During this retreat, you will stay either in a private or shared room at the AHKI Retreat. The resort and its settings are soothing and meticulously designed.

Program

This yoga retreat is a genuine opportunity to explore wisdom tradition and reflective practices. Each day, you will find space, breath, and a quiet time to get back in touch with those vital and creative essences that make life-fulfilling and once again reveal your interconnection with all of life.

Mornings will begin with silent meditation, simple walking, and writing practice. Morning yoga will be energetic and evening yoga will be very restful Yin. There will be time to study and explore the Four Immeasurables as taught by the Buddha to support all of life. You will also have long afternoons to explore leisure by the pool, at the beach, or out on an adventure. Every meal will be specially prepared for you with an additional evening beach dinner on the beautiful Playa Pelada at Casa del Sol.

This wonderful retreat is designed for parents, professionals, for all generations and everyday people, and for all of those in need of a pause. This retreat will give you just the right amount of silent practice, physical movement, personal time, community connection, laughter, and exploration.

Sample daily schedule

  • 06:00 Optional rise for coffee, tea, or fruit, or walking (Noble silence is required from sunrise until breakfast bell rings)
  • 07:00 Meditation practice (walk, write, sit)
  • 08:15 Breakfast
  • 09:30 Energetic yoga, pranayama, exploring wisdom, traditions, and everyday life
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 13:00 Free time (pool, excursions, beach, hiking, solitude, etc.)

Hosts

Melissa Appleton and Bill Eager are two respected and experienced teachers who fly under the radar, however, ​their work, creative community projects, and practices are profound. With perfectly complimentary approaches combining nearly 25 years of experience, their yoga practices are imbued with qualities of mindfulness and reflective inquiry providing rich experiences. Together they deliver usable tools for living inspired by traditions that are current, relevant and extremely helpful for the fast pace of modern life.

Included excursions

This retreat includes daily transportation to the beach and excursions along with an evening beach dinner at La Luna Restaurant on the beautiful Playa Pelada on Thursday, February 1, 2018.

Instructors

Melissa Berry Appleton
Melissa has been a student of yoga for 18 years and has received extensive teacher training from senior Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Anusara teachers and meditation teacher training from Michael Stone. Her practice is informed by Buddhism, personal recovery, intelligent alignment, creative movement, breath, love, relationship to the ground, and the process of gravity. Melissa is a student of Zen Buddhism, enjoys the company of a socially​ engaging modern Buddhist and yoga community.
Bill Eager
Bill Eager has been leading yoga and meditation classes in Kelowna for over 11 years and is as much a student as he is a teacher with a voracious curiosity for study, learning, and living yoga. For Bill, yoga is an inquiry into true nature. It is an experience of energy and opposites while stretching and strengthening the body, heart, and mind. Most significantly, yoga is a profound way of celebrating and loving life, from levity to gravity.

Retreat location

During this retreat, you will stay at the AHKI Retreat located in the lush mountainside near Nosara, Costa Rica. The resort is also close to the legendary surf beach at Play Guiones and mere minutes to local beaches. Nosara and the surrounding Nicoya Peninsula region holds a vibrant energy unlike any other and is the perfect place to heal and nourish the body, heart, and mind. Nothing gets left behind. The resort and settings are soothing and meticulously designed.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR). Transfer from and to the airport is included. ENSO Society will pick you up from the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 90 days before arrival.
