Seven Springs is a holistic retreat center, nestled in the bio-diverse foothills of the smoky mountains on 126 acres of mostly forested hills. With seven natural springs and an abundance of native species, each spring corresponds to each chakra, giving potency to the fresh water that flows from within the earth.

The smoky mountains are the world's oldest mountains and one of the world's most ecologically diverse regions, featuring temperate rain-forest climate with over 17,000 species of plants and animals. This incredible biodiversity adds to the abundant richness of Seven Springs.

Kula Collective Yoga Retreat in USA Program

Kula Collective will discuss concepts of spiritual space holding group trust, the community and the concept of oneness, holistic teaching design, ethics and dharma, artistic expression and creativity, and compassionate communication. A special emphasis will be placed on the art of giving and receiving feedback.

Kula Collective has outlined this training to be an experiential training which you all co-create as facilitators together. You will have several chances to facilitate during the course in both group and individual settings. As a group, you will take time and space to debrief and share reflections, wisdom, and new perspectives.

In addition to the art of facilitation, the facilitator intensive offers an experiential component for those who are interested in pursuing the Kula path. The intention of this experiential aspect of the training is to provide a solid foundation for upcoming Kula facilitators to prepare for the roles of apprenticing and co-facilitating 200-hour yoga teacher training with The Kula Collective. This training does not guarantee a role as a Kula facilitator but is an important and required step on the path.

Each morning, prospective facilitators will teach the signature Kula Flow weaving in relevant themes and spiritual intentions. This is an opportunity for students to increase their level of confidence in teaching and to prepare for the potential of facilitating the Kula Flow in 200-hour level training. Students will receive constructive feedback on their teaching to address ways in which they can improve their overall deliverance of a Kula Flow yoga class. Participants will be provided with Kula basic Flow and signature sequences prior to arrival.

Asana practice teaching will include:

  • Teach the Kula basic Flow
  • Teach the Kula Flow with variations
  • Teach two creative flows incorporating selected Kula signature sequences

Each afternoon will focus on breaking down the four arts: Art of Practice, Art of Teaching, Art of Living, and Art of Healing. The intention is to provide prospective facilitators with tools to guide a yoga teacher training that meets the protocol for Kula Collective and Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level.

As an essential part of the learning process, students will receive constructive feedback on the topic presentation, organization, student engagement, and comfortability in presenting their lesson plan. Participants will be provided with pre-course homework for preparation where applicable.

Practice facilitation will include:

  • Present a pre-assigned topic related to the Art of Practice. Topics may include holistic practice design, meditation, pranayama, mudras, bandhas or intention setting. Pre-course homework will be to prepare a 30-minute lesson to share with your peers and Kula facilitators.
  • Present a portion of an Art of Teaching class using the Kula-designed, step by step facilitation process for sharing asana analysis (asana techniques, the anatomy of pose, variations, modifications, alignment, and assists). Assignments will be given during the course, and the lesson will be shared with peers and Kula facilitators.
  • Present a pre-assigned yoga sutra for the Art of Living class. Pre-course homework will be to prepare a 30-minute lesson to share with their peers and Kula facilitators.
  • Present an assigned topic related to the Art of Healing. Topics may include chakras, Ayurveda, Kriyas or Shamanism. Assignments will be given during the course, and the lesson will be shared with peers and Kula facilitators.
  • Students will also have an opportunity to co-create in small groups an evening Satsang. Satsang sharing may be inspired by kirtan, ceremony, community building, trust building, artistic expression, creativity, or compassionate communication. Assignments will be given during the course and the lesson will be shared with peers and Kula facilitators.

Since a young age, Jessi has studied dance and creative movement. Since her first 200-hour registered yoga teacher training in 2008, Jessi has led retreats and workshops throughout the US, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Costa Rica. She completed her 500-hour registered yoga teacher training hour certification in 2012 and now leads teacher training in these places she most enjoys to share.
Cheralee Jones
Cheralee is a traveling yogini, musician, and nature lover. She discovered the path of yoga when she moved to the magical island of Maui, Hawaii in 2007. Soon after, Cher left to spend a year in India to connect with the birthplace of her life's work. Cher has found that precise alignment in asana can heal many problems in the body structure and can create a bridge to align thoughts, words, and actions. She has traveled around the world and studied with great teachers from various yogic lineages. She learns daily by witnessing the rhythms of nature at work.
