The choice of accommodation at El Zopilote are plenty: you can camp in your own tent, sleep in one of the hostel hammocks, shared a dorm with fellow travelers, or choose a private room. The farm and hostel are 100% solar and wind-powered, and you have the chance to be a guest of this beautiful island creating the least impact possible on the environment.

The huts at El Zopilote Organic Farm are bio-constructions made with local wood and bamboo, natural buildings using techniques like cob and palm tree or living roofs. All toilets are dry composting toilets which save a lot of precious water. In rural zones such as Ometepe Island, ecological dry toilets are the best answer for reasons of hygiene, environment, and production of organic fertilizer so that our precious water may be used for other purposes.

The used water itself is purified through a constructed wetlands system, where the water from showers and kitchens pass through a system of canals filled with sand, plants, and rocks of various dimensions, then on a series of tanks also filled with sand, rocks, and plants which absorb and purify any remnants of soap, oil or fats. This purified water can then be used for irrigation and can re-enter the circle of life.

Staying at El Zopilote during your 4 days intensive gives you the chance to be immersed in a lush green environment where you can relax surrounded by birds and monkeys, allowing for a real connection with the reality of being part of the biodiversity of nature.

Program

Day 1

  • Interview
  • Private yoga class

On the first day you will have an interview with your teacher, Cassandra, to talk about your body and mindset at this moment and what you are looking for in this Intensive. In this way, El Zopilote Organic Farm can understand what the program should focus on for YOU. You will also have your first yoga class to start opening your body.

Day 2

  • Private yoga class
  • Swedish relaxing massage

The second day begins with a yoga class based on the conversation upon your arrival, with a focus on meeting your basic needs - whether it's starting a yoga practice, developing flexibility, releasing localized tension, improving strength, or anything else that came up in the interview the day before. The day's program continues with a relaxing full-body massage with natural oils aimed at releasing tension and toxins, energizing the body, nourishing the skin, and bringing deep relaxation to your mind.

Day 3

  • Introducing YOUR personalized yoga routine
  • Private yoga class with your routine
  • Yoga Nidra and introduction to meditation

On the third day, the focus is to begin to get familiar with a yoga routine that has been fully designed for your own needs. You will receive an illustrated asana (yoga posture) sequence that will be practiced with the teacher during two private lessons so that you can ask questions and prepare to continue practicing alone at home.

In the second meet of the day, you will be guided into Yoga Nidra, a deep relaxation state that works on the subconscious and unconscious mind. The session prepares you for an introduction to meditation practice.

Day 4

  • Deepening your practice
  • Private yoga class

On the last day, El Zopilote Organic Farm will deepened your familiarity with the personal sequence, improving your asanas and breathing techniques and establishing a flow throughout the routine so that you can practice alone at home, traveling or wherever you are!

The schedule

As it is a private program, the sessions will be scheduled according to your preference, between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. All sessions are held in private spaces within El Zopilote.
