During this training, Piramyd Yoga offers you different accommodation proposals so you can adapt your budget. They have six double bed bungalows that you can share, four private bungalows with ocean view if you wish to be by yourself, and they also have a community house, that can be shared by nine people. You can choose from their two budgets, depending on where you want to stay.


Main Purpose

The aim of IOGA ACADEMY, for the teachers training course, is to help you to become a confident and good Hatha yoga teacher. The program is designed and sequenced starting from learning and practicing the asanas. You need to make a trip through your body and discover the sequence of movements and alignments.

Breath, is the key to a good practice of yoga, no breathing no yoga, whether you practice yoga in a more athletic way or a more meditative style, the breath will always be the vehicle to travel, to your inner understanding of the subtle energies, withing you and around you.

Movement amplifies the further away than the limits of our body, just imagine that when you do Yoga you become a powerful móvil Athena, which creates positive energies towards earth, people, and cosmic world. Yoga is about understanding, so that is why Ioga Academy wants to keep the TTC focused and simple so that you really learn and experience.

Ioga Academy doesn't want to blunt you, with a heavy program full of amazing subjects, because the reality is that you need to truly focus on what is important, and you only have 27 days. Off course, Ioga Academy is in for adventure and playful activities, this is why during your free time they offer with different adventure companies of the island experiences such us, paddle surf, diving, free diving, snorkeling, kayaking, trekking, cycling, kitesurfing, windsurfing.

One of the highlights of the program is learning how to teach, for the teaching is more about facilitating, so The Ioga Academy call themselves yoga facilitators because they believe that, learning is about connecting with your wise man or woman and bringing out the best in you.

How they connect with others and create empathy is the key opener to engage a group in experiencing a learning process. They bring some icebreakers games, which you can use, to connect quicker and faster to any group, whether they are, adults or children. Gaining confidence, as a yoga facilitator is just been your self-be authentic, connecting from heart to heart.

Experience and finding your own teaching style comes with practice, more than being perfect in the teaching is about being caring, listening and observing.

The educational timeline of the program during the next 27 days will flow into a very creative program where you are invited to be a very active participant, you will go in and out different scenarios, investigating and learning the nearly 100 asanas, to debating and learning about the most, important aspects of yoga, always taking yoga to the practical aspect, that will help you for your teachings.

For the first two weeks especially, you will be focused on the practical teaching and alignment, learning around 100 Hatha yoga postures. You will repeat sequences and go through all the asanas in a very comprehensible way, which for sure you won't forget. During this time you will also go through, different pranayama breathing and the main Bandhas.

There are 80 hours of yoga practice, two practices a day, of two hours each from Monday to Friday, and one practice on Saturday mornings.

For the next last 2 weeks, once you shall have learned the different asanas, you will then enter the therapeutical application of yoga, Thai massage, Thai yoga, and Hatha yoga belong to the same family and are deeply related, you will use the Thai massage or assisted yoga, as I called it to understand, how the asanas work from an energetical point of view, how are they related to the chakras, to the energetical body (energy lines, marma points).

The philosophy teachings of yoga will be, debate talks were you will bring the ancient but at the same time actual knowledge into your own life experiences so you can inspire yourselves. On theory talks, you will learn about Vedanta. “Vedanta” is a combination of two words: “Veda,” which means “knowledge,” and “anta,” which means “the end of” or “the goal of.”

In this context, the goal of knowledge isn’t intellectual, the limited knowledge you acquire by reading books. “Knowledge” here means the knowledge of God as well as the knowledge of the own divine nature. Vedanta, then, is the search for self-knowledge as well as the search for God.

Yoga philosophy, It’s a kind of self-guided book, where you will find a whole range of ethical ways of life. Like (Yamas), lifestyle observances (Niyamas), postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), withdrawal of the senses (pratyahara), concentration (Dharana), meditation (dhyana), and absorption into the divine (samadhi).

For the anatomy and alignment, you will use different sources like the videos of Paul Grilley or the anatomy book of Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Matthews. Anatomy, as you may imagine, is a very profound and knowledgeable subject.

You will go over the anatomy in a very functional and practical way, from the hand of Monika Karsai, she will share with us her 19 year experience treating patients from spinal injuries and other different diseases, as well as professional sport man and woman, that have damage there muscular tissues by overtraining or over stretching.

As yoga facilitators, you need to observe the participants, their bodies, and especially know if they have any special muscular or spinal injuries that may affect their practice. In case of serious injuries or affections always recommend they visit a specialist physician. Of the total of the 200-hour of the TTC, 40 hours will be dedicated for you to practice, teaching and have a first-hand experience and feedback on how is your teaching style and especially picking up confidence.

