Shanti Atma Yoga invites you for a diverse training program in Yin yoga and myofascial release. The course combines asana practice with meditation, anatomy, and fascia studies and has a strong thread of the art of teaching Yin yoga and other subjects, and takes a deeper look into the energetic workings of the body. You will discover different types of Yin Yang practices and shift your focus, feeling how the energy of your mind and body become connected. You will learn to think and feel from a Yin perspective and truly discover your mind, body, and soul. This course is a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Program) which means it accounts towards extra training hours per year needed to keep YA designations for registered teachers.

During your training, you will stay in Can Jou, a beautiful accommodation with a spectacular view over the Pyrenees where you can enjoy the entire peace of mind you need to reconnect with nature. You will have the possibility to choose from a private room, a twin shared room, and a shared room for three people.
Yin yoga is the gentle application of tension and compression to the body, which induces a healthy phase change in the tissue. The practice is characterized by long, static holds, using floor based asana, for muscle relaxation and myofascial release, allowing for a meditative focus. Yin yoga focuses on Daoist principles of the energetic network, embedded within the body, using the energy pathways to harmonize the body.
At the end of the course, you will be able to follow a path in Yin yoga, incorporate techniques learned into your teaching and self-practice, broaden your teaching expertise with new knowledge from a Yin yoga perspective, and in the end being able to offer your students a new style of yoga, which complements and balances other practices.
You will learn Yin and Yang yoga practices, Yin asanas and their target areas, but also the principles and history of Yin yoga, and its function over form approach. You will learn how to teach the methodology of Yin yoga, how to sequence a Yin yoga class, focusing on the energetic body through meridian channels, the physical body through myofascial release, and the mental body through a variety of techniques of meditation and pranayama.
You will learn about muscle mandalas, with physical and energetic target areas and about fascia's connective tissue and the body’s living energy web. You will hear about the Meridian theory, Qi theory, Chinese medicine, and the five elements.
You will get back to the nature of Yin and Yang yoga and get deep into the yogic philosophy of Patanjali’s eight limbs and their connection to Yin yoga. Also, the Buddhist philosophy and meditation will be an important part of the training. The meditation part will also include Qi Gong practices.
You will breakdown of Yin asana and the art of propping, to increase and decrease stress, to make Yin yoga accessible for all body types. This way you will discover your body and mind.

Becky started practicing yoga when she was suffering from lower back pain and a busy mind. Coming from a meditation background, she found love for meditation, linked with the flow of asana while traveling the world for community development. She completed 200-hour and a 300-hour yoga teacher training course in India, a number of Yin yoga teacher training courses and continuous Vipassana meditation courses, and one study with an acupuncturist in the field of Chinese medicine. Becky now lives in India and trains yoga teachers on 200 and 300-hour courses, and Yin yoga specialist courses.
This retreat will take place in Girona, region of Catalonia, Spain.
For the teacher training course, you will enjoy daily vegetarian meals.
Please book your flight to arrive at Barcelona-El Prat International Airport (BCN). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Shanti Atma Yoga will pick you up from the airport.
