  • Reseña de Shayna Zema de New York

"Dear fellow yoga practitioners, students, and future teachers, "

"My name is Shayna Zema, and I have been practicing yoga for over half a decade and teaching yoga for over several years. My yoga journey began while traveling in Guatemala, and then evolved over time into being part of a community of practitioners and teachers at my university in Rhode Island, USA. After graduation, I knew I wanted something more and found through recommendations of friends who traveled in South America Sembrando Semillas con Yoga. Indecisive about my next step would be for my career, I decided to put myself first and finally pursue my 200-hour formal certification this past October. And honestly, my 20-something days outside of Cusco transformed my entire relationship with yoga, as well as relationship with myself. I entered the YTT with probably more experience than my peers; I had studied anatomy thoroughlym taught classes for a couple years with ease, and had familiarity with piecing together sequencing and using cue words. Nevertheless, I learned so much more during my training than I could have ever anticipated. I found the spiritual void that I was seeking by learning more about yoga’s history and traditions, about the subtle connections between mind, body, and breath, and the way to be a yogi without movement on a mat. I studied alignment in depth, not only by correcting others but feeling the changed on my own body. I was able to use my time to explore myself with my intricacies, and be supported in a safe space to uncover the shrouds of my deepest fears and insecurities. I felt vulnerable at first being far away from home, but I quickly made the most beautiful, true friendship with the other students and with my teachers. The long day’s of meditation and yoga required a rigorous schedule, but often I found myself waking up before sunrise to have alone time in the temple to do my own personal practice. Living conditions were meant to be rustic, to truly embrace the yogic lifestyle and live in harmony with the environment, and as a community, we supported each other to overcome our struggles of materialism and physicality that may have been accustomed to before the training. Since my training was during Peru’s winter, weather was a challenge. We would have days of sunshine mixed with days of rain. We would experience cold mornings, steamy afternoins, and chilly nights. We would keep warm with bonfires and blankets, and we would cool off with medicinal baths in the grass in the sun. We ate local, vegetarian foods prepared with love and mindfulness and used compostable toilets to preserve our space. We showered when the sun would warm our water and we took turns waking each other up in the mornings. Our lives were simple, and that was the absolute necessity for the transformative power of our training. We removed the burdens and responsibilities of the outside, into what yoga means to us and how we hope to grow in our practices, both physical and spiritual. The rural lifestyle allowed us two better connect with each other, to explore our backgrounds, our struggles, and our success, and to determine what happiness and fulfillment mean to each of us. We maintained contact throughout the program with ourselves, feeling first hand the effects of our one-day-off each week when we went to the city of Cusco and came back drained from the hustle and bustle of an urban metropolis. We gained flexibility each day-not just in our yoga asanas, but as individuals, members of a fixed schedule that may be very different from our normal lives who would approach what before them with respect, grace, and gratitude. As you venture forth and your yoga journey, I ask that you keep in mind what it means to be a yogi-and that doesn’t mean mastering tough, physical pose in black leggings. It means love, respect, gratitude, appreciation, flexibility understanding, and simplicity. It requires time on and off the mat and needs to be practiced each and every day. I wish you much luck on your path and bow to you for your patience in taking the time to read this letter. "

  • Reseña de Yifan Sun de China

"The course is definitely one of the highlights in my 20 months travels around the world, and also my life. We stayed in one of the most beautiful parts of Peru, 4000 meters, beautiful village, beautiful scenery, and beautiful people. The yoga course is on a little permaculture farm in which you can always get the most fresh and healthy food. It is for a good cause as our teachers run the NGO for local children and people. Our teacher Marisol is the queen for asana while Christian is the king for theories and philosophies, thus it was a perfect combination for us. We had a structured class schedule, and I also had enough flexibility in the course to explore the areas that I wanted to learn more about. Christian and Marisol are very knowledgeable yet humble, caring and loving, they always had a lot of patience for me when I was throwing at them crazy amount of questions. It was a small class with fewer than ten people, felt like a community, a home, much better than the course with a large number of students. Even now, after one and half years, I am still in touch with Marisol and Christian, and almost every classmate, we still feel like a family.I was very fortunate to get a partial scholarship for the course. The impact of the 200-hour course is not only just immediate (It did changed my body, my diet, and my mind), but also very long-lasting and profound. I developed a much deeper understanding of yoga and spirituality through this course, and started regular practice of yoga since the course (which I never had before), and now I am assisting yoga classes in Cambridge University in the UK. Thanks to the course, and thanks to yoga, I became a much happier, joyful, mindful, peaceful person. I have much more love for myself and others than before, and yoga is still a big part of my life that I have tremendous amount of gratitude for Marisol and Christian."

