Reconnect to your inner nature in the stillness & beauty of Little Petra. Enjoy an opening circle, meditative walk, vinyasa flow yoga sessions, fire ceremony, 1001 stars, chakra meditation & closing circle as part of your desert journey.
During this retreat you will stay in a shared tent at the Ammarin Bedouin camp. The camp is beautifully located in a serene and pretty corner of the Beidha rocks. Its design is typical of the Bedouin's semi-nomadic history. It is a down-to-earth setting with real hospitable service and lots of smiling faces. Your accommodation is in (Bedouin) tents that are furnished with single or double beds, a night table, carpet and electricity socket. It has a large toilet & shower building with hot water in the evenings. In the middle of the camp is the famous fire place where there is always tea, in evenings with spontaneous music and Bedouin dancing! Our yoga is on a short walk from the camp, somewhere on the rocks with amazing views over Little Petra at sunset.
Visit Little Petra, a small canyon with some beautiful facades and the one and only mural that has been left.
This retreat will be held at Little Petra in Jordan. Petra was a Nabatean caravan-city and an important cross road between Arabia, Egypt, and Syria-Phoenica. The Nabateans were a kind of predatory nomads who played an important role in transporting the goods. By charging road tax they gained great wealth and power that was used to carve and build their facades in the rocks.
The nomads gained different kind of views on architecture which resulted in a design of the tombs in which you still can see influences of other tribes, nations, or empires. The history of the Petra site is endless, many Nabatean kings threats from other Kingdoms and occupations of the Romans, Christians, and later even by the Bedouins. In 1812, Johann Ludwig Buckhardt succeeded to rediscover Petra, which was kept secret for a long time. In 1929 the first excavations took place.
The area of Petra is huge and even in the neighboring village, Little Petra, you can find tombs. The Siq al Barid (the cold Siq) was kind like a suburb of Petra. There, the goods were saved and registered. Several temples can be found which must have been offices, houses, and warehouses. In one of the facades even frescoes can be seen. Although these are damaged by Bedouins who were previously living in this caves, still some of the images can be seen.
During this retreat you will be served a dinner on arrival day and breakfast on the second day. Specific dietary can be accommodated for upon request.
Visit Little Petra and climb up to the the little tea shop with serene & intimate views of the rocks. One can enjoy amazing hikes in the area or opt for a horse ride. For those who wish to relax we can offer a Thai massage or meet Sandra's herd at the nearby stable for an inspiring horse wisdom session. Horses intuitively reflect our authentic being and respond to the slightest change in awareness, thus helping us to transform limiting beliefs and to become more powerful in our expression of self. They give us powerful and lasting insights that will encourage us to manifest change. This is an optional activity for minimum 2 persons.
During this retreat, you may book a Thai yoga massage offered by Sandra Jelly. The session is one and a half hours and ends with a Chrystal Chakra balancing session. Price is 40JOD.
