We will stay in a family-run yoga and meditation retreat center, located on top of a small hill, 5 minutes away from the lake and away from other guest houses. It is very quiet and feels quite secluded - a perfect place to do the exploration within (as well as without), surrounded by green hills, overlooking the lake and admiring the imposing Himalayas. The center has a covered yoga hall with the impressive views of the lake and the mountains. The rooms are simple, but comfortable and clean. You can choose whether you wish to have a room with a private or a shared bathroom.

We will practice two times a day in a stunning yoga hall with the view of the Himalayas and the Lake. ​Marija teaches traditional Hatha yoga, with a lot of emphasis on the proper alignment of the body, breath and focus. Apart from asana (posture), we will practice pranayama (yogic breathing), as well as meditation in each class. The classes are organized as workshops, during which we will explore different physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the practice. The retreat is suitable for all levels. Beginners will have the chance to get the taste of yoga and build a strong foundation for their yogic journey. More experienced yogis will deepen their understanding and get some inspiration to further develop their practice.

Daily Schedule

​Mornings are reserved for our practice, which will usually take around 2 hours. We'll have an early start, and after the class, we will have a freshly prepared brunch.

Afternoons are filled with various activities – we will go on hikes into the mountains, or to visit local villages and see the traditional Nepalese lifestyle. On some days we will stay around the lake, swim, go on a boat ride and just soak up the incredible energy of this place.

Evenings will see us back in the center, having another shorter class (1-1.5 hours) before delicious home cooked buffet-style dinner around 7.00 PM. After dinner, there is free time for everybody.

All activities and classes are optional, and everybody is welcome to skip any of them any time they feel like it.

The retreat includes half-day or day long walks and visits to local villages. Possibility of renting bikes and boats to row on Begnas Lake.

  • Marija Drezgic

    Marija teaches Hatha yoga, infused with some elements of Vinyasa Flow and free movement exploration, with an emphasis on proper alignment, breathing, and focus. Her aim is to help students get a better understanding of their bodies and movements so that they can work together on developing their safe and sustainable personal practice. Meditation is an essential part of her classes. She invites her students to approach the classes with a playful mind without taking themselves too seriously, to play with their muscles, their stretch, and their thoughts.

The retreat will take place on the shores of Begnas Lake, some 13 kilometers away from Pokhara. While this area matches in beauty with Pokhara - with the calm waters of Begnas Lake and the views of Annapurna Range - it also offers the one thing that is missing in Pokhara: peace and quiet. There are just a few tourist facilities around, making it a perfect spot for a yoga and meditation retreat, as well as for enjoying a refreshing swim in the wonderfully clear Begnas Lake.

Brunch and dinner are included in the price of the retreat - they are served buffet style and are always freshly prepared. If you feel that you need another proper meal during the day, you can always order extra food at an additional cost. All the food served in the retreat center is vegetarian.

    Strongly Recommended!

    CONS No me gustó: There was nothing - and even if there had been - it would have been labelled and thrown away!

    PROS Me gustó: Marija is a great person and teacher - the yoga was about the right pace and the meditation which was a newer element for me was v well conducted. Ena and Venesa were tremendous. Milos produced excellent natural meals every time - and gave me a sandwich for my trip back to Belgrade! Was concerned - as am mostly a fish consumer (am 1/2 walrus!) - food situation might be a bit...well...militant vegan or vege - but the vegetarian meals were without exception top class. The star of the show are your surrounds in SW Serbia - pictures and words would not do it justice. Spectacular. You will be doing your practice at a number of different, unique locations - on a plain with a view of 3 countries - or in a clearing up in the mountains with a babbling brook as your soundtrack - or most impressively in front of world-class waterfall. Activities were great - a lot of hiking and exploring the nature of the area. Everything is simple and rustic - perfect to remove yourself from high-speed hustle and 'modern' life. I very strongly recommend this trip. There was plenty of physical and metaphysical space for reflection and meditation - but also time for a great laugh with others too - but that depends on how many buttocks you wish to clench! Was very fortunate to have a great group of people from around the world to do this course with - which undoubtedly helps any course like this - hopefully you will be lucky enough to spend a week with a bunch of Savage Carrots too!