This will be the general curriculum for the TTC and our guideline, Ioga Academy is open and flexible to time proposals regarding themes that you may be interested in or that you may find interesting to go deeper.

Program Resume by Subjects

  • General History of Yoga.
  • 100 Hatha yoga. Asanas standing postures, backbends, forward bends, supine poses, prone poses, extensions, rotations, twists, inversions.
  • Transformational Hatha in Yoga, introduction to the chakras and how they are related to Yoga.
  • Therapeutical applications of Yoga.
  • Functional Anatomy from the healing perspective of Thai massage, Energy lines, introduction to the chakras,
  • How to teach from the facilitators perspective, Clear and concise instructions, easy to understand. Acquiring self-confident, to teach.
  • Philosophy: Vedanta Yamas and Niyamas.

Certification and Final Exam

A final exam will be mandatory, as well as a preparing a 20 minute class for the group. Although not mandatory for the final certification it is recommended taking a course in functional Anatomy for Yoga.

Excursiones (incluidas)

In IOGA ACADEMY, they will be fully dedicated to you the 27 days of the TTC. They want to make your stay and experience unforgettable and beautiful, so they will propose on your free time, Saturdays afternoon and Sunday, different activities ranging from, SUP, kayak, diving, kite surfing, trekking, island hopping, adventure park, steam sauna, market nights, tattoo experience, etc. Some of this activities have an extra cost, but others don't.

They will offer the group different options every weekend, and you can decide what to do. In any case, they will organize everything for you. They will just need to know and plan in advance.


Robert Brown
Robert is the Director and ambassador of Yoga Alliance International Thailand, Hatha Yoga Teacher, by the Asian Federation of Psycotherapy, Master Yoga Teacher of Transformational Yoga, by Srima School in Auroville, India. He has more than 700 hours of training. His practice and teachings are based in Hatha Yoga. He has 19 years of experience working as a facilitator and coach, and uses yoga with his corporate clients. Currently, he is developing his work from a more holistic perspective, integrating techniques and activities that allow him to reach more deeply into knowledge and truth.

Destino del retiro

This training will take place at Pyramid Yoga Center, 58/34, Moo 8, Koh Phangan, Surat Thani 84280, Thailand. Pyramid Yoga is a retreat center with a focus on yoga, healing, and education. They host many different retreats, yoga teacher training, workshops, and events. Located on the beautiful Thai Island of Koh Phangan, the center was created in 2002. Its one of the very first resorts dedicated to yoga, and has the magic and spirit of yoga in its soul, like the founder and actual owner, David Goulet.

The resort is located near Hing Kon beach, they are just minutes walk away from beautiful sunsets, in the middle of a beautiful jungle area, nice and quiet, allowing guests to fully concentrate in the yoga retreat. Very near, you have beautiful beaches for a great snorkeling and excellent swimming. Piramyd Yoga Center provides their students with a beautiful sound temple, where if you are a musician, you can retreat and play if there are no other activities.

During this training, you will enjoy three full meals a day; a daily vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner based on vegetarian and Thai mix cuisine. The kitchen at the center is really amazing and they will adopt different diet requirements if necessary. Whatever your diet requirement is, they will surely do whatever is in their hands to fulfill your health requirements.

Actividades opcionales

You will have free time on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. IOGA Academy always proposes the group different excursions or activities, this will be announced on Fridays. Some have an extra cost, but they can definitely organize for you different options such as snorkeling, diving, kitesurfing, windsurfing, trekking, and kayaking. The island offers amazing possibilities to enjoy after the intensive learning day.

You can escape to the lively night market in Thongsala and enjoy nice dinner, or at midday, you can pop down to the private beach and go snorkeling, or just have a great swim and enjoy the sun. Alternatively, you can complete your yoga days with some beautiful Thai massage treatments at very reasonable prices. It is recommended that at the end of every week you take a beautiful Thai massage and Thai sauna.

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Samui Airport (USM). From Bangkok, you can take night train to Surat Thani, and from Surat Thani, a bus will take you to a boat ferry direct to Ko Pha Ngan. Flights to Koh Samui are via Bangkok Air or Thai Airways and can be direct from other countries as it is an international airport.

Arrival by ferry

Upon arrival to Samui Airport (USM), you can take a boat ferry to Ko Pha Ngan. From Bangkok, you can take night train to Surat Thani, and from Surat Thani, a bus will take you to a boat ferry direct to Ko Pha Ngan. When you book your flight directly to Koh Samui, make sure you arrive before 4:30 p.m. The last boat ferry to Ko Pha Ngan leaves at that precise time.
