This retreat doesn’t entail harsh regimes or fasting. You will practice yoga together, exploring physical, mental, and spiritual balance through movement and breath. You will cook and eat together learning how food can nourish your body and balance your entire self. Also, you will reconnect with nature and with your natural self in the beautiful family run, ecological spaces that Rina Golan has carefully chosen for the retreat.

Holiday cottages

If you want an intimate rural retreat, try the three brick and flint, cottages that are let out as one, together with the huge sitting room in the Village Hall. They sleep up to 23 with some en-suite and some shared bathrooms. You can light up the fire in winter or enjoy alfresco dining on the terrace by the pool in the summer (pool open May to September). West Lexham has 21 acres of gardens, river, and lakes.

Arch holiday cottage

Arch holiday cottage (sleeps four to six people) has two big bedrooms with washbasins and large wardrobes. They can be set up as a super king-sized bed for single occupancy or a couple or as two twin beds. The huge double aspect sitting room has two top of the range large sofa beds that fold down to make proper beds.

The bathroom has a bath with a shower above. It also has a spacious well-equipped kitchen, with plenty of storage, and all the kit you need. There is a kitchen in each cottage but the hall cottage kitchen is usually used as the main catering kitchen.

Pool house holiday cottage

The pool house (sleeps five people) has an open plan mezzanine bedroom over the full height kitchen and sitting room. There are two single beds up here and another twin or super king-sized bed. Downstairs there is a single bedroom and a timber clad bathroom with shower. French doors open into the covered pergola that sits at the head of the pool terrace with spectacular views of the formal garden and lake beyond.

There are a large fridge / freezer gas oven and hob, dishwasher, and all the kit you need for catering here too, if you want to serve food by the pool. There is outdoor covered seating for 23 to dine and relax together. The pool is open from May to September and is heated by the biomass boiler which burns locally sourced woodchip, so is 100 percent sustainable. You and the owners have exclusive use of the pool.

Teaching yoga is a joy Rina has had the opportunity to offer guidance on the mat for the last 13 years. During the retreat, Rina Golan offers supportive, playful classes suited to beginners as well as those who have spent more time on a yogic path.

The classes focus on the liver and lymphatic system meridians using Vinyasa and Restorative yoga and breathing exercises to regenerate and support the nervous system. You will also look at companion breathing exercises to help alkalize the body and stimulate the liver function. You will finish the sessions with meditation or yoga Nidra, an ancient form of deep relaxation to set an intention and release deep tensions.

The retreat combines structure and space to just be, action and relaxation, an opportunity for learning and reconnecting, and opportunity for reflection. The retreat starts on Fridays at 16:00 (it’s okay to be late, just let Rina know) and finishes at 10:00 on Mondays.

    Rina is a well-being advocate, coach, yoga teacher, and healthy-living enthusiast. Rina went to India to deepen her understanding of Ayurvedic medicine, yogic conscious living, and the age-old laws of the mystics. Rina initiated into the ancient art of yoga at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala. She currently hosts detox or cleansing weekends and worldwide retreats, private vibrant lifestyle coaching, holistic rehabilitation programs, and private detox sessions. She is passionate about a balanced and holistic health.

West Lexham is a unique venue for rural retreats or countryside holidays, two hours from London, 75 minutes from Cambridge, and 45 minutes from Norwich. It is a work of passion and is crafted out of the heritage building that is the legacy of over 1000 years of farming and stewardship of nature. Set in a protected valley with the UK's cleanest chalk stream, it is verdant and bursting with nature.

West Lexham has floating water meadows, ancient trees, lakes, and formal gardens for you to explore. It is 90 percent run on renewables with solar panels for power and a woodchip boiler for heat. All of the water is fresh from the chalk aquifer making it rich in minerals and taste delicious.

Beautiful, organic, seasonal, and where possible, local food is central to this retreat. Together, you will prepare and eat both cooked and raw foods chosen to nourish the body and support mental and physical balance.

Nourishment is a core element of the work and the retreat includes guidance and education of how you can use food to rejuvenate the self. During your time together, you will learn how to prepare superfood shakes, smoothies, cook healthy delicious food, including raw chocolate and turmeric shots (all sugar, gluten, animal, protein free).

There will be free time for you to pamper yourself with some treatments.
