During this retreat, you will stay either in a private or a shared villa at the Mala Dhara Eco Resort. The villas at the resort were made with intention using earthen adobe structures. From the hand-picked furniture and the view from the windows, you'll find that each detail has been considered to delight your senses. There are six villas available and they all have air conditioned rooms, a fan, mosquito nets, Wi-Fi connection, a refrigerator, bathrooms, and beautiful views.
The bamboo villa is a large, high-ceiling villa with a spacious indoor sitting area, one king-sized bed or two twin sized beds, an indoor bathroom with moonlight views, and an enormous outdoor veranda with a lusciously curved couch for lounging or entertaining friends. This villa is only available as double occupancy.
The Dhara villa offers guests an opportunity to stay in a room with a unique, individual design, large interior, and an always enticing wooden bathtub. Enter a bit further and you will notice the large comfy double bed tucked back into its own cozy nook and sweetly shrouded in a cotton mosquito net. Enter a bit more and you will invariable be swept up by the enticing vision of the vintage wooden bathtub and large rain shower in the beautifully designed bathroom.
The villa is available as single or double occupancy. It can accommodate one person with one king sized bed, one couple sharing a king-sized bed, or two twin beds with two people sharing a room.
The Hobbit villa has a calming atmosphere with hand made round doors and specially designed steel work on both the main entrance and the bathroom doors. The villa beckons guests to stay and enjoy the spaciousness of its interior and sitting area, warm curves, and enormous poster bed with cotton mosquito net.
The bathroom has a rain shower and artisanal wooden bathtub.
The villa is only available as double occupancy that can be distributed in two twin beds with two people sharing a room or one couple sharing a king-sized bed.
The Jai Dee villa, is smaller than the other villas, but offers the same standard of design, amenities, and comforts as the other rooms. This location offers the most private setting to stay at the resort and perhaps the most unique. When opening the rounded windows of the villa, you will be immediately struck by the sweeping views of the distant mountains of Doi Saket, preceded gently by the vast expanse of green rice fields.
The villa is available as single or double occupancy. It can accommodate one person with one king-sized bed, one couple sharing a king-sized bed, or two twin beds with two people sharing a room.
The Mala villas are specially designed villas that can be fashioned as two private villas (A and B) with a shared outdoor bathroom. The villas have separate entrances and are connected by a door that can be completely closed off for separate guests or used for family and friends sharing a connected villa. The outdoor bathroom is only two meters away from the villa.
The villas are only available as a two single occupancy. Each include a king-sized bed.
This retreat will benefit beginners, intermediates, and even experienced practitioners looking for variety in their yoga practice. During this retreat, you will experience a variety of wellness modalities that will awaken the inner wisdom of your whole being. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the many parts of yourself-- the physical, mental, and emotional body and our soul energy. In doing so, you will gain tools for self-care and build your self-awareness.
Hatha, restorative, and laughter yoga will be offered, as well as tension-trauma releasing exercises, body scan, breath work, and meditation. QiGong and inner dance sound healing will be used to open up your energy. Two evenings will include a delightful visit to the nearby hot springs and an herbal sauna. By the end of the retreat, you will have learned how to practice a healthy relationship with yourself. This will then extend out into your relationships, job, lifestyle, and how you engage with the world.
This retreat will take place during Thailand's high season, a very busy travel period. Do book early, as this retreat is expected to sell out! With only 7 luxury villas available, most units will have twin beds for sharing a room. If you would like to share a room, we will put participants of the same gender in the same villa.
One evening will be spent relaxing at the local hot springs, a short drive away from Mala Dhara Eco Resort.

Tammy is the creator of Hanuman Yoga Retreat. Originally from California, she has been an expatriate in various countries, as well as a world traveler for the past 14 years. Combined with her love of travel and teaching, Tammy’s own transformative path has inspired her to share her healing practice with others around the world. Tammy brings a light-hearted, calm, and self-inquiry approach to her teaching, and aims to make her classes as accessible as possible.
This retreat will take place at the Mala Dhara Eco Resort in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The resort is nestled between lush views near the Doi Saket district hot springs. It features a large restaurant and veranda with unbelievable views, a salt water pool, two yoga shalas, and an organic farm that sits on several rice fields directly adjacent to the resort that serve as the primary source of vegetables, rice, peanuts, and limes for their restaurant.
At the location, you can sit by the rice fields, take a bicycle ride around the village, stop to smell the flowers, or walk barefoot around the organic farm. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy the gardens, as well as the herbal sauna and bonfire on the farmland.
During this retreat, you will enjoy three daily healthy vegetarian buffet meals. The Mala Dhara Eco Resort and organic farm features the Kin Dee restaurant which offers fun, fresh, local, organic, and quality meals in every way possible.
The restaurant strives to pour and take the source, quality, and taste of all of the ingredients. The Mala Dhara menu changes with the seasons, the harvests and the creative juices flowing through the kitchen. They prepare vegetarian meals that stand on their own for your attention and to delight your senses.
If you'd like to order outside of mealtimes, they have an amazing menu with many options to suit your palate. The Kin Dee restaurant opens daily and you'll be surprised and delighted by the flavorful, creative, and abundance of the organic Thai and western meals. There are always many dishes to choose from the buffet, ranging from savory to sweet.
During your free time, you can book additional body treatments or take a bicycle ride around the village. You can stop to smell the flowers, walk barefoot around the organic farm, or enjoy a motorcycle ride through the surroundings.
During this retreat, you can book a body treatment or massage for an additional cost.
Please book your flight to arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. Please ensure that your flight to Chiang Mai arrives by 4 p.m. to be able to join the first yoga session.
If you are coming from Chiang Mai, you can take a a yellow pick-up truck. Proceed to the famous Warorot market in downtown Chiang Mai along the river. You will see the yellow trucks waiting for customers going to Doi Saket and beyond. Take the yellow truck all the way to the town of Doi Saket. Get off the bus and walk towards up the hill and the temple steps until you see the motorcycle taxis gathered on your left. Tell the motorcycle taxis to take you to Mala Dhara.
If you are arriving at the Chiang Mai International Airport and you are unsure of how to proceed, Hanuman Yoga Retreat and Mala Dhara can assist you in arranging your transportation services directly from the airport to Mala Dhara. Alternatively, you can book a taxi at the airport counter for a fixed price. The journey takes about 40 minutes.
