This extra special New Year Eve's retreat will give you the opportunity for deep rest and relaxation, to strengthen your body, and the chance to start the new year with reformed healthy habits. As well as active yoga practices and peaceful meditations, we will have lots opportunities to connect with each other and the beautiful valley we will be living in with dancing, fires and walking. You’ll leave us nurtured, nourished, revitalized and ready for the best year of your life! You will join us on our beautiful, solar powered, off-grid site for the chance to get in touch with nature and truly disconnect from the stresses of day to day life. Sleeping in beautiful bell tents surrounded by the mountains and groves of lemon trees you will feel at one with nature and invigorated by the fabulous daily practice and workshops.

Accommodation is provided in beautifully furnished 5-metre bell tents. Nestled amongst the lemon and orange groves, the bell tents are simple but sumptuous, with electricity and comfortable beds. Each tent can sleep up to three people. Crisp bed linen and pool towels are provided. There are solar hot and cold powered showers facilities. Internet access is available. There is a small shop on site for all those little essentials you might need.


Styles of yoga

The morning sessions will be a dynamic offering of Elemental Hatha Yoga allowing you to explore the power and wisdom of Ayurveda and Chakras. You will have fun movement practices to create flow in your lives, tuning into your bodies and energy with intention, starting the year off in the right direction and learning how to move your bodies your way, with pleasure and joy.

You will be looking at the Indian Health System of Ayurveda, to balance the 3 energy states of Kapha (Earth and water), Pitta (Fire) and Vata (Air). Learning how to tune into the Chakra energy centres in the body and get in touch with your inner compass.

Evening sessions will be restorative, chilled out sunset practices of gentle slow Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) and Mindfulness Meditation. You will be using the support of blocks, straps and eye pillows.

To encourage rest, at the end of the day, you will practice Yoga Nidra to practice quieting the overactive conscious mind, slowing down brain waves and unwinding the nervous system. Using guided imagery, body scanning and meditation to aid relaxation, harmony and feelings of rejuvenation.

With Yin Yoga you will explore gradually, extending the depth of your yoga poses and length of time spent in them with ease and comfort, promoting your flexibility and stimulating your flow of energy, free from physical distractions. Then, Mindfulness Meditations, where you will learn to master the art of embracing the essential skills of mindful living, creating clarity, purpose, helping you to respond rather than to react, improving relationships, managing stress, anxiety and improving sleep.

Throughout the 6 days you will use the inspiration of the elements; Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether as you journey through the Chakras. Exploring the 4 Seasonal Archetypes, connecting to their style and which one you identify with.

On Day 1 you will start grounding with Earth and discovering the parts of you that are ready to bloom. In Day 2 with Water you unblock, cleanse, purify and release old energy from the previous year. In Day 3 with Fire, you ignite your soul fuel and what you desire for 2019. Then Day 4, with Air, you create space, visualizing where there is darkness, tension, blocks in your mind and bodies, releasing old habits and patterns, and bringing light, energy and freedom. Lastly on Day 5 with Ether, you express yourselves with your voices, creating personal affirmations and mantras to keep you moving when you feel discouraged or want to stop and making shifts in your perspective.

Workshop 1 - Moon Mandala + Journaling Session: Earthing and reconnecting

As you prepare to dive into the retreat, you align with what's most important to you, set intentions, deeply listening as you write, returning home to yourselves, awakening your dreams and nurturing your spirit. What do you want from this retreat? What do you want to shift or change? What part of yourselves would you like to unleash or wake up? You will create your own Moon Mandala to observe and record your mind, body and emotional states throughout the retreat and can continue it throughout the next lunar month. Using this beautifully visual tool will enable you to create sacred space, to keep aligned to your true selves and sustain your own self care rituals.

Workshop 2 - Vision board Session: Going with our own flow​

Creating a vision board with visuals and natural materials to learn your own unique self care formula. Through this process, taking time to love and nurture yourselves, stilling the voice in your heads in order to listen to the voice of your creativity more easily. Discovering tools to use anytime you feel confronted, overwhelmed or unsure to bring you back to your strength.

