Casa Allegra is located in the picturesque town of Trentham, Victoria, Australia. It is a 20-minute drive from the surrounding towns of Daylesford, Woodend, and Kyneton. The whole region is enveloped in stunning nature and scenery and offers adventurous experiences and an array of country-Victoria attractions.
Nestled at the top of the Great Dividing Range mid-way between Woodend and Daylesford, approximately one hour from Melbourne, Trentham is a very special township and the perfect base to explore the many attractions of the areas. Surrounded by temperate rainforest and with fine restaurants and cafes, Trentham encapsulates cool country.
It is a small town, that certainly packs a punch offering experiences that excite, soothe, relax, and rejuvenate. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend in the country indulging in the many gourmet delights and wines offered by the region, or more active outdoor pursuits like riding or bushwalking in the Wombat State Forest, Trentham has it all.
Like most of the towns and villages throughout Central Victoria, Trentham owes its foundation and ongoing beauty to the discovery of gold. The township and area have moved beyond this to take advantage of its natural attractions and become a gateway to the Wombat Forest.
Trentham is a lovely country village filled with character, interesting stores, cute cottages, gorgeous gardens, and superb accommodation. It is a slower-paced gem where you are still able to get a park in the main street on the weekend. Something the locals are very happy about.
Original rails and sleepers form the walking trail for the first 500 meters, so you need to make sure where you put your feet. After crossing Falls Road, the trail enters bushland made up of eucalypt species, including manna gum, peppermint, and mountain gums. The trail uses the Powerful Owl as its symbol on all the track markers.
The Powerful Owl lives in tree hollows and is listed as an endangered species. The bushland which the trail leads have been protected to preserve the habitat of this largest of Australian owl species. The bushland is also home to swamp wallabies, grey kangaroos, and short-beak echidnas.
The cuisine will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian. You will be served light two-course gourmet supper on Friday evening, full breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, healthy light lunch on Saturday, and three-course gourmet dinner along with afternoon tea on Friday and Saturday. Herbal tea will be available on Saturday. And yes, there will be chocolate!
You may choose to walk to Radio Springs hotel in Lyonville along the Domino Trail (seven kilometers) and lunch upon arrival. Or if you are feeling less energetic, stay in town and lunch at The Cosmopolitan Hotel or the wonderful award winning Redbeard Bakery. Lunch at The Trentham Collective will satisfy coffee, chai, and cake lovers amongst other daily specials and offers a beautiful space.
