El objetivo final del yoga es simple: volver a nosotros mismos. Durante estos 6 días de retiro espiritual, explorarás la antigua práctica yóguica de unir la respiración y la conciencia corporal para alcanzar una solución pacífica y estado meditativo de la mente. Los yoga sutras declaran que cuando tenemos la mente tranquila permanecemos en nuestra verdadera naturaleza. El estilo de yoga que practicarás es un suave Hatha Flow y puede ser practicado por los estudiantes de todos los niveles. Accommodation is provided in beautifully furnished 5-metre bell tents. Nestled amongst the lemon and orange groves, the bell tents are simple but sumptuous, with electricity and comfortable beds. Each tent can sleep up to three people. Crisp bed linen and pool towels are provided. There are solar hot and cold powered showers facilities. Internet access is available. There is a small shop on site for all those little essentials you might need.
Starting your day with meditation or mindfulness, you get the chance to tune in with yourself, awaken your souls and prepare for the day to come and for your first yoga practice.
In the morning yoga session you will work on your Yang side; core- strength and - awareness, stamina, in an energetic, mobilizing and flowing yoga practice including postural work and attention to correct alignment and breathing. The session will end with a calming down second part and a final relaxation followed by a short closing meditation.
The evening session will be slower- paced, more directed to the Yin side with emphasis on posture awareness, release and lengthening;
Starting with a mobilizing warm- up of our muscles and joints and followed by diving into deep stretches in a Hatha- and Yin- based manner, before closing our practice with either meditation, mindfulness, Yoga Nidra or Autogenic Training.
The conjunction of our sessions and workshops are designed to guide our honest self- inquiry and observation and encourage investigation into our own practice, physical and mental habits, individual anatomic constitution of the body and patterns of our mind.
Connecting movement with breath is something I will put strong emphasis on as breath has the incredible and grounding power to naturally settle us into our body allowing us to perceive ourselves in our entity as a being.
You will find a concentrated and open working atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to focus on their individual concerns, listen to the messages of their bodies and realize that we dedicate each practice to
ourselves while following along the same red thread together, feeling the supporting energy of the group around and with us.
During the course of the Retreat You will receive a tool box full of useful and inspiring gadgets to take home with You and to apply to Your yoga practice and daily life.
During our joined journey we will welcome the influences of the beautiful nature of ‘Rustic’around us, contributing to our experience with its scents, air, soundscape and all its inspiring details nature provides us with every single day anew, especially intensely sensed in this period of year, the peak of summer.
We will have the privilege to sense our environment’s offers providing us with a width and expansion, a feeling of connectedness and freedom we cannot find in a comparable way indoors.
Times will vary slightly on each retreat. There is one workshop a day, it may be in the morning or afternoon. There is also the option to visit local markets on Wednesday and Sunday
Lara's (Vinyasa) teaching style is energetic, active and dynamic. Variation and diversity play a major role for her as she believes that a balanced practice with alteration of poses, movement principles (such as flow versus resistance, effort versus release, fast versus slow pace, …) applied as a colorful mixture, lead to a physical and mental state and a general perception of balance, stability and increased confidence.
The human body offers a great richness of movement vocabulary and Lara thinks the more we dive into this diversity, the more we can benefit from it and become aware of our possibilities, which consequently affects us in a refreshing and empowering way.
We will go on a discovery journey in an energetic exploration of fusing classical and contemporary dance elements with Yoga. By adding this even greater diversity of vocabulary, dynamics, variations and playfulness, we investigate into the richness of movements provided by the anatomic marvel of our body. To accompanying music we will float along, blur with time and gradually get slower paced and give in to a deep relaxation towards the end. We will find fun and excitement in our exploration process while following an active and concentrated practice opening our senses for the vast possibilities of our body.
Our 7 Chakras have a significant influence on our well- being and daily life. It is not only interesting to learn about them, their meaning and characteristics, but also we may use our knowledge to balance them after reminding ourselves of the influence which our Yoga practice can also have to help us with this as within the great alphabet of poses and philosophies we find many postures of specific purposes such as heart- opening, hip- opening, stress- and anxiety- relieving ones, and many more. In this context, we will create some groups of asanas for specific concerns where they can be beneficial.
Yoga may be practiced with a partner as well. In this manner we gain more profound insight into the physical principles behind each pose and their specificity and we may sense them with increased intensity. We furthermore become aware of how we use our balance and how to adapt our alignment and direction of weight in accordance with our partner. Apart from being a lot of fun, we get to deepen our understanding of the Yoga asanas we usually practice by ourselves.
There are many ways and styles of practicing Yoga and there are no better nor worse ones. It also depends on personal preference and style. Independently, for many of us using visualization and mental imaging in order to help us understand a posture better, to dive deeper into it and imagine the anatomic logic behind, using mental imaging can be an empowering force to identify and sympathize with a pose. Consequently, Lara will share some visual and mental images, ideas and tools with you. Some have been accompanying her in her practice for years and others have been entering her mind over time and proved to be useful for both her students and her daily practice. You might be surprised about the mental power imagery can provide you with and correct your alignment in a subtle and gentle way.
Towards the end of our joined journey it can result to be very valuable to share some ‘alone- time in togetherness in a reflective session on our individual experience of our time at beautiful Bagend. First, each of us will be given some private time to reflect and collect, perhaps write, create, find, or whatever comes into mind in that time while passing by one’s own journey. It is a time to fully dive into whatever we may have found, are finding in this very moment and can take home with us as a realization, memory, feeling, …In the end you are free to share or keep your findings to yourself and take your treasure with you or share it with your surroundings. This is your golden treasure you found or will find at the end of this retreat which nobody can ever steal from you and you can take with you as a physical manifestation or a saved, only visible to you, memory inside of you.
Lara is a professional contemporary dancer and this is how she got my first access to Yoga, within her dance training. Hungry for more profound understanding and the desire to share her insights after already having been teaching Yoga in summer youth camps, she completed my teaching certificate in (Hot) Vinyasa Yoga in 2016 and started sharing her passion for Yoga with more Yogis. Now, she is continuing her Yogic path and research while teaching Vinyasa, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Yin and Aerial Yoga. Her teaching style is welcoming, open, encouraging and very dynamic.

Stimulate all your senses whilst you absorb the bright colors, beautiful textures, tantalizing flavors, and sublime aromas of the fresh food served at Rustic Retreats. The chef will create a myriad of fresh, healthy vegetarian meals to tantalize your pallet, all using the ripest, freshest, seasonal ingredients that are locally produced either from their very own organic garden and vegetable patch or from the local market and farmers.
Varieties of fruit are growing freely on the site such as lemons, oranges, almonds, pomegranate, and carob to name but a few. All vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared by a trained chef in the outdoor kitchen and are served 'al fresco' whenever possible. All meals are included in the price. The meals have been so popular with the clients that they are looking at producing a recipe book for next season.
All day snack menu is available but cost is not included in the price. Alcohol is available at a small extra charge.
Fly into to Alicante, then it's a 2-hour train journey (6 EUR) through the beautiful Spanish countryside down to Totana station where Rustic Retreats will collect you.
