This winter, join Dr. Venky's Shivshakti Yoga's retreat to immersion in traditional and modern aspects of yogic practices. They are accredited by Yoga Alliance USA. Their training methods take a scientific approach to the understanding of yogic practices. Students are made aware of the scientific explanations for practices like kriyas, bandha, asana, pranayama, and meditation, and are thus better equipped to teach these practices in the secular setting of modern yoga centers and gyms.
You will be accommodated in a twin room on sharing basis.
You will board from Singapore by Singapore Airlines at 7.45 a.m. and arrival in Mumbai at 10:35 a.m. After the journey of 5 hours 15 minutes flight, you will arrive at Mumbai. You will meet the organizer at the airport exit, and transfers to the retreat venue by private vehicle which will take around 3 hours drive. Arrival at retreat venue around 2 p.m. Then, you will have your lunch and rest. At 5 p.m., a yoga practice will start, followed by dinner. Please note that participants coming from other part of the world need to inform organizer about their arrival time and date, so organizer can pick up from Mumbai airport.
After morning yoga practice followed by breakfast and lunch, you will proceed to ashram site for camping which is 1 hour and 15 minute drive. You will set up a camp and enjoy beautiful scenery, nature walk around water reservoir, yoga practice and at night camp fire, music, barbecue dinner, and some entertainment. You will cook your barbecue dinner at ashram site. Ashram site is away from urbanization, pollution, noises, and cement jungle. Beauty of the place will calm you down, you will experience peace of mind and rejuvenation.
Early mornings sunrise yoga practice in the open air yoga studio facing to reservoir in the natural setting of ashram site. After breakfast, you will be heading to explore water reservoir and guided tour around ashram site. Then, there will be a lunch break, followed by two to three hours practice of mauna (no talking) to connect with nature and reflecting ourselves. After that, you will be travel back from ashram site to your retreat center for evening practice and dinner.
After the yoga practice and breakfast, you will proceed for Karla Caves. The Karla Caves or Karle Caves or Karla Cells are a complex of ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines located in Karla near Lonavala, Maharashtra. The shrines were developed over the period - from the 2nd century BC to the 5th century AD. The oldest of the cave shrines is believed to date back to 160 BC. After that, you will go back home for lunch, evening yoga practice, and dinner.
After yoga practice and breakfast, you will proceed to Mahabaleshwar. It is a hill station located in the Western Ghats range. With one of the few evergreen forests of India, it served as the summer capital of Bombay province during the British Raj. It is best place for tourism. Climate of the area is suitable for cultivation of strawberries. Mahabaleshwar strawberry contributes to about 85 percent of the total strawberry production in the country.
After yoga and breakfast, you will visit to close by Jain temple to explore the beauty of temple and tradition of Jainism. After you will be back to retreat venue for lunch, you can rest for some time. After that, you will have your evening practice followed by dinner.
After yoga practice and breakfast, you will proceed to Pune city for shopping and exploring Pune’s some of the unique places which you should definitely see. The drive will be of 1 hour 15 minutes. Pune is the 9th most populous city in India and the second largest in the state of Maharashtra after the state capital Mumbai. Pune is also the 101st largest city in the world, by population.
In the 18th century, Pune became the political center of the Indian subcontinent, as the seat of the Peshwas who were the prime ministers of the Maratha Empire. Pune University consider as a Oxford of India, very popular for education, thousands of students come from all over India for higher education, this city is more popular for castles, historical places, IT centers and education.
You will be back home by 6 p.m. for evening practice and dinner.
After morning practice and breakfast, you will be visiting Bhaja caves. Bhaja caves is a group of 22 rock-cut caves dating back to the 2nd century BC located in Pune. The Bhaja Caves share architectural design with the Karla Caves. The most impressive monument is the large shrine - chaityagriha - with an open, horseshoe-arched entrance. According to the Archaeological Survey of India, the chaityagrha is the most prominent aspect of the caves, and one of the earliest of the type. After that you will travel back home for lunch. In evening, you will have your practice and farewell dinner.
You will get up by 4.30 a.m. and get ready for departure. You will leave retreat center by 5.30 a.m. and head for Mumbai international airport which is 3 hours 30 minutes drive from your location.
During this retreat, you will get a chance to explore Karla caves, Bhaja caves, and Mahabaleshwar. You will visit to close by Jain temple to explore the beauty of temple and tradition of Jainism. You will proceed to Pune city for shopping as well.

Please book your flight to arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Dr. Venky’s Shivshakti Yoga (International) will pick you up from the airport.
