Kin-Hin Zen Centre offers homestay accommodation and has two large and airy guest rooms with a private sit-out. The rooms are well-furnished with modern en suite bathrooms, which provide solar-heated hot water. Wi-Fi, filtered water, a fridge, tea, and coffee are all available for you.

Yoga

Yoga is especially important in today’s world and lifestyles as the need to combine body, mind, and spirit becomes increasingly essential in order to remain balanced. Regular practice brings about subtle changes in one's approach to life. Exercising the body and stilling the mind produces an inner peace. This peace is one's true nature and the essence of yoga and meditation practice.

Meditation

Meditation sittings are open to all and are usually held early mornings and late afternoons according to interest.

Za means sitting. Zen, deriving from the Sanskrit “dhyana”, means meditation. In its beginning stages, zazen is a practice of concentration. But more than just meditation, zazen is a powerful tool for self-inquiry. Through zazen, one can come to grasp dozens of definition for zen. To forget one's self and be enlightened by the ten thousand things, through that understanding you will have the potential to transform your life.

Zen is not a technique to be learned, it is more of an attitude toward life and zen meditation is a superb spiritual practice with no technique to learn and no promises extended. Understanding zen means understanding yourself. This understanding cannot be found in books. One needs to experience zen and the experience needs to be first-hand. Zen is to experience observing all your thoughts without acting on them. Be a master of your mind and not a slave.

  • Karen Sivan

    Karen came to India in 1997 for a three-week holiday and decided to make Kerala her home. For 10 years, she ran yoga and massage holidays in Kovalam. From 2007 until mid-2012, she lived, worked, served, and followed Zen at Bodhi Zendo, blessed to have guidance and support from Zen master, AMA Samy. She then returned to the "marketplace" and began a new chapter with Kin-Hin. She is also a qualified aromatherapist with over 20-year experience. Her diploma in holistic aromatherapy was obtained from the Tisserand Institute in London in 1993.

  • Sivan

    Sivan grew up in Pachalloor, is an experienced yoga teacher in India and Europe, and has a wealth of local knowledge about the area and its customs.

This retreat takes place in Pachalloor, Kerala, India. It's a peaceful location with stunning views. Close to Trivandrum International Airport (TRV), Kovalam is the closest tourist beach, being about a ten minute drive away.
