Earth Yoga Village is your home away from home. As the name gives it away, they stay connected with Mother Earth in every thought and action. This is also reflected in the experience they provide when you stay with them. They offer time and the ideal setting to connect with yourself and nature. They are strongly engaged in making the village more eco-friendly. The village runs partly on solar power and they work hard on adding further eco-friendly measures. Their connection with nature is vital and they strive towards that connection in their everyday life and with every action.

They welcome you to join the movement by bringing your own refillable bottle, keeping plastic to a necessary minimum, and being mindful of the resources you use from Mother Nature. Electricity provided by the sun is available from dawn for you to have the lights on, use the fan, and charge your gadgets. Please bear in mind that you live in close proximity to the surrounding nature which means you might come across the odd visitor like a frog, insects, and monkeys. They are all very friendly.

The setup

Their humble and basic yet beautiful and comfortable set-up includes accommodation for up to 55 people, a small healthy community kitchen, yoga shalas, a healing wellness space, a small library which they are slowly growing based their founder readings so far but they look forward to adding your life-changing or inspiring book you may donate or recommend, silent area, chill-out areas, hammocks, and lots of love, smiles, and peace every day all day.


The village offers a homey and comfortable stay in a blissful setting. They have kept their village as natural as possible to make you feel connected, always keeping your comfort in mind. There are 10 double or twin huts and an all-female dorm which are beautifully inspired by Rajasthani designs. The double or twin huts come with an open-air bathroom for your moonlight shower whilst gazing at the stars. All huts come with your daily essentials such as towels, toilet paper, mosquito net, bed linen, bed cover, pillows, blanket, and a fan.

Yoga space

You have a stunning open-plan yoga shala made of mostly organic and natural materials that will offer a blissful practice in a gentle breeze. In addition to the beautiful shala space, you also practice in different settings such as the beach to further connect with nature. Mats and cushions are provided for your own individual practice as well as mat spray to clean the mats and keep the space hygienic.

Healing and wellness space

They offer a peaceful healing room in a private setting in nature. All therapies are available at this space to help you heal and rejuvenate.

The four paths of yoga

Raja yoga - the science of physical and mental control (asana and meditation)

Often called the 'royal road', it offers a comprehensive method for controlling the waves of thought by turning your mental and physical energy into spiritual energy. Raja yoga is also called Ashtanga yoga, referring to the eight limbs leading to absolute mental control. The chief practice of Raja yoga is meditation.

It also includes all other methods which help to control body, energy, senses, and mind. The Hatha-Yogi uses relaxation and other practices such as Yamas, Niyamas, Mudras, Bandhas, etc. to gain control of the physical body and the subtle life force called Prana. When body and energy are under control, meditation comes naturally.

Jnana yoga - the yoga of knowledge and wisdom (lectures, workshops, interaction, or discussion)

This is the most difficult path requiring tremendous strength of will and intellect. Taking the philosophy of Vedanta the Jnana yogi uses his mind to inquire into its own nature. You perceive the space inside and outside a glass as different, just as you see yourselves as separate from God.

Jnana yoga leads the devotee to experience his unity with God directly by breaking the glass, dissolving the veils of ignorance. Before practicing Jnana yoga, the aspirant needs to have integrated the lessons of the other yogic paths - for, without selflessness and love of God, the strength of body and mind, the search for self-realization can become mere idle speculation.

Karma yoga - the yoga of action (selfless service to the community)

Karma yoga is the yoga of action. It purifies the heart by teaching you to act selflessly, without thought of gain or reward. By detaching yourself from the fruits of your actions and offering them up to God or Universe, you learn to sublimate the ego.

Bhakti yoga - the yoga of devotion or divine love

The Bhakti yogi is motivated chiefly by the power of love and sees God or Universe as the embodiment of love. Through prayer, worship, and ritual, he or she surrenders himself or herself to God or Universe channeling and transmuting his or her emotions into unconditional love or devotion. Chanting or singing the praises of God or Universe form a substantial part of Bhakti yoga.

