Sivananda Yoga

Sivananda Yoga Vietnam is part of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Organization in more than 30 countries. There are 9 ashrams and more then 30 city centers on every continent from North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The 5 points of yoga for health and well-being is the main teaching of the Sivananda Centers and the 4 paths of yoga are the synthesis of all the different yoga teachings. The basic Sivananda yoga class is the Hatha yoga class consisting of asanas and pranayama that is taught by the same system in all the Sivananda Yoga centers around the world. Sivananda Yoga Resort and Training Center is a year-round classical yoga retreat and training center for yoga students, practitioners, spiritual seekers, and those looking for a healthier way of life with more meaning.

Health and well-being 5 points of yoga:

Proper exercise (asana)

The asanas (physical yoga postures) ensure the health of the internal body systems and the flexibility of the spine. Asanas renew and energize the body and mind, improve concentration, help to release blocked mental energy and negative emotions, and promote a feeling of connection and self-awareness. Yoga is traditionally considered more than physical exercise because it’s benefits are not only physical, but also mental, emotional and spiritual.

Proper breathing (pranayama)

Breath is to the body what a battery is to a car. It gives us oxygen, most needed for our cells, but also gives us prana, or vital energy. Pranayama, or yogic breathing exercises increases, balances and purifies our energy system and awakens higher energy. Learning how to breath correctly allows the body and mind to move into stillness and facilitates meditation practice.

Proper relaxation (savasana)

Yogic relaxation removes fatigue, relaxes the mind, and reminds you of your purpose in life. Many of us today suffer from fatigue and tension which we don't know how to release. We spend more energy keeping muscles in continuous readiness for work than in actually working usefully. We dissipate vital energy in anger, fear and negative emotions. Tiredness accumulates on a physical, mental and spiritual level, draining us of joy in our everyday lives. The deep cause of stress is existential coming from the underlying questions - who am I? What is my purpose here? What is the meaning of life?

Proper diet (vegetarian)

Food is the fuel for the body. Yoga is concerned with the subtle effect food has on the serenity of the mind and the keenness of the intellect, as well as the health of the body. The yogic diet is sattvic - stable pure focused energy, calm, balanced, lively. The aim of yoga is to increase sattvic energy in our being by choosing sattvic foods hence, the yogic diet is a vegetarian one, consisting of pure, simple natural foods which are easily digested and promote health.

Positive thinking and meditation

A car may have a new battery, a smoothly functioning cooling system, perfectly lubricated parts and a full gas tank. However, without a driver in full control of his/her senses and a road map to their destination, the vehicle is useless. Positive thinking and meditation allow us to assume the role of this driver in order to make full use of the physical body. Positive thinking begins with understanding the mind by examining the nature of our thoughts. We choose thoughts for maximum happiness and effectiveness. Positive thinking is the preparation for meditation.

Instructores

Swami Pranavananda
Swami Pranavananda hails from the USA and has been a yoga and meditation teacher since 1995 in the USA and abroad. He teaches mainly the Hatha yoga and anatomy sections for the teacher training courses. He was the director of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers in Los Angeles, California, for a few years, and San Francisco. Currently, he is serving in Vietnam, teaching in the Ho Chi Minh center. He enjoys taking classes to learn Vietnamese.
Ganga Chaitanya
Ganga My Hoang graduated from International Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course 2009 and Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course 2010 in Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, USA. She is also a graduate of the "Yoga as Medicine", "Yoga Psychology", and "Ayurveda and Yoga Wellness" course. After a few months service at the Sivananda yoga centers in San Francisco and Grass Valley, she returned to Vietnam and assumes the responsibility of directing the Sivananda Yoga Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
Saraswati
Saraswati graduated from International Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course 2010 in Vietnam. She is also a graduate of the "Yoga Psychology", "Ayurveda and Yoga Wellness" course, and "Ayurvedic massage therapist". She has been a volunteer staff at Sivananda Yoga Vedanta center in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, since 2010. After a few months service at the Sivananda yoga centers in New Plymouth, New Zealand and Grass Valley, California, she returned to Vietnam and assumes the responsibility of directing the Sivananda Yoga Center in Dalat City.
Amba
Amba started to expose yoga from 2007 at Sivananda Yoga Farm, USA. She graduated from International Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course 2010 and Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course 2016 in Vietnam. She is also a graduate of the yoga psychology and Ayurvedic massage therapist. She has been a volunteer staff at Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and has been supporting for teacher training course in Vietnam since 2011.

Destino del retiro

The retreat will be held in K'lan Resort in Vietnam. K'lan is a hillside resort by Tuyen Lam Lake, 20 minutes from Dalat city, surrounded by beautiful hills. Dalat, the city of eternal spring, only one hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), is a famous tourist destination with fresh air and a mild climate.

¿Cómo llegar?

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flights to arrive at Lien Khuong Airport (DLI). For international flights, you need to fly into Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City. From there, you can easily find a flight to this airport and take a taxi to K'lan Resort in Tuyen Lam Lake.

Arrival by bus

If you are from Ho Chi Minh City, you can take a bus to go to Da Lat. The bus is available every 30 minutes. The journey takes around eight hours.
