Programa

Yoga Nidra, basic breathing methods, and Restorative Yoga are key practices to equip aspirants and practitioners with yogic skills and techniques for self-support as well as clients and or students. The methods taught in the training will assist in the release of deep muscular, mental and emotional tension, inducing calmness, and clarity for a range of life, and health situations.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a state of being in which the mind lets go of the external world and turns inwards giving the senses a deep rest from the activities of the contemporary society. The mind is gradually trained to connect into tranquility effortlessly. Yoga Nidra systematically releases tension experienced in the muscles, the breath, and the nervous system. Ultimately, the practice works directly on the mind to release impressions from the past and anxieties about the future.

Basic breathing methods and Restorative yoga

The benefits of basic breathing methods and Restorative yoga include the dismantling of chronic tension patterns, enhanced immune function, effective cellular respiration, reduced hypertension in the cardiovascular system, reduced mental and emotional tension, a body-mind returned to a natural state of ease and equilibrium.

Applications in professional life

These tools are being by psychiatrists, psychotherapists, medical and health professionals, and yoga teachers in a variety of settings including schools, offices, community centers, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, prisons, and nursing homes. They may be effective in the management of:

Cancellation policy for this retreat will be as below:

  • Cancellation within 30 days of arrival - a 25% fee of the total stay will be charged
  • Cancellation less than 30 days of arrival and more than 7 days of arrival a 50% fee of the total stay will be charged.
  • Cancellation within 7 days of arrival - no refund given

Swami Karma Karuna
Swami Karma Karuna specializes in women’s health. By blending yogic lifestyle and sannyasa tradition with motherhood, she brings a unique and practical approach, inspiring the integration of yogic principles into everyday activities. A founding member and director of Anahata Yoga Retreat, she is an engaging, intuitive yoga teacher with more than 25 years of training and experience. She also specializes in therapeutic applications of yoga, yoga Nidra relaxation, and prank practices and shares in a simple and practical way, inspiring people to access and apply yogic practices in their own lives.
Sannyasin Atmavidya
Sannyasin Atmavidya has been teaching yoga and meditation for the last 18 years (including yoga centers, ashrams, retreats, schools, tertiary institutions, and businesses). Since 2014, she has been running The Vishuddhi Yoga Center in Christchurch. Sannyasin Atmavidya gently supports the discovery of the different ways that practices can be experienced to liberate and expand well-being of body, mind, and spirit. Her aspiration is to assist the birthing of deeper aspects of self to conscious awareness, to appreciate each moment and live deeply from inner truth.
Swami Yogamani Saraswati
Swami Yogamani is one of the yoga teachers at Anahata Yoga Retreat.

Destino del retiro

The town Takaka is beautifully located at the southeastern end of Golden Bay in the Nelson region. With a community that includes many alternative lifestyles, it’s a town full of life. There are a small museum, a movie theater, and a great choice of shops, and cafés for you to enjoy. Takaka also offers plenty of value-for-money accommodation, including backpacker lodges, bed and breakfasts, and homestays.

Alimentos

All meals provided are vegetarian - simple, yet nutritious and satisfying. Much of the organic food is sourced from local growers or picked fresh from the garden, which is developed along permaculture design principles.

Some special dietary requirements for food allergies can be catered to with prior advance notice. Anahata Yoga Retreat can cater to vegan and gluten-free requirements, but for other required specialty foods or snacks, you may wish to bring your own supply.

If you have special dietary requirements, please advise the Anahata Yoga Retreat at the time of booking. There will be an additional cost of 25 NZD for this retreat.

¿Cómo llegar?

Driving directions from Nelson

From Nelson, which is the main city in the north part of the South Island, travel west through the town of Motueka.

Note that there are no petrol stations available between Motueka and Takaka, so best to fill up in Motueka. Stick to the speed limits to avoid traps!

After crossing the Takaka Hill from Nelson, you will drive towards and into Takaka.

Turn right immediately past the Visitors Centre (Don't go through Takaka!).

Follow the road and at the dairy factory follow the road which veers right.

Drive towards Pohara Beach for about 10 minutes. The road curves on a big right and then a big left.

You will pass Motupipi School (on left), then take the next turn right at the Clifton ‘+’ crossroads. Turn right at the next ‘T’ Junction at Carlyle Street.

Follow this road to the next T-junction and turn left continuing on Clifton Road.

As you turn, you will see an "Anahata Yoga Retreat" sign. Follow the sign until you will come to a gravel road and a sign saying Bird Road.

Follow the gravel road (Bird Road) up to the top of the mountain (seven kilometers). Look out for the small "Anahata Yoga Retreat" signs on your way.

There are some shallow fords and various gates. Please leave the gates as you find them (closed if closed). When you are half way up you will come to two gates side-by-side. Go through the left gate (not the one going down the hill to the farm).

When you arrive at the top after approximately 30 minutes driving, you will see a little sign on the other side of the top gate to the right that says Abel Tasman - Wainui Hut.

Go through this gate and follow the same gravel/dirt road heading a little left. On your left (a hundred meters or so), you will see a row of big Pine Trees, a house, and some gardens. There is an “Welcome to Anahata Yoga Retreat” sign on the fence by the gate. You have arrived.

Welcome to Anahata Yoga Retreat! Park outside and walk through the Anahata gate to the office (in front of and attached to the building you see).

Golden Bay Coachlines offers daily services from Nelson to Takaka departs Nelson daily at 3:30 p.m., arriving in Takaka at 5:45 p.m.
