    During this retreat, you will be staying at the beach front Riverside Resort in a cozy bamboo beach bungalow, a cabana with private bath and toilet. The staff are friendly and it is safe, comfortable, and pleasant there.

    Each bungalow has one double bed with a comfortable mattress and mosquito netting set in an airy room, with a place to hang your clothes and store your belongings. Constructed to make use of the natural ventilation from the cool sea breeze, they also have ceiling fans for more tropical times of the year.

    This program is well-paced and suitable for all levels of experience and fitness. You will practice Qigong each morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This includes joint opening exercises, movement forms, standing and sitting postures, other somatic exercises such as Hara yoga, and meditation. You are then free to enjoy breakfast, the beach, and all that Goa has to offer.

    At 5:30 p.m. you and other yogi will meet again for sunset meditation, Qigong, and Hara work. The evenings are your own to explore the many restaurants and other nightlife available. You start the week off with Hara health exercises on the first afternoon, and in the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner together. The Hara health exercises are an easy yet effective set of exercises that bring you into your body.

    They have a powerful effect on resetting the nervous system releasing the body of pent up stress leaving you feeling rested and renewed. Over the next two weeks, you will explore the body and mind through various somatic movements and meditations from a gentle sequence of yoga type exercises to opening to the oceanic vibrations with Qigong on the beach, sunset meditations, and heart healing.

    In the last few days of the retreat, there is only a morning program giving time for shopping and to tie up loose ends. For your last evening together, you will dine out at one of Goa’s famous restaurants as you say your goodbyes and return to our different corners of the world, taking with you the memories and friendship that are the joy of India.

    Hara health exercises

    The Hara exercises are both a meditation and an exercise routine. The slow gentle circling movements of the Hara exercises are the perfect solution for those that find it difficult to sit still and meditate. Hara health exercises are a journey inwards, a return through sensation into union with your body and the present moment. Many people ask what type of meditation is taught by Charles Lambrou.

    There are so many types available but the best way to describe what it is “embodied spaciousness.” You will use movement, breath, and the felt-sense to develop spiritual awareness. The Hara exercises have their roots in Vipassana meditation, which is an ancient meditation technique from India and was taught by Gautama Buddha. He said, “If you watch the sensations in the body rise and fall in a state of equanimity, you will purify your body and mind.”

    The exercises are in three phases designed to bring about a deeper state of restfulness and the sequence promotes healing and resilience in the nervous system. Be still and know. The Hara health exercises offer the perfect format to leave behind all your worries and duties and to give yourself the gift of silence and meditation. This may be a truly life transforming experience, opening the pathways to greater peace and harmony.

    • Charles Lambrou

      Charles is a healer, meditation teacher, and author of the transformational book, The Alchemist’s Way. He lives in India and teaches internationally. Charles’ fusion of meditation, Tantra, Qigong, breath work, and movement for a healthy mind, body, and spirit started in the 1990s. He has studied with masters in India and Japan. His work is based on five tenets movement, stillness, awareness, love, and compassion. His classes offer much more than a series of stretches and ohms. The focus is on awareness and nervous system resilience, plus self-healing mechanisms of the body and mind.

    This retreat will take place in North Goa, India. Ashwem and Arambol are only minutes away and one can enjoy all that these areas have to offer. Goa is juicy and you will find it all there. There are lots of time to relax, enjoy swimming, and have long walks on the sea shore. There are places to party and great restaurants with delicious food, all at a fraction of the prices in the West.

    Arambol is buzzy and alive. There are many music gigs and dance shows to enjoy over a meal. World-class masseurs, tarot readers, astrologers, and psychics are all available to consult. If you enjoy dancing, there are ecstatic and bliss dances where you can dance your heart out in wholesome environments. Many people have also fallen in love with Goa and have returned year after year, perhaps you will too. It truly is a paradise.

    Speaking of love, well it is a fantastic place to fall in love. You can take romantic sunset walks along the beach, have dinner with your feet in the sand, and the listen to the light tunes of waves breaking on the shore.

    Please book your flight to arrive at Goa International Airport (GOI). Transfer from and to the airport is included. The organizer will pick you up from the airport. You must book and pay for your flight! Please arrive in Goa airport before 11:00 a.m. the day the retreat starts.
