  • Helen Saunders

    After a long career in the theater as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer, Helen teaches Pilates nowadays. Having a family at the end of that career, it seemed the only logical thing to change focus and begin a new way of life. Helen and Eric opened Cardiff Pilates Studio with the intention of settling down. But life took another turn and lured them away to the countryside in rural France. This summer, they will launch The Field, a place of quiet, self-learning, and expansion.

  • Eric Butler

    Eric was trained as a Pilates instructor in New York by Fran Lehen, herself a student of Carola Strauss (one of Joseph Pilates' original students). He has been an instructor for almost 20 years, first at Fran's studio in New York, followed by his own studio in Copenhagen, then together with Helen at Cardiff Pilates Studio, and now at The Field. As an ex-modern dancer, dance teacher, masseur, and yoga teacher, he has a great understanding of different body types and individual needs. He has been particularly successful helping clients with spinal problems.

  • Acharya Bala

    Acharya Bala, the founder and the director of Hatha Vidya Gurukulam, comes from the Thrissur district of Kerala in India. His journey began in Yoga-Vedanta Forest Academy, Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh, where he attained the basic training in yoga. After this, he traveled extensively through Northern India. He was fortunate to come across some of the most eminent masters, who shared with him the wisdom to experience the true essence of a yogic journey.

This yoga retreat will take place in Malleret Boussac, France.

A diet will be provided to compliment your practice, comprising delicious and easily digestible vegan and vegetarian food.

Arrival by airplane

Transfer from and to the airport is not included. Limoges International Airport (LIG) is the nearest airport.

Arrival by train

Nearest train stations are Lavaufranche, Guéret, Montluçon, and Châteauroux. The Field Retreat offers a pick-up shuttle where possible for 20 EUR (local station Lavaufranche pick-up is free).
