Ashtanga Yoga Crete's practice methods are based on the steps of Ashtanga yoga. Each method is adjusted to the practitioner in order for you to benefit as best as possible and not the other way round. Emphasis is given to the method and quality of breathing as this is the base of all asanas, enhancing the energy flow within our body and mind.
What you learn and experience in such yoga classes, you will take it back; it accompanies you through your everyday life benefiting you accordingly. The different steps of Ashtanga yoga, which include the ethical rules in relation to society and to you, the asanas that strengthen your body, breathing exercises or pranayamas, the concentration of the mind and meditation, apply from the moment of the first step of the yoga practice.
For those who already have a little experience or are even advanced yoga practitioners, you will have the opportunity to experience your practice in a friendly environment to receive and to share with others while those who do not have any experience, you will be fortunate enough to make a beginning in a very unique environment under very special conditions.
The yoga practice is based on the method of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. Self-practice or Mysore is already famous to those who practice the method of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. For those who need tutoring, it will be available. However, during this week, you will approach it in a very slow way, giving emphasis to details, flow, and repetitions of asanas in order to deepen your practice.
The pranayama class will prepare you to build a daily practice while for those that already practice they can deepen more in it. The evening class will work more in details with basic aspects of the practice using asana as a way to experience the benefits of a method that works in your body and soul, including helpful tools like your gaze, the sound, and flow of breath, ease or comfort and variations of each aspect of the practice.
Evening classes will give you another point of view and thus, support your already established morning practice. During the useful time of this seminar, you will approach many aspects and levels of your yoga practice, keeping in mind that a practitioner does not need to adapt to a method but the method can adapt to the practitioner in order to serve, and support each individual and phase of his or her own life.
This yoga practice for wellness of the body and soul retreat is addressed to everyone that is willing to deepen and experience the inner and therapeutically side of this practice. On Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., you will join a breathing and philosophy class. On Wednesday, at 5:00 p.m., you will dive deep into a therapeutical yoga practice approach.
Nektarios has been teaching the Ashtanga yoga method as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois since 2009, while in 2012 Manju Jois authorized Nektarios to further do so. He now teaches primary and intermediate series. His extensive time in India also led him to become an accomplished sitar and veena player, as well as a certified Vedic astrologer. During the last years, he has also practiced Vipassana meditation and spends much of his time in the mountains, becoming a skillful mountaineer.
