    The Villa / 6 nights

    This magnificent yoga retreat will take place in the picturesque Italian countryside, along the border of Tuscany and Umbria. A beautifully restored villa awaits your arrival, complete with sprawling vistas over the rolling hills in all directions. Former cantinas and stables on the groundfloor have been transformed into apartments that are works of art. One can immediately see the careful attention that went into restoring, decorating, and preparing these rooms. Two large apartments are divided into different rooms of various size accommodations, each complete with private bathroom and linens.

    A large and open art studio awaits those interested in exploring various art mediums while visiting, and also can serve as location for some "art as meditation" courses or a journaling room. The grounds are spacious with plenty of outdoor space to sit alone, relax on the outside terrace overlooking the meadows, or enjoying an open-air lunch. Also, the villa is located on a large estate ground with plenty of hiking available and even a pool to cool you down in the warmer summer months.

    Host and villa owner Julian (from EASEL&LENS Art Courses) and his team, will spoil guests with their hospitality, mouth-watering cuisine, and fun-packed side trips. Julian's extensive knowledge of Italian cities and art history will allow for a special and unique look into the surrounding areas. Also, this art instructor will share his love of the medium in his session of "art as meditation". Don't be surprised when you leave feeling as if you have made friends for life. You'll almost feel part of the family when you stay at their lovely property.

    Spend a week in idyllic settings in Tuscany, while you practice yoga, meet new friends, explore, hike, relax, sweat, experience and of course eat amazing cuisine, pray in mindful contemplation, and move through powerful poses. Get your taste buds ready for the flavors of Italy on this new food itinerary tour in Tuscany and Umbria during the height of the Italian food season.

    Enjoy daily yoga and meditation along with plenty of excursions for the senses. Day trips to the beautiful region include, food tours (truffle hunt, olive oil picking/press/tasting, cheese factory, etc), wine tour, cooking class, and a spa experience with grape leaves wrap and olive oil massage - all while exploring amazing villages!

    Daily meditation and yoga classes will be offered in a way to relax, stimulate, and help guests grow in their own personal practice. Classes are open to all levels,

    beginner to practiced, and can range from gentle, meditative, and more energetic Vinyasa styles.

    Style and class levels will be determined and molded to fit participating students' needs, and with a small intimate retreat class size, students will be able to receive personalized attention and comfortability to deeply explore their practice. Certified yoga instructor, Erin Lewis, will facilitate the classes, helping each student focus on improving their practice and gaining new insights into their bodies and movements. Participation in classes and activities is optional throughout the retreat.

    Guests will not only enjoy the villa and encompassing estate, but also the richness of the Italian cities in nearby regions. Day trips will allow students to add arts, culture, adventure, and natural beauty to their retreat experience. Trips may include visits to small villages, large cities, and outdoor activities, even a thermal spa deep in the heart of the region where guests can swim, enjoy spa treatments, or simply enjoy the town. See smaller villages that few tourists go, and get a true education and taste of Italy with plenty of tastings along the way!

    There will be also daily trip during the retreat to several interesting places such as:

    • Florence (enjoy a full day in the Renaissance City with works of art, famous lookouts, special Florentine meal, and more)
    • Rapolano Terme (healthful visit to a Tuscan thermal spa)
    • Countryside tour (various village visits, historic museums and churches)
    • Tuscan Tasting Tour (explore the special nuances to different cheeses and oils in the Italian diet)
    • Cortona (explore this hillside town and take a countryside walk to the famous Bramasole villa from 'Under the Tuscan Sun')
    • Experience various other tastes of the region including cheeses, aperitifs, pastries and gelato!

      After leading a successful 13-year career in the corporate world, Michelle transitioned her career into a life and financial consultant, retreat organizer and leader, and internationally certified yoga instructor following her passions and sharing this with others around the globe. She now leads the Move and Manifest retreats which, besides yoga, add workshops for life development, manifesting your dreams, and vision board creation.

    You will get a chance to enjoy your retreat in the countryside on border of Tuscany and Umbria. Nearest town is Chiusi, Tuscany. Tuscany is a region in central Italy with an area of about 23,000 square kilometers and a population of about 3.8 million inhabitants. The regional capital is Florence (Firenze).

    Tuscany is known for its landscapes, traditions, history, artistic legacy and its permanent influence on high culture. It is regarded as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and has been home to many figures influential in the history of art and science. As a result, the region boasts museums (such as the Uffizi, the Pitti Palace). Tuscany is famous for its wines, including the well-known Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino and more.

    Seven Tuscan localities have been designated World Heritage Sites. Many towns and cities in Tuscany have great natural and architectural beauty. There are many visitors throughout the year. As a result, the services and distribution activities, so important to the region's economy, are wide-ranging and well-organized.

    Healthful, vegetarian food is part of the retreat experience, including breakfasts and dinners daily (with 2 special restaurant dinners out), as well as some selected lunches. The cuisine is simple, delicious and Italian, using fresh ingredients from the local market in Chiusi, much of which is organically grown. Amanda will prepare dishes like pumpkin risotto, pasta al forno, slow roasted fennel with red onions, salads with wild rocket, pecorino and fresh figs, and more. Selection is seasonal, and you can guarantee to love and appreciate each bite. Not only is the food provided, but also the wine. Guests will enjoy good local wine, from the famous vineyards of Montepulciano, produced less than an hour from the villa.

      "I can’t begin to express my thanks for the week in Venice. I am still in disbelief that it ever happened! I still can’t decide what part of it was my favorite - the mask making was so unique and informative, the walking tours laid out the city—but I think if all I had done was the boat ride to Murano and dinner at Ai Barbicani, I could have gone home happy. Honestly, even just the hotel was great - I’m already recommending it to friends. The yoga space was gorgeous - and the staff were incredible. I also really loved the art classes. I usually have to beg to stop to take photos, so to be in a space where someone encouraged it was so refreshing! Our group stayed together most of the time (even in our off time), and all of the buzz was fantastic and so positive. Cornelia talked in our off time about how the retreat was so much more than what she expected, and Laura was really taken by the art projects, and Alicia just loved the tiramisu! We all talked about how the yoga and art were shaping our view of the city, how much we loved all the details and how we were SO GLAD we didn’t have to organize it ourselves!       "I have always had a love of travel and a spirit of adventure, but as an almost 69-year old single woman, I believed my opportunities were limited and tame. Then EAT.PRAY.MOVE came into my life and boy am I hooked! I signed up for the September trip to Marrakech and it was one of the finest travel experiences of my life. The accommodations were beautiful, the service. Wonderful, the feeling of family and good friends surrounded us. Instead of being in a hotel, with the usual hotel culture, I was able to experience a true Moroccan lifestyle, including delicious food served on a delightful porch near the beautiful pool during the day and in a picturesque tent in the evening. The activities were fabulous: walking around in the walled old city with shopping galore, going on a day trip to a beach town, including riding a camel, (I fantasized being Lawrence of Arabia) and dining in exceptional Marrakech restaurants. We received henna treatments and spent an afternoon at a spa. Of course, there was yoga and meditation every day, too. It was a wonderful, exciting and affordable trip. I was showered with warmth at Julian and Amanda's stunning villa where the views are to die for! The day excursions and yoga were well balanced and afforded time for quite relaxation.       "I have had my Iceland guide for ten years and my yoga practice for over 20. This Iceland retreat met all my expectations. The well thought-through itinerary for the discovery of a new place, meeting amazing & lovely people, Erin’s knowledge of the area & yoga and the food. The yoga classes were a relaxed start into an amazing day, accessible & deeply enjoyable for all levels of practitioners. The perfect mix for discovering an amazingly intriguing country.