Workshop 3 - Fire Ceremony Mindfulness Preparation Walk​

Going on a mindfulness silent (optional) walk around the grounds where you can journal and collect objects that you feel drawn to in preparation for the Fire Ceremony. These journal entries and objects can symbolise and explore what you are grateful for from the year, what you want to let go of this year and the wishes you want to manifest into the next year. Later, these objects and journal entries can be offered into the fire to burn away the stuck emotions, beliefs, blocks that are holding you back and invite in all that you desire to manifest into your lives.

Workshop 4 - Fire Ceremony (NYE)

In the Fire Ceremony you intentionally raise your vibrations, sharing what you are grateful for and lessons learnt. You let go of what no longer serves you. Bringing with you the feelings, thoughts and patterns that have been holding you back, old habits and stories. Making space to focus your intention on new dreams, wishes and what you want to create, invite in and manifest now and for the year ahead. You will then feed this to the flames in an offering, whilst your companions hold and share the space, allowing the deep, clearing, cleansing, purifying power of the fire to transform you all. Finishing with relaxation by the fire.

Workshop 5 - Soul Story Visualisation Journey: Creating Space to Share into the Air.

It's easy to feel alone in your journey but when you share your stories you find the lessons within to create connection with others and the world you live in. Through the language of myth, symbols, archetypes and astrology you will go on a journey to find 3 different soul stories and the messages and medicine they hold for you now.

Workshop 6 - Medicine Wheel Mandala Making Session: Expressing ourselves into the Ether

Tuning into the energy cycles of the earth’s Seasonal Medicine Wheel you creatively explore and learn the wisdom of each step in the cycle. Tapping into the energy of the Solstices and Equinoxes you will create your own Medicine Wheel for the year ahead. Through this intentional creative process, you access both right and left sides of your brains when planning and making decisions.


Lucy Abel
Lucy is from Norfolk, UK and trained in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda in Spain in 2017 (Yoga Alliance Certified) and Swedish Full Body Massage. She uses elements from her training in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda to aid restoring the body safely and creating deep relaxation and harmony. Her passion is to share the gift of yoga and help people use it to express themselves and find their happiness and balance. She supports each student on their journey and ensures variations and adaptions for injuries, health conditions and physical limitations.

Rustic Retreats is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Espuna Mountains, southern Spain. This beautiful site has so much to offer to so many, they have an organic vegetable garden, fresh mountain spring water, solar power throughout, a beautiful swimming pool, earth-bag dome, stunning yoga platform on the side of the mountain, hammocks, orange and lemon trees, a tailor made pinewood meditation / relaxation cabin with views across the valley, outdoor showers so you can shower under the stars, and so much more. Totally off grid, zero light pollution. Stunning surroundings, beautiful, and simple accommodation are part of the Rustic Retreats charming environment.

Stimulate all your senses whilst you absorb the bright colors, beautiful textures, tantalizing flavors, and sublime aromas of the fresh food served at Rustic Retreats. The chef will create a myriad of fresh, healthy vegetarian meals to tantalize your pallet, all using the ripest, freshest, seasonal ingredients that are locally produced either from their very own organic garden and vegetable patch or from the local market and farmers.

Varieties of fruit are growing freely on the site such as lemons, oranges, almonds, pomegranate, and carob to name but a few. All vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared by a trained chef in the outdoor kitchen and are served 'al fresco' whenever possible. All meals are included in the price. The meals have been so popular with the clients that they are looking at producing a recipe book for next season.

Example menu:

Start the day with a fruit smoothie or refreshing mint tea.

Breakfast baby spinach omelet, cereals, fruit and French toast.

Lunch bell pepper frittata, bean and yogurt salad, and pumpkin bread.

Evening meal squash and zucchini casserole with wild rice and lemon tart.


All day snack menu is available but cost is not included in the price. Alcohol is available at a small extra charge.
