During your retreat, you will stay at the beautiful Bhole Baba ashram, where devotees offer their practice daily, a perfect location to contemplate and connect to the divine around and within. Cisternino itself is a region known for its trulli, the characteristic stone buildings with a conic roof that are also part of the ashram structure. The Kirtan hall is hosted in a trullo, as well as the ashram’s dormitories and the kitchen area. They offer different accommodation options from private single rooms to various shared rooms. Private rooms are very few, so you'll need to book early.

The Bhole Baba Center of Cisternino is a beautiful ashram that has been created in 1979 as first Babaji ashram in the Western world. Babaji's teaching is universal, respectful of each religious belief. It does not offer a new religion, but the thousands of years old science of yoga, the knowledge of the mind, and the way of the heart.. Babaji tradition is one of the mystical and authentic lineages of India's ancient yoga tradition.

The ashram life is a school where you learn to know your own self and to discover the presence of the divine within you. It is the perfect setting for our auspicious journey, where there are so much blessing energies of grace, Bhakti yoga (devotion), and Karma yoga - the yoga offering each action to the divine.

The Ashram also features the Dhyana Yogi Dhuni built in 1990, where a sacred fire burns continuously, bridging skies and earth: it’s a place of union and meditation, where every day the devotees perform and offer rituals with devotional chants, according to the ancient Veda tradition. Other structures of the Bhole Baba Center, built by devotees over time, include a library, a chai shop, a yoga and meditation room, a bookshop, as well as washing, farming, and animal care facilities.

Yoga practice

Journey to Your Heart sadhana (practice) incorporates asana, mantra, mudra, pranayama, and meditation to explore your totality from the physical body to the subtle body, and to the inner most being. Yoga supports you to live in the very "core" of the existence, to live a fully embodied life that is a gift to be celebrated and embraced with joy. The alignment-based practice welcomes all levels and ages of students as they are guided into a correct alignment of asana safely. Much focuses are on breath and energetic flow within.

Discussion

You will have a plenty of time to learn and discuss various topics. The topics include but are not limited to subtle body anatomy, chakras, pancha maha bhutas (five great elements), prana (energy), bhakti (path of love), mythology, radical affirmation, tantra, spiritual heart, and self-inquiry.

Rebirthing with live handpan music

Rebirthing is a conscious circular breathing technique to evolve and express the vital energy. It's used as a tool to expand and transform our consciousness. This simple yet powerful technique works holistically in your body. It helps to remove emotional blockages or traumas that no longer serve you.

Positive affirmations will change some aspects of your past that till now limited your life and your full potential, you will make a clear decision of the way you want to live your present and future without fear and more clarity. The session is guided by the sound of handpan, which has a special frequency for healing benefit.

Shamanic breathwork ceremony

Shamanic Breathwork is a special rhythmic breathing technique that will bring the expansion of the heart and deep connection within. The ceremony is guided and supported with various shamanic musical instruments to call back ancestral vibrations of healing. The intention is to guide your center of perception, to perceive the reality not from your mind, but from your heart. No filter of ego or fear, but only love. This is an experience of unconditional love and surrender that you can recall for all your life. You will have two ceremonies during the retreat.

Kirtan

Call-and-response style chanting and collective expression with music, is so powerful to open the heart to the full, and experience the glimpse of our eternal self and the unconditional love. Sanskrit mantra is a divine speech and vibration that helps to clear any blockages to become more free, open, and vibrant. The outcome of kirtan is an effortless state of Sahaja, the natural state of who you are: Sat, Chit, Ananda - pure being-ness, pure awareness, and absolute bliss that does not require any validation from outside. You are blissful in the essence!

Kindly note that the Bhole Baba ashram offers daily aarti (offering ceremony) and you are welcomed to participate in them to immerse yourself in classical Tantric bhakti practice of devotion, service, and love.

Men's and Women's circle

You will gather as men and as women, to share and discuss various topics including Tantric sexuality. It is a collective empowerment to remind the beauty of each other, and inspire each other in each unique embodiment.

"We attended a 4 day workshop on Pranayama led by Akari, set in a wonderful, peaceful, natural landscape. Akari was an excellent teacher and showed us several techniques, with very useful background information on the topic. She was very knowledgeable, accessible, articulate and patient. My partner has a background in yoga and I was approaching it from a mindfulness perspective, and we both found the content and delivery to be a fantastic introduction to this subject. Since then we've been practicing and sharing Pranayama with others in our home town, as we were so enthused and impressed by Akari's example of being a genuine Yogi. Anyone who has the opportunity to learn about Yoga and Pranayama with Akari is wise to take up the chance. They will be able to develop and help themselves and others."

"Since the first class I took with Akari, I felt really comfortable. I felt Akari shares her class deeply from the heart and this is what I love, then I could relax and connect. She makes students to be confident doing their practice, even if it is for beginner students. She explains very clearly the basics, and also if someone wants to go deep, but without forcing anybody."