    Stunning location to practice yoga

    PROS Me gustó: To practice yoga outside to the sound of waterfall and view of mountains was amazing experience. Lots of walking in beautiful surroundings too. Marija was a great host and milos cooked amazing meals.

    PROS Me gustó: Marija is a great teacher and a person. I loved her calm, focused and fun way of teaching. She took very good care of everyone. The place was stunning and food was excellent. Accommodation is simple - beds arent that comfortable. I recommend this retreat highly, especially if you are into hiking.

    "The yoga retreat in Tara Mountain was a wonderful experience! It was a good opportunity to go deeper in my yoga practice but also to have a break in an amazing place - wild and beautiful. The other activities, mostly hikes, were really well linked with yoga and meditation. It was a good opportunity to discover a new country and landscapes and practice yoga in a piece of heaven. The yoga classes were really good: a mix of asanas, meditation, and pranayama. Marija is a good teacher and she was fully dedicated to the retreat and the group. I warmly recommend this one week retreat!"

    "None of the beautiful pictures I saw before going on this trip could truly convey of its feeling of breathing the fresh air between the trees and doing sun salutations on a misty morning, light peeking through the clouds. Nature on Tara Mountain is simply all-encompassingly beautiful. The yoga classes were all well-structured and thoughtful, a great way to get deeper into the practice. The hikes tied in nicely with that, from quite easy to a bit more advanced, always leading through stunning nature. Marija is a warm, dedicated person and teacher.     "This retreat was beautiful. From being welcomed and warmly cared for, from Marija and owners of the accommodation, too. The retreat was located in Tara Mountain surrounded by amazing nature. Morning and evening yoga and meditation practice were for the whole group of different conditions and levels. Marija is very committed, calm, and great teacher with the knowledge to the smallest details.     "I think the experience has been absolutely incredible. There is a wonderful mix of incredible teachers who have deepened my practice but also taught me so much about interesting things that I would never know about - from really interesting hikes in archaeological sites here in Turkey, all the way through delicious food, Sufism, and face painting. Literally, the array of the things we did was wonderful. It was a great balance of intense yoga but also enough free time to recuperate afterward. The natural beauty of Turkey in the south was amazing; some of the views on the hikes literally took my breath away. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested."

    "I came on My Yogic Adventure because I wanted to get a bit fit, I wanted to have a holiday, but I also wanted to get my muscles moving again. I had not done yoga in a really long time and I wanted to get back into the practice. But actually what I got was so much more than my body being a little bit fitter and a little bit stronger and not being so lazy anymore. What my body learned was amazing and I will take those principles home with me, but what my mind learned was the best part - to change the way I have been thinking completely and to look at things differently. I learned a little bit of mindfulness, to sit still a little bit, and consider things objectively. I came here to have a holiday and I really feel that I am going home as a better person."

    "During my two month stay in Kathmandu, I stayed at Alobar 1000, where Marija taught yoga every morning. She was an integral part of my enjoyment during this period and is a talented and clearly dedicated teacher. Prior to coming to Marija, my experience of yoga teachers was reserved to those who would quickly rush through poses and very rarely go into detail. Marija took the time to explain how one properly gets into the pose and so gain the most benefit in a way that encouraged your development and understanding. She was patient and hands-on in approach, allowing for all levels to simultaneously enjoy the class independently, but with her support and guidance when it was needed. She was also very willing to answer any questions that we had, which is only complemented by her openness and approachability. Her shavasana at the end of the class is also something to look forward to and is particularly rewarding. A truly wonderful teacher the like of which I have not enjoyed since but one I highly recommend. I still enjoy what she taught me to this day and continue to develop my confidence and ability.
