Deluxe room

Deluxe rooms are spacious in size and feature large picture windows that provide exquisite views of the Himalayas, as well as a glittering pure waterway that flows down from the mountains and into the Ganges River. Picturesque verandas line all three floors and double as sitting areas to relax and savor the stunning views.

Enjoy high ceilings, hand-crafted lights, and handmade rustic Indian furnishings that include a desk and chair, night tables, sitting area, cozy dressing area, storage space, and a large private bathroom with a shower. Guests may choose from one king size bed or two twin beds.

Curriculum

Advanced techniques and practices of the Sattva practice of yoga - 70 hours

  • Advanced Hatha asanas, Kundalini, and Tantra kriyas
  • How to blend and work with seven distinct styles of yoga (seven Sattva waves) and merge them into one organic whole
  • Advanced meditation practices
  • How to use the techniques for healing and transformation of body, mind, and spirit
  • In-depth look at the relationship of the five layers of the body and the effect of the techniques on each
  • Purpose, benefits, contract indications of all techniques, and how to use them to practice for the ultimate aim of yoga
  • Learn to class sequences (practice teaching mixed level classes and advanced classes)

Basic Sanskrit and advanced mantra practice - 12 hours

Learn the Sanskrit alphabet in Devanagari script. You will be able to read and pronounce Sanskrit words, as well as some grammar, and you will explore the role of Sanskrit in a yoga practice. Also, you will dive deep into advanced mantra practice and learn how to incorporate Naad in the classes to give a deeper experience to your students.

Teaching methodology - 50 hours

The Sattva Yoga teaching method: The five principles of teaching and seven waves (seven distinct yogic tradition and their techniques) adjustments and assists, the art of sequencing, energetics of assists and Vinyasa Krama; ethics of teaching yoga, including the types of teachers and students; teaching advanced Kundalini and Sattva Tantra Kriyas.

Studying their transformative effects and learning how to blend them together with Vinyasa Krama. Expanding the range of your classes through incorporating different techniques and making the teaching have huge expanse.

Scripture, philosophy, ethics, and lifestyle - 30 hours

Includes advanced philosophy, deeper understanding of the sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Hathayogapradipika, Tantras and Agamas, and Upanishads.

Group practicum - 12 hours

Includes class observation and transcriptions focusing on adjustment, sequencing, theme, and music.

Small group peer review and practicum - 17 hours

These are classes that you teach in a small group setting to hone your skills. It includes student teaching as well as observing and assisting in classes taught by others (oral presentation skills).

Satsang - 55 hours

Satsang combines many of the subjects of the course, including chanting, meditation, japa and mantra, Nada yoga and music, community, diet, nutrition, Vedanta, philosophy, and practical skills for conducting Satsang. Questions are answered as part of Satsang.

Advanced pranayama principles and practice - 10 hours

This includes the advanced principles and theory of pranayama, as well as practical training in Samavritti and Visamavritti pranayama, including teaching methods.

Daily self-study - 20 hours

Each day includes a self-study assignment to be completed and checked the next day by the teachers.

Seva: homework and self-practice requirements - 60 hours

Students are required to finish homework after the completion of the contact hours and submit within three months from the date that they finish their contact hours.

  • 17:30 Asana and kriya: Breakdown with adjustments or evening asana, pranayama, kriya, and yoga Nidra practice
  • 18:45 Aarti and dinner
  • 20:00 Third session: Satsang, sutras explanation, chanting, and community time

For the 300-hour level teacher training, a 200-hour certificate from Sattva Yoga Academy or any other Yoga Alliance approved yoga school is required.

There are outdoor excursions that include some of the caves, temples, waterfalls, or local mountain villages. It is set on the banks of a spring-fed river at the base of the Himalayas. The location is free from all pollution (sound, water, and air).

This retreat will take place at Sattva Retreat Centre located near Rishikesh, India.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). From there, you may book another flight to Jolly Grant Airport (DED), which is closer to the academy. Arrival by train

Take a train from Delhi to Haridwar (a neighboring city of Rishikesh). From Haridwar, you can either take public transportation (such as a bus) or request a pick-up from Sattva Yoga Academy Rishikesh.

Arrival by taxi

The ride from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) will take about six hours. The cost of a private taxi is from 90 to 150 USD, depending on what car you would like. The ride from Jolly Grant Airport (DED) will take about 40 minutes.
