All rooms at Hotel Rio Chirripo Lodge & Retreat have one double bed and one twin bed. The rate for single occupancy is available, please send an inquiry for more information.


Classes and workshops are beginner friendly, no prior yoga or dance experience is necessary, however, adapted layers and modifications will be made to add welcome challenges for those wishing to deepen their practice.


Day 1 (April 8, 2018)

  • 09:00-12:00 Reception and tour of retreat center

The friendly staff will be waiting to greet you at the gate, show you to your home for the next week, and serve you a healthy, delicious lunch upon arrival.

  • 16:00-17:00 Slow Flow Yin yoga

A tranquil slow-paced practice consisting of a combination of a light Flow and Yin postures. Yin postures are held for longer lengths of time and can consist of props to fully support the body in its restoration process. This class is designed to aid the body in complete deep relaxation. It helps to release tension and gain flexibility and mobility in your joints.

Day 2 (April 9, 2018)

  • 07:00-08:00 Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. This ancient technique is excellent for improving and maintaining health, increasing vitality, and spiritual cultivation. It also provides an excellent way of starting the day.

  • 10:00-11:00 Belly dance

The first dance class of the retreat kicks off by learning basic shapes you draw with the body in belly dance. If you have never belly danced before, this is the perfect class for you to get started. If you are joining CampBellyDance with belly dance experience, layers will be added to the shapes to help you deepen your practice.

  • 15:00-16:00 Chocolate making workshop

Let's make chocolate, food of the Gods! You will learn how to make chocolate using local, organic, Costa Rican cacao. By the end of this workshop, you will understand how to combine ingredients to produce a quality chocolate product and hopefully, take this skill home, preparing and sharing home made chocolate with your friends and family.

  • 19:00-20:00 Fire ceremony

Fire ceremonies have had a long standing tradition of bringing communities together. The act of gathering wood and starting a fire reestablishes a connection to nature and our humanity.

Day 3 (April 10, 2018)

  • 07:30-08:30 Tai Chi
  • 10:00-11:00 Belly dance

To infinity and beyond! In this class, you explore all the different ways to draw the infinity symbol with different body parts. Figure 8s, otherwise known as the infinity symbol, is an intrinsic movement in belly dance. Practicing this sacred, serpentine movement allows you to tap into your infinite self.

  • 16:00-17:00 Slow Flow Yin yoga

Day 4 (April 11, 2018)

  • 08:00-12:00 Cloud Bridge Nature Reserve

Join CampBellyDance for a guided hike through Cloud Bridge Nature Reserve. Situated in a beautiful and remote cloud forest on one of the highest mountains in Central America, Cloud Bridge is a private nature reserve and adjoins the primary forest of Chirripo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cloud Bridge hosts breath taking views of waterfalls, butterflies, birds, trees, and much more.

  • 18:00-19:00 Yoga Nidra with sound healing

Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between sleep and wake. It is the deepest known state of relaxation while still remaining fully conscious. Being guided into this state provides the space for deep healing to occur.

Sound healing is simply healing through sound. The sound created vibrates you on a cellular level, thus being an agent for detoxification and purification of the body. These two modalities combined are complimentary and a great way to end a day of hiking before transitioning to sleep.

Day 5 (April 12, 2018)

  • 09:00-11:00 Kundalini yoga

This particular yoga practice uses kriyas, or specific yoga sets, to dive the practitioner deeper into the power of the human body and the true nature of

the self. Kundalini is the yoga of awareness. It helps to release stored energy at the base of your spine and up through the chakras.

  • 13:30-16:30 Spa day at the river

Get ready to turn yourself into an avatar! This spa party takes place in the breathtakingly pristine, natural surroundings of the Hotel Rio Chirripo Lodge & Retreat. You will start the festivities by painting each other blue with rain forest clay that has been sustainably and locally harvested here in Costa Rica. You then paint designs over the blue clay providing for some "art therapy" and a great photo opp.

You will wash the clay off by bathing in the river. You then scrub each other using a coffee chocolate coconut scrub that was made in house before your arrival. After the scrub application, you apply body butter (also made from the finest ingredients in house). CampBellyDance promises a truly unforgettable spa day experience that will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and revived!

  • 19:00-20:00 Slow flow bedtime belly dance

Slow flow bedtime belly dance is a practice that explores slow graceful belly dance movements set to relaxing low tempo music. This practice is done by candle light and is the perfect way to dance your way into dreamland.

Day 6 (April 13, 2018)

  • 07:30-08:30 Tai Chi
  • 10:00-11:00 Belly dance

Day 7 (April 14, 2018)

  • 07:00-08:30 Vinyasa Flow

This Flow class style offers a fluid series of powerful movements to detoxify the body, cleanse the mind, and exhilarate the soul. Practice a moving meditation to the sounds of upbeat music and the natural flow of your breath.

  • 15:00-16:00 Belly dance
  • 19:00-23:00 Ecstatic dance party

You will end on the highest note possible! You'll celebrate the end of the retreat with a close out ecstatic dance party in the jungle lit by laser lights where everyone is free to be as expressive or as chill as they like. Warning: the music selection is extremely eclectic!

Day 8 (April 15, 2018)

  • 08:00-10:00 Breakfast and departure

Annalisa Raghunandan
Annalisa's classes are designed for the absolute beginner, yogis, dancer's aspiring to cross train in another art form, or anyone simply seeking dance as a form of fitness, fun, and overall personal development. Her passion and abilities are accredited to her teachers and a dedicated, ritualistic personal practice that includes cross training with African dance and urban street styles. She has a deep connection with nature along with a sound understanding of where real food comes from and how to produce it using sustainable methods.

Alexandra's motto is, ‘Heal yourself, heal the planet’. To her, yoga brought an inner discovery of the self, her true self, and was a stepping-stone that sparked the path of becoming a teacher and spreading the message of natural healing and wellness to the planet. Believing that all have the ability to heal one's self, she guides her students to be present within their own practice, to find the light within, and to reestablish that connection with ones true divinity.
