Samma Karuna provides three types of accommodation for you according to your requirements. By default, all accommodation provided is type C, but you may decide to upgrade for an additional cost. The accommodation is provided inside the school. On the event of no availability at the time of your booking, the accommodation might be provided in one of the hotels next door to the school (beach front). All of the rooms have their own private bathrooms.

Type C accommodation

This is the type of accommodation included in the course fee. The accommodation provided is a private simple bungalow with a fan.

Type B accommodation

This is a standard private bungalow with an air conditioner.

Type A accommodation

This is a comfortable bungalow with amenities and sea view.


This retreat includes social, active, and still meditation, daily yoga classes, expressive techniques based on conscious movement, and music. It also includes cathartic techniques, pranayama, insights to Tantra, non-dogmatic lectures on self-development, compassionate sharing, and mindfulness practice.

Yoga practice

Samma Karuna’s yoga is gentle, spiritual, and therapeutic. It is suitable both for beginners and experienced practitioners. It incorporates the basis of Hatha yoga with Vinyasa flow and mindful Ujjayi pranayama, allowing the whole process of practice to become mindful and healing.


Qigong is a practice of mastering qi in the body (life force energy) through rhythmic breathing, slow and sometimes rapid movement, static poses which are held for a period of time, and deep focus. It has its roots in Chinese medicine and martial arts dating back to some 4.000 years ago.

Dance meditation

It is an active meditation in which you use rhythm, awareness, and an intuitive state which are the typical qualities of many types of meditation within dancing to reconnect with yourself and celebrate life.

Samma Karuna Angel’s walk

It is the most famous social meditation of Samma Karuna. It is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy. In this love meditation, you will explore the art of seeing light in each other and within yourself as a true path for a more thankful and happy life.

Samma Karuna AUM meditation

This meditation has fifteen stages of intense cathartic meditation inspired from Humaniversity AUM meditation and Osho's AUM marathon. This is a three and a half hours journey of opening up to your emotions, reconnecting with your body, and celebrating life.

Awakening class

As a school of self-realization, the main concern is to help you find an authentic and long-lasting happiness. As a non-dogmatic, non-religious school, Samma Karuna aims to help you develop your own light and wisdom. You have to understand that true wisdom comes from within, through your own personal experiences, rather than second-hand wisdom found in books or lectures. The awakening lectures are based on experiential exercises, time for reflection, sharing, music, and meditation.

Conscious cinema

Conscious cinema is a free weekly event which offers an uplifting conscious movie to bring more awareness and understanding to your life.

Compassionate sharing

Based on non-violent communication, you will learn how to share from your heart, sharing your vulnerabilities to the group, and having the courage to be just yourselves. In this process, you will be taking responsibility for your emotions and balance whilst understanding that what makes you vulnerable actually makes you beautiful.

Samma Karuna tree of harmony

When you hug someone, your heart connects and you know that you are not a separate being. Hugging with mindfulness and concentration can bring reconciliation, healing, understanding, joy, and great happiness.

Rebirthing breathwork

Rebirthing is a gentle yet powerful conscious breathing technique. It brings into awareness your unconsciously held beliefs, emotions, and the relationships that you have with your body and yourself. By birthing with awareness, you make possible to resolve, integrate, and heal previously-unresolved issues in your life.

Sudarshan kriya / Samma Karuna aurora soham

Breathing is the first act of life. Within the breath is the unexplored secret of life. Sudarshan kriya is a powerful yet simple rhythmic breathing technique that incorporates specific natural rhythms of the breath, harmonizing the body, mind, and emotions. This technique eliminates stress, fatigue, and negative emotions such as anger, frustration, and depression. It'll make the mind calm and focused, the body energized and completely relaxed.

Tantra practice

Tantra helps you to realize the divine beauty that you all have within. In this special events, you will use the power of breath, movement, and touch to connect with yourself and others in a fun, loving, and playful way.

Vipassana meditation

You will gather every day to meditate together. Vipassana, as taught by S. N. Goenka, is a traditional still meditation, which is 2.500 years old and considered to be the meditation used by Gautama Buddha to gain enlightenment. All levels are welcome and you just need to bring a respectful and loving energy to the class. If you have not meditated before, Samma Karuna may introduce you to Anapana meditation technique to get you started.

  • 18:30-20:00 Evening activity (social meditation, awakening class, Atisha's heart meditation, Sudarshan kriya, angel walk, etc.)


