As this is a camping retreat, you will need to bring your own camping equipment such as tents, bedding, towels, etc. You will be camping in your own large private paddock in a central location to the country or woodland walks. This beautiful spot is a stone throw away from the barn, washing, and toilet facilities. It accommodates comfortably up to 20 tents and has a central firepit for evening warmth.
You will also have the exclusive use of a rustic shanti barn for meals and yoga practice in the event of bad weather. There are on-site toilets, and showers are available at 2 GBP per shower, per person. There is also a small cafe and shop and if you wish so, full access to the bison farm museum.
The schedule will be relaxed and flexible. As many will be travelling from afar, there will be extra time for arrival time until 17:00 to explore your surroundings, set up your camp, meet your fellow yogis and yoginis, unwind, and freshen up before supper.
In the western world, yoga is often seen as simply asanas (postures) or a fitness regime designed for building muscles and improving flexibility. In fact, asanas are just one part of the yoga system. The goal is to bring stillness to the mind, to be present in your actions, and reverse the effects of your high energised ever moving fast paced lifestyles.
It’s about relaxing the body and the mind. It’s letting go of the past, allowing yourself a reprieve from the future and standing still for one moment in the here and now. By doing so, you clear your minds which is often clouded by years of unconscious perceptions and actions which have become habituated in your minds.
When you are free of your habituated perceptions and actions, you are able to perceive the world and situations clearly so that you may make the correct decisions and act accordingly.
The word yoga has been given many meanings. The most commonly used is “to unite” or “union” referring to reuniting yourself, re-balancing, bringing together the body, breath, mind, and much more. There is another meaning which is "to attain what was previously unattainable”, whether this was touching your toes or having the confidence to go for that dream job interview it does not matter - the journey from that point to another higher point in whatever aspect of your life is yoga.
Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique that teaches you to relax physically, mentally, and emotionally. In the hectic schedules of life, people seldom truly relax, they slump on sofas using sensory distractions such as television or alcohol but these really are only distractions, not true relaxation. In order to completely relax, you must be consciously aware of it, you must withdraw your senses, and focus your attentions inwards.
The word yoga Nidra is often referred to as yogic sleep and although you may appear to be asleep, you are still functioning on the levels of hearing and awareness. It is deep relaxation with inner awareness.
By withdrawing the senses and completely relaxing the body, the mind, and the emotions, you are able to access your subconscious and unconscious simultaneously. Working on this level, your receptivity increases. You can develop your memory, enhance your knowledge, increase your creativity, and even transform your nature.
Walks in the beautiful Dorset or Wiltshire countryside are included in the price.