  • Reseña de Karalyn Perez

"When one is pulled into the yogic journey, it is indeed a calling. The passion, the way of life, the tapas practice, dedication and presence it takes to choose a life evolved around non-violence/ahimsa, mindfulness, being the watcher of your experience and presence is a true devotion and gift. I had been called on this path over ten years ago as a novice yogi and slowly began to evolve my yogic practice over the years unfolding. After a solid 9 years of just practice various basic yogic asanas and living the lifestyle to the best f my ability, I finally felt like it was time to humbly choose the path as a teacher. After tons of research and knowing that I wanted to experience and receive my education as a student in a sacred land abroad as a yoga teacher, I finally came upon Sembrando Semillas con Yoga. Upon first interaction, Marisol was above and beyond accommodating and receptive. She knew I was in a financial rut, though wanted to train and get certified more than anything. Both her and Christian were willing to take me under their wing and accommodate my financial hardships through the practice of Karma yoga right off the bat. It was then that we developed a strong foundation of trust and empathy for one anothers as humans on this planet in service of others."

"Peru, the sacred and majestic land of ancient culture, a rich civilation of color, profundity, presence, elegancy, intensity and raw transparency shook me to my core upon arrival. The sights, sounds, smies…invigorating, inspiring and beyond mysterious. The birthplace of Machu Pichu and the sacred valley/Apus. It was love at first sight and the unfolding process had just begun. Meeting Marisol for the first time, being in her presence, was almost this profound all knowing feeling that I received immediately. It was that feeling that you get when you have known someone forever, that essence of family, that sense of comfort and ease, though stoic and solid and all knowing. A solid base to rely on and trust. I felt this with her and immediately felt a kinship/family and sense of sisterhood with her. As the month unfolded, her and I got to know each other on a more deeper intrapersonal level. Her awareness and depth around the art of yoga and it’s lifestyle was eloquent and rich and I could have not felt more gratitude and appreciation in the knowing that I had made the right decision in choosing her as my teacher. Marisol is a light in this world that radiates outward for the better. She truly makes it a point to do service work for others through educating all those whom she crosses paths with about the yogic way of life. I can truly say that I would not be the same person today without having went through such a profound and life-altering experience. There were times that it was beyond hard, devling deep into frustration and humility, though learning how to overcome such obstacles during my yoga training were priceless tools that now help me better navigate through my day to day life anywhere life takes me. For this, such a sacred gift is priceless and I could not say anything less than outstanding and brilliant about Marisol. I love her dearly and miss her every day. "

"Spending three weeks at Sembrano Semillas was not at all what I expected. Yes I had expected to be doing a lot of yoga, but I was not ready for my whole being to be tested put. Everyday I would wake up early a little scared of what may be in store, but every evening I would go to bed so happy and content with the amount I had learnt and the amount I had pushed myself. Over three weeks I learnt an incredible amount and pushed my boundaries in which I am so thankful for. Looking back now almost four months ago, I am realizing more and more each day how heloful the time with Christian and Marisol was. They provided a space for personal f=growth, physical growth and spiritual growth. I have never met anyone like Christian before. His teaching ability and passion for teaching is powerful and it starts at 6 am in the morning and finishes at 9pm at night, everyday. I am truly blessed to have been able to spend three weeks at this incredible place. Don’t respect it to be easy, but nothing great comes easy. I thank Christian and Marisol for this opportunity."

  • Reseña de Michael Lobsiger de Canada

"Thank you so much for your hospitality and amazing food. I can honestly say, not having any prior yoga experience coming here. I now have a very clear understanding of what exactly yoga means to me and what it takes to be a yoga teacher. The accommodations were excellent and clean. The retreat took place at a very beautiful location high above the city with views of the surrounding mountains. TRhe buildings were made of natural materials and we used composting toilets during our stay here. Lush gardens to wander through when enjoying walk. The temple was manually constructed by the local community. "

"I have to say Marisol is so experienced in what she teaches. It was very easy for me to be comfortable around her and see how much love she has to offer. Her passion for yoga shows in her smooth flowing asanas and in her powerful voice when chanting mantras. Christian was teaching philosophy and anatomy. He was very knowledgeable about the human body and how important it is to understand the bone structures of the body. We learned so much about all the great yogis from the past, including Khrisna, Jesus, Budhha, etc. I had my first sweat lodge ceremony and I will never forget it. I have since done many other sweat ceremonies in Canada."

"I plan on coming back to Peru in the future and training with Marisol for the 300HR yoga teacher training at her new school. Marisol is also very passionate about Ayurveda and many healing practices."