Ishi is the creator of the bio-development platform and has nine years of experience in different music therapy backgrounds. He is the founder of Samma Karuna and an international teacher, holding a background in a wide spectrum of disciplines including Tantra, Taoism (Tao garden instructor), bio-development, Biodanza, and meditation.
Satyama integra los beneficios del yoga con la propia experiencia y utiliza su conocimiento para ayudar a otros a desarrollar una profunda conexión mental y corporal. Margarita Karger
Margarita Karger studied music at the Collegium Musicum of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. She has a degree in speech therapy (UBA), specializing in voice therapy for teachers, actors, and broadcasters. She is currently the president of the Spanish Association of Biodanza and Education Biocentric and the Madrid Association of Biodanza. She is a member of honor of the International Biocentric Foundation. She has directed teacher training schools of Biodanza of Madrid since 1996 and the Canary Islands since 2004.
Jivan Sahasa

International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres Yoga Alliance RYT 500 (Hatha Yoga)
Eleonora is a certified Hatha yoga teacher and Acharya yoga (master of yoga) by the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, a registered yoga school for the 500 hours standard by the world-renowned Yoga Alliance. As a passionate student and practitioner of Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga, she has explored the Sri Krishnamacharya's teachings with A. G. and Indra Mohan, Godfrey Devereux’s Dynamic yoga system, Dharma Mittra's yoga in New York City, yoga anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff, plus Tibetan Buddhism with different masters including Tenzin Gyatso and his holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama.

Samma Karuna is located in front of the beaches of Koh Phangan, a paradisiac island in the Gulf of Thailand. The accommodation is nestled amongst palm trees, beautiful beaches, and jungle landscapes with stunning mountain views. Thong Sala city center is only a 15-minute drive away. Crossing the street from the school, you will find an ATM.

Also you will be able to enjoy "Art Café" - a very famous and cozy coffee shop. The shopping villa Srithanu is just a 5-minute walk away and there you can find supermarkets, a recreational aquatic center as well as restaurants serving both local and international food.

¿Cómo llegar?

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Samui Airport (USM).

This is the nearest airport from Koh Phangan. From there, you have to take a connecting ferry to Koh Phangan. However, this airport is not an international airport. Between Bangkok and Koh Samui, there are many daily services run by Bangkok Airways with the flying time of about 50 minutes.

You can also book your flight to arrive at Surat Thani International Airport (URT). AirAsia flies from Bangkok to Surat Thani daily. The flying time is about 50 minutes. The transfer from Surat Thani International Airport (URT) to Donsak ferry port is by coach or taxi and takes about one and a half hours. At Donsak port, you will have to take the Raja ferry to Koh Phangan which takes three hours. Whilst the overall journey is longer than flying directly to Koh Samui, it can be cheaper to fly via Surat Thani, depending on the time of year.

Arrival by bus

There are many bus services from Bangkok to Koh Phangan. Most of these are sleeper buses. They can be booked from travel agencies in Bangkok or by going to the central bus station (Sia Thai). The journey takes about 10 hours to Donsak, the ferry port for boats going to Koh Phangan. From Donsak, the journey takes around three hours to Koh Phangan. Usually, the ferry is included in the price of the bus.

Arrival by ferry

You can take a ferry which leaves Koh Samui at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m from the Seatran pier. The Seatran pier is located near the airport, approximately a 10-minute drive. Besides, you can also take a ferry from the Lompraya pier at 8 a.m., 11.15 a.m., 12.30 p.m., and 5 p.m. The Lompraya pier is located 50 minutes from the airport. Please take this into consideration when booking the rest of your journey. The ferries arrive in Koh Phangan at Thong Sala Pier.

Arrival by train

Trains leave Bangkok several times daily and the journey time is about 12 hours. Sleeping booths are available for some services. Leaving the train at Surat Thani, the transfer by coach or taxi from Surat Thani station to Donsak Pier takes about one and a half hours. From Donsak, the ferry journey takes three hours to Koh Phangan.

There are two companies that run luxury coach services from Bangkok to Chumphon which takes about six hours. In Chumphon, you will have to transfer to a large express boat that stops on Koh Tao before arriving on Koh Phangan. The boat journey from Chumphon to Koh Phangan takes about two and a half hours.

Arrival by taxi

Local taxis are available from the pier. Please inform the taxi to go to Samma Karuna Srithanu. Please print out the instructions in Thai to give to the taxi driver. This will avoid any unnecessary delay and frustration. The taxi cost is approximately 200-300 THB per person.
