During this retreat, you will be staying at Soulshine Bali. It is a retreat oasis nestled between stunning rice field terraces of the village of Ubud. Soulshine offers a truly unique experience mixing the comforts of home, the community feel of an ashram, and the personal touch of a boutique hotel with an open-air yoga studio with breathtaking 360 degree views.
Soulshine Bali is an elegant mix of traditional Balinese and clean modern design. Situated along a bubbling river and surrounded by rice terraces, their goal was to create a property that flows with the natural curves of the landscape, and gardens that highlight the beauty of this tropical island.
Their yoga studio and spa room, located on the third floor of the Terrace Villa, have stunning views of the rice fields and jungle canopy, while the Soul Kitchen, and dining and bar terrace overlook the infinity edge swimming pool and diving platform.
Once in Soulshine, you can walk to Durga Temple through the rice fields, experience a traditional Balinese massage, splash in its endless swimming pool, chat with the friendly staff, plan an excursion, or indulge your self in its exquisite culinary delights. This is the perfect place to re-connect and unwind!
You will be accommodated at one of Soulshine's deluxe rooms with air conditioning and built-in wardrobes. There are two single beds or one king available in each room. All rooms have garden view. Each floor of the two story Lotus Villa building have their own bathrooms, each with two wash basins, showers, and toilets. The ground floor rooms share the downstairs facilities and the second floor rooms share the upstairs facilities.
Bali is one of the 17,000 islands in Indonesia, and is the only island where Hinduism is the main religion, so it plays a huge part in its open and welcome feeling. You will immediately notice how important their religion is to the Balinese in day to day Life. Bali’s landscapes, cultural heritage, people, beaches, music, and food holds mysteries for you to explore.
You will wake up with the sunrise and start the day with a 30-minute meditation (optional) followed by a yoga session especially designed for the morning, to open and strengthen the muscles, tune in to the breath, and connect with your own body and mind.
By 9:00 a.m., you will be ready for your delicious and healthy buffet breakfast next to the swimming pool. After this, comes free time! Enjoy space for yourself to walk through the rice fields, explore Ubud town, rent a moped, enjoy a massage, book a tour or a cooking class, or simply relax, rest, and be.
At 5:30 p.m. you will get ready for your evening yoga session. This will be a flowing class involving smooth movement from posture to posture in rhythm with the breath. This class is designed to build strength, flexibility, and concentration while cultivating awareness of the body.
As the week progresses, you will also integrate elements of yoga philosophy and mindfulness practice, to provide you with positive new understandings to benefit to your daily life back home. At around 8:00 p.m., you will enjoy your dinner, an exquisite Balinese style buffet done with tons of love and fresh products. Enjoy, rest, and repeat!
During this retreat, you will also have the opportunity to discover the secrets of Balinese food with Janet DeNeefe and her team. You will explore cooking techniques and the fascinating kitchen myths of this unique culture followed by a lavish Balinese feast and complete recipes.
One night, you will be amazed by this dance. You will visit an authentic Balinese home and after the traditional dinner, you will enjoy one of symbols of this magical island, the Legong dance.
In this downhill Bali countryside, you will be taken to the top of a volcano and then easily go downhill enjoying the quiet countryside of Bali’s back roads witnessing first-hand the daily life of rural life with an in depth explanations of the culture.
Born in Mexico, Rafael decided in 1997 to pursue his full time passion, the practice and study of Tibetan Buddhism. After a few years of meditation, he started to study Jivamukti yoga. He became a certified Jivamukti teacher in 2003 (300 hours) and received advanced certifications in 2007. Since then, he has become involved in Jivamukti teacher training as a mentor and translator, and as a Sanskrit Teacher in India, Mexico, and the USA. He thinks it must be in his genes, he is a healer. Although he is based in Mexico City, he travels often, giving sessions on yoga, Buddhism, and healing.
Janet was born in Melbourne, Australia. She met a Balinese man from Ubud in 1984, and without much thought, moved to this charming hillside town and threw herself into a new life. She and her family are the proud owners of Casa Luna and Indus restaurants, and more recently, Bar Luna. She also runs The Casa Luna Cooking School where happy tourists and others are taught the secrets of Balinese cooking.
This retreat will take place in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. Balinese culture is unique and famous especially for its rich and vibrant arts. Various forms of dance and music have made Bali's arts and culture scene one of the most diverse in the world. Hinduisim as the main religion is the major influence behind its development.
Music, drama, dance, and costumes become a feast for the senses during temple festivities. Rites of passage at Balinese family households can almost be seen daily, celebrating the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Offerings made from woven young coconut leaves are given to temples three times daily, with intention and gratitude.
During this retreat, you will be served two daily delicious and healthy meals, with complimentary drinking water from Soulshine. Soul Kitchen provides fresh organic food as a highlight for all of their guests. A delicious blend of Balinese and Western cuisine is served from morning to night under their open aired bamboo roof dining area, by their amazing local chefs who have created a menu that they have now become famous for.
All of their produce is organic and comes from their own garden at Soulshine, or from the local morning market just up the road. Soul Kitchen also provides vegetarian, vegan, raw, and non-vegetarian options, please let Omm Retreats know if you have any dietary requirements.
Lunch is not included in the price so you can enjoy at your own pace at Soulshine, at the fantastic Ubud cafes and restaurants, or when you are taking an optional excursion. Prices in Bali are inviting, about 10 USD for a good lunch.
During this retreat, you will have plenty of down time to allow you to relax in the villa, explore on your own the town of Ubud, rent a motorbike, take an optional excursion to other parts of the island, book an island temple tour or a beach day, or just enjoy the massage sessions at Soulshine.
After your long flight, you deserve a treat! You will experience an authentic Balinese massage right at Soulshine, so afterwards, you can just relax in the pool or take a healthy fruit juice. You may book additional spa treatments at an additional price at any time during your stay.
Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Omm Retreats will pick you up from the airport.
