    Astronomical tour (3 hours duration)

Take an astronomical tour to one of the most technological private observatories in South America to marvel at one of the clearest night skies on the planet and immerse yourself in all the magic of the Universe. The Atacama Desert is the driest desert in the world. It is thanks to this lack of humidity that we can enjoy one of the clearest skies on the planet. That is why the Region hosts some of the most important astronomical centers worldwide as ALMA project, which has been attributed much of the important discoveries of recent years. Such is the number of stars that can be observed in the Desert of Atacama that it is said that the ancient pre-Columbian civilizations looked for their constellations in the scarce black spaces of the sky and not in the luminous ones as we do today. Passengers will be transported to Caracole´s street from where a mini bus will take passengers to Spaces Observatory.

The first part of the tour consists in an explanation of the naked eye sky. What do you see when you look at the stars, what is a constellation, how to recognize them, how to read a sky map and recognize the main stars. The guide will use a green laser pointer to show you unambiguously the various constellations. When the moon is visible, it is possible to take images of it through the telescopes. The observatory has the largest telescopes of any public observatory in South America (between 20 and 60 centimeters diameter), correctly aligned to always provide the best possible view, in order to let you discover some of the incredible views the sky has to offer. These telescopes are correctly maintained, and you will use the only high-quality eyepiece to provide clear, sharp wide angle views. The Observatory also has a 70 centimeters telescope that is currently the largest touristic telescope in South America. The tour ends with a warm drink and discussions. The tours last two hours and a half. The schedule varies during the year, and it starts later during the summer.

    Death Valley and Catarpe trekking

After your morning yoga class and breakfast, private transport will take you the beginning of the trekking: the enigmatic Death Valley, where there is no vegetation and wildlife. There is no presence of humidity making the place one of the driest and most inhospitable places on the planet. Its beauty lies in its spectacular geomorphology and topography, as it is a mountainous and sandy valley, where a lot of natural shapes and sculptures have been produced over millions of years in the silent Atacama Desert. The trail begins bordering the edge of this impressive valley with an unbeatable panoramic view of the place. After an hour and a half or trekking, you will reach the Catarpe tunnel, built in 1930. The important historical monument that served to transport cattle to the mines of the sector in the times of the saltpeter. Lunch will be served before entering the tunnel that will carry you to another completely surrealistic scenery with The Throat of the Devil.

Impressive passages of crystallized salt will transport you to another planet. Leaving the Devil's Throat, you will suddenly enter to the fertile Catarpe Valley that runs along the San Pedro River. Another beautiful and completely different landscape, impregnated with green tones that contrast dramatically with the red of the Salt Mountain Range, where you will be able to see how San Pedro constitutes a true oasis in the middle of the aridest desert of the planet. The trekking ends with a trip to the past. An interesting walk to the most important historical site of San Pedro: Pukara of Quitor. An archaeological site that contains much of the past of San Pedro since pre-Inca times in the twelfth century to the controversial arrival of the Spanish in the sixteenth century. The tour takes an sasy one-hour walk climbing to the lookout of the place to enjoy a stunning sunset with breathtaking views of Catarpe Valley, Death Valley, and the imposing Licancabur in front of you.

Moon Valley Trek and sunset. Ascent to Pukara

During your retreat, you can visit the Valley of the Moon. After the morning yoga class and breakfast, you will leave in private transportation to witness a magical evening in Kari, a mysterious sector of the Valley that is noted for its geological formations, high walls, caves and spectacular formations of salt, gypsum, and clay. Faults and folds eroded by wind and water. A whole experience, in this lunar environment under the pastel shades of the sunset and immersed in the mysterious silence of the desert that is only interrupted by the crackle of the salt with the drop of the temperature.

This excursion is susceptible to be changed depending on weather conditions that often require close access to Kari. In that case, it will be replaced by other similar activity within the Valley of the Moon, which offers many possibilities of beautiful and uncrowded routes.

    Puritama trek and hot springs

Enjoy a trekking and rejuvenating bath in the beautiful Puritama natural hot springs, immersed in a breathtaking landscape, with beautiful architecture and the best quality standards to enjoy a delicious outdoor lunch. A beautiful morning walks along the Puritama River surrounded by impressive giant cactus, upholstered ignimbrite rocks, which show the great volcanic activity of yesteryear. You will also be able to observe prehispanic storage cellars and rooms of the ancient era of the camelids caravans. Moderate hike about three to four hours of medium difficulty and 5.6 kilometers away. The trek ends in the spectacular natural pools of Puritama, to enjoy a well-deserved thermal bath after the hike. Delicious outdoor lunch in the hot springs facilities. Time to enjoy baths in this beautiful and tranquil setting, before returning by private transport to San Pedro de Atacama. During the afternoon, you will have the possibility to enjoy a relaxation massage in SPA of the town.

Tatio Geysers and Hotsprings (5 hours tour, 12 kilometers)

During your retreat, you can visit Tatio Geysers, the highest Geysers in the world. A beautiful two-hour tour will be a perfect opportunity to witness the heavenly landscapes of the Andean highlands: vicuna herds, rheas and vizcachas, generous lagoons full of birds, and other species that can only be observed in this fragile ecosystem. You will pass the picturesque village of Machuca with its beautiful church. You will have an interpretive tour In Tatio Geysers Park to explain its geological composition and surprise you with all the beauty and power of this true nature spectacle. You will be serving a snack. From there you will start your trekking to Copa Coya Hill. A beautiful journey through a wild and fragile highland landscape with salt marshes, vicunas and viscachas herds jumping playfully among visitors, seeking the warmt of the sun. You will discover a diverse vegetation composed mainly of yaretas, and impressive rock formation that reveals a very active volcanic past. You will get to see the natural pools of the hot Geysers where you will have a stretching and Pranayama sessions (if weather conditions permit it), before enjoying a well-deserved thermal bath in the natural pools, admiring a breathtaking scenery at a time of the day when almost there are no visitors, in order to absorb all the beauty and energy of this mystical place. You'll witness how the smoke cloud slowly grow when the temperatures drop at sunset. And when you return, a breathtaking nature´s show of colors from the plateau at sunset.
