For this retreat, Kelly Brooks Yoga only offers camping accommodation. You will need to bring your own tent and sleeping bag. There is one indoor bathroom and toilet, and 2 outdoor compost toilets and showers. Casalino is a very old rustic house immersed in the nature so the facilities and accommodation are of the basic quality you would expect to find at such a place. However, improvements on the house are constantly being made.

Staying at Casalino is reasonably comfortable but it is not a holiday resort so you must be prepared to take care of your own needs of comfort and personal requirements. The house is not connected the electrical grid. There is only a small solar system; therefore, your electricity is very limited, but there is enough to run small devices such as mobile phones chargers, etc. It is the perfect excuse to switch off from social media for the week and give your body the break it deserves.

Flow of the day

This unique retreat begins with intention, vision and goal setting in the opening session on Sunday morning and ends with a heart-centered closing on Friday morning followed by a celebration of yoga, food and the friendships you have made over the week. There will be additional yoga workshops in the day depending on students needs throughout the week.

Mornings

You will wake to the smell of home baked sour dough bread and of course being in Italy there is coffee in abundace. If that doesn’t wake you up the yoga is designed to, we will work on a stronger sequence in the morning, but don’t be put off, there are always options or child’s pose. The yoga will take place on the platform outside and you will struggle not to be distracted by the picturesque view.

Over the week, you will learn about Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Iyengar yoga. Kellys wonderful assistant will also be on hand to offer adjustments and support throughout the class. Following yoga, you will enjoy an Italian vegetarian healthy farm-to-table, brunch outside on the terrace, overlooking the forest.

Afternoons

Afternoons are entirely for you, everything on this retreat is optional as this is your holiday. There will be plenty of downtime for napping, reading, dining on regional, vegetarian cuisine, and sipping local wines. You can relax, read, take an excursion to swim in the waterfall, hike to the monastery or explore the medieval abandoned village. At sunset, you will re-convene on the yoga platform for a relaxing and rejuvenating yoga and meditation practice together with a focus on Yin, yoga Nidra, Restorative, and meditation.

Evenings

Evenings are pure magic as you will share your meal in family style under the stars, appreciating the simple life of sumptuous tastes, good food, music and great company. Your last night will be a special evening of yoga, Italian food and entertainment.

Casalino is the name of this old farmhouse situated in an area in the east of Tuscany called the Casentino in Italy. The house is reached by an old stone road only accessible on foot or by 4WD. Casalino lies within the Foreste Casentinese National Park - an area of about 36,000 hectares of uninterrupted forest - and thanks to this the original fauna for reclaiming its place.

With porcupines, wild boar, roe and fallow deer and even wolves rambling the landscape, it is easy to feel as though you are the intruders. The many footpaths leading through the park make it easy and pleasurable to explore the environment.

One point of great importance and spiritual interest is the Sanctuary of St.Francis of Assisi - La Verna - which is just 1.5 hours walk from Casalino through an age old beach forest known as the enchanted forest. Being so deep in the wilderness away from civilisation, Casalino very much creates a feeling of retreat from day to day life. Its the perfect setting to immerse yourself in nature, unplug from your daily life, and reconnect with yourself.

All meals on the retreat are vegetarian. The food is freshly-made, good quality wholesome home cooking. Kelly Brooks Yoga tries to use as much seasonal and local produce as possible to create a variety of both typical Italian dishes and delicious worldly creations.

Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. All water flowing into the camp is fresh mountain spring drinking water.

There will be plenty of downtime for napping, reading, dining on regional, vegetarian cuisine, and sipping local wines. You can relax, read, take an excursion to swim in the waterfall, hike to the monastery or explore the medieval abandoned village.

The nearest village to the retreat is Rimbocchi, which is 1 hour walk away. The nearest town and main transport hub is Bibbiena. From Bibbiena, Kelly Brooks Yoga will organize a transfer to the retreat center. This service is included in the price.

Arrival by airplane

  • There are several options. You have to shop around and find what suits you.
  • Pisa Airport, 5 hours distance, is the cheapest option to reach the retreat center and hosts Ryanair and Easyjet.
  • Perugia Airport, 5 hours distance, is also a good option and hosts Ryanair.
  • Bologna Airport, 5 hours distance, also hosts Ryanair and Easyjet.
  • Florence Airport is also a good option and only takes 3 hours but only hosts expensive airlines such as ba.com, alitalia.it and lufthansa.com.
  • Rome has the nearest intercontinental airport for flights arriving from outside Europe and also offers flights within Europe with ryanair.com and easyjet.com

  • You can reach Florence by bus from most European cities. If you are travelling from London, you must change in Paris and Milan.

    "It was our first yoga retreat and it was a really good choice. Still in Europe but in a very remote place. The place is equipped modestly, however, still to be just one step behind the comfort zone which is great for deepening your self-awareness. The food was absolutely delicious and always available. Morning yoga started at 8:30 - great for us those who don't like waking up too early. Kelly is a great yoga instructor. She adapted the yoga lessons to our skills. Moreover, she is able to unite the group and she is very friendly."

    "I was a massive skeptic of yoga - I always thought it was chanting with beads and wind-chimes in the background like a big hippie convention. My first class with Kelly was a pleasant surprise, she is really engaging and combines an uplifting and energizing soundtrack (she does monthly playlists on her blog - check them out) with challenging yet also relaxing yoga positions and routines.Having completed a few classes, I took the dive and opted to join her off-the-wall creation 'Club Yoga' which combines a great venue with disco balls, rope lights, balloons, dancing, partner yoga and one hell of a playlist. I have never felt so energized from a workout and cant wait for the next one, its once a month. Thank you Kelly for changing my perspective and bringing a new and much needed 21st century slant to something that had become way too rigid"

    "I went along to one of Kellys Club Yoga nights and had a fab time! I went on my own and felt a little nervous as I had never been to anything quite like it before but she soon put me at ease.     "Kelly is a wonderful yoga teacher! She's so friendly and welcoming and her classes are always fun - she manages to bring something new to each class. Kelly introduced me to yoga in a very friendly and professional way, writing one on one session for me each week which I was lucky enough to attend, sometimes in the park, sometimes in her very relaxed studio space in Vauxhall.
