Day 2: Challenge the breath at TelefériQo cable ferry ride, Quito city day tour

Kick off the week with a rejuvenating practice onsite at Mountain Views Inn. You will work up an appetite for a delicious breakfast before taking off for your first excursion. You will travel through the mountains, to the Papallacta valley, to bathe in the natural thermal spring pools of different sizes and temperatures. This soothing volcanic natural thermal spring water contains sulfites and heat that produce a very therapeutic feeling of rejuvenation and wellness.

You will return to Mountain Views Inn with bodies prepared for recovery and rejuvenation, and have time together to prepare our minds. Together, each of you will learn about the Four Paths of Yoga that have inspired this retreat and ready yourselves to get the maximum benefit from each day ahead.

Day 3: Path 1, Karma - take action with a zipline, hike, and practice in the Mindo cloud rain forest

By morning, departure is a little earlier, to commute on a gorgeous 2.5 hour ride to the Mindo rain forest. It is set on 47,444 acres of the nationally protected reserve, Bosque Protector Mindo-Nambillo. Mindo, one of the world's headquarters for rain forest preservation, is abundant with over 350 species of birds. It is an ideal place to snap photos, swim in lagoons and hike.

Enjoy a quick fruit snack before experiencing an amazing thrill ride, on 10 zip lines, 2000 meters in length that zip along at 100 meters above ground.

You will then travel to the Tarabita Skyway Basket over the Mindo river valley. You will travel in a suspended metal cage powered by an old engine car that will provide spectacular views. If time allows, you will enjoy a great hike through the rain forest, or visit one or more cascading waterfalls and possibly jump in for a swim in the Nambillo Lagoon.

Day 4: Path 2, Bhakti - Share the love through community outreach

Energize with another morning practice. After breakfast, you'll get a chance to walk, bike, or hike through the beautiful Chiche canyon, a mini version of the Grand Canyon. It stretches as far as the eye can see. It has a beautiful flowing river at the base of the canyon and marked trails easy to follow. The canyon can be hiked or biked, and there is a beautiful secluded spot by the river, perfect for practice, journaling or meditation. Enjoy some down time by sunbathing and rejuvenating by the pool and hot tub, or challenge a friend in the game room. You will also be treated to some favorite Ecuadorian cuisine while onsite.

By afternoon, visit a local school for a cultural exchange that for many is the true highlight of the tour. You will arrive with donations of clothing and supplies to help the underprivileged. They'll treat you to a presentation of traditional Ecuadorian dance. Your gifts make lasting impacts and their happiness and smiles will stay with you long after you return home.

Day 5: Path 3, Raja - Explore the spirit at the Temple Del Sol and Intiñan solar museum

You will commute to a typical farmers market located 5 minutes away in Tumbaco where fresh fruits and vegetables are sold. Here you'll see a wonderful array of colorful, edible and exotic items. You will then travel for 1 hour to stand with a foot on each hemisphere on the Equator and tour the always fun, interactive Equatorial Intiñan Solar Museum. You will learn of the indigenous culture and understand the effects of the gravitational forces with water and balancing an egg on a nail!

Nearby is the Temple Del Sol which provides a very spiritual aura and connection with the earth and sun. There will be a special celebration for the Equinox with local Shaman’s recognizing the special day. Here you will be able to learn more about the culture of indigenous Ecuadorians, the healing properties of essential oils, and view the beautiful art gallery of world renowned artist Cristobal Ortega.

Finally, a visit the lookout point located at the edge of the Pululahua Crater to see the center of the volcanic crater and the beautiful landscape.

Day 6: Path 4, Jnana - Expand your mind at Guayasamín Museum, Quito city tour

Guayasamín dedicated his life to painting, sculpting, collecting; however, he was an ardent supporter of the communist Cuban Revolution in general and Fidel Castro in particular. He was given a prize for "an entire life of work for peace" by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. He is still lauded as a national treasure. A visit to the museum, viewing the emotionally stirring artwork and hearing the artists history from the knowledgeable guides, is incredibly moving.

After the museum you will continue to tour Quito, which brings the past to life in its museums, convents, carved stone facades, and golden altars of its many churches.

Day 7: Find your path for power - Teleferico cable ferry ride and practice at 14,000 feet, Quito artisan market

You will go back down the cable ferry and then continue to tour Quito, which brings the past to life in its museums, convents, carved stone facades, and golden altars of its many churches.

Day 8: Restore and relax - Papallacta hot thermal springs and departure

After breakfast, you will travel 1.5 hours to the entrance of the Amazon Jungle. Bathe in the natural thermal spring pools of different sizes and temperatures in Papallacta. This soothing volcanic natural thermal spring water contains sulfites and heat that produce a very therapeutic feeling of rejuvenation and wellness. We return by 17:00 to give plenty of time to pack and eat a fabulous farewell dinner.

"My week stay in Ecuador at The Mountain Views Inn was one of the best weeks of my life. Our host Robert ensured that everyday was filled with adventure; each day more exciting than the day before. We went hiking in the mountain tops above Quito, horseback riding, mountain biking in Chiche Canyon, ziplining in Mindo, whitewater rafting, visits to indigenous towns, waterfalls and volcanic lakes, and soaked in the Papallacta hot springs. And of course, who could forget the amazing meals prepared for us each day at the Inn, allowing us to sample the fresh fruit, vegetables and cuisine of Ecuador."

"I still smile ear to ear when I remember being in Ecuador and will always long to go back. "

"Anything to do with the outdoors I love. Ecuador provided me with amazing times. I hiked in the rainforest, swam in a lagoon with cascading waterfalls, zip-lined, along with other adventurous activities....and that was just one day! The most disappointing event of the trip was leaving and saying goodbye to Ecuador and all that it was able to offer me. "

"Robert is a truly amazing host, so informative, friendly and helpful. The accommodations were lovely - spacious, tranquil, and blissful. It was just the kind of get-away that I was seeking. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and I hope to return to this hidden gem. "

" The trip to Ecuador was fabulous. The Mountain Views Inn was a luxurious place to stay with lushly landscaped grounds and a high service level, including a private chef who cooked delicious meals including sumptuous breakfasts with a different fresh native fruit juice at each meal, and bountiful dinners with different hearty Ecuadorian soups, meats and vegetables (and more fruit juices) at each meal."

"The scenery was spectacular, and whether it was zip-lining across the Amazon Rain forest, hiking, mountain biking down canyon roads, treking to the waterfall, horseback riding, or visiting the equator, I was continuously visually impressed."

"Robert was a fantastic host - funny, caring, super-knowledgeable, outgoing and a great guide (and pro tennis player as well.) He knows everybody and people want to know him. "

"I can now say I played tennis in Ecuador. Not only did I do great outdoor activities, but I played on beautiful red clay tennis courts several days during the week."

"Tennis, adventure and great food, for me that is the ultimate vacation. "