The five points of yoga

Proper relaxation

When the body and the mind are constantly overworked, their natural efficiency to perform work diminishes. Modern social life, food, work, and even the so-called entertainment, such as disco dancing, make it difficult for modern people to relax. Many have even forgotten that rest and relaxation are nature's way of recharging.

Even while trying to rest, the average person expends a lot of physical and mental energy through tension. Much of the body's energy is wasted uselessly. During complete relaxation, there is practically no energy or Prana being consumed, although a little is keeping the body in normal condition while the remaining portion is being stored and conserved.

Proper exercise

Your physical body is meant to move and exercise. If your lifestyle does not provide natural motion of muscles and joints, then disease and great discomfort will ensue with time. Proper exercise should be pleasant to the practitioner while beneficial to the body, mind, and spiritual life.​

Proper breathing

Yoga teaches you how to use the lungs to their maximum capacity and how to control the breath. Proper breathing should be deep, slow, and rhythmical. This increases vitality and mental clarity.

Proper diet

Besides being responsible for building your physical body, the foods you eat profoundly affect your mind. For maximum body-mind efficiency and complete spiritual awareness, yoga advocates a lacto-vegetarian diet. This is an integral part of the yogic lifestyle.

Positive thinking and meditation

Here is the most important point of all, you become what you think. Thus, you should exert to entertain positive and creative thoughts as these will contribute to vibrant health and a peaceful, joyful mind. A positive outlook on life can be developed by learning and practicing the teachings of the philosophy of Vedanta. This is the community day off in the village where they encourage their guests to explore the many beaches, restaurants, and markets in and around Palolem. On your day of arrival, please arrive at 12:00 p.m. and check-in is from 2:00 p.m. On your day of departure, checkout is at 11:00 a.m. During this time, you gather to open your hearts and minds with a focus on 'living the life you love and loving the life you live' through various spiritual activities such as lectures, interactive discussions, dynamic meditations, circles, dance, massage circles, questions and answers.

Retreat location

The retreat will take place in Palolem Beach, Goa, India. Set in the cooling shades of lush green jungle and connected with a small bamboo bridge to one of Goa's most beautiful beaches, you will find the village to be extremely peaceful and the ideal place to relax.

It is conveniently located in South Goa on the paradise beach of Palolem which is known for its blissful vibes, laid back people, and beautiful nature. The location offers an ideal place to explore the stunning beaches, beautiful local villages, and surrounding nature outside of your retreat schedule. And with the gentle ocean breeze to refresh you, you will never want to leave.

Palolem Beach

Palolem Beach is located within two and a half kilometers of the market town of Chaudi in South Goa, and about 35 kilometers from Margao, the district headquarters of South Goa. Other neighboring beaches in South Goa include Agonda, Colva, Patnem, and Galjibaga Beach. Other nearby attractions include the Arpora night market (65 kilometers), Spice Farm (35 kilometers), or Dudhsagar Waterfall (35 kilometers). At Palolem Beach, the Arabian Sea stretches between two magnificent headlands, and the beach is lined with towering coconut palms.

Palolem Beach is largely unspoiled and is inhabited by both local fishermen and by foreign tourists who live in shacks along the shore or in the main village itself. The white sandy beach gently curves round to form a crescent shape and is about one mile (approximately 1.61 kilometers) long. One can view the entire beach from either end. Both ends of the beach consist of rocks jutting out into the sea.

The depth of the sea increases gradually, being shallowest at the northern end of the beach, making it safe for average swimmers, and the currents are not fast. The village which despite the large influx of tourists every year has managed to remain a local and traditional village just with a few added souvenir stalls. Palolem is also ideal for young families as the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and safe.

Your bodies have an incredible ability to detoxify and excrete unwanted and potentially harmful substances from the system. Naturally, this process works very efficiently and does an excellent job. However, your environment has changed quite dramatically and more than ever you are exposed to exogenous and endogenous toxins that can have a negative effect on your health.

Detoxification is a primary function of the body, constantly working and interacting with all other systems of the body. So when you are talking about detoxification, it is about improving and optimizing the function of your body’s own detoxification systems. This is done by decreasing the number of toxins you put into your bodies while at the same time supporting your body’s detoxification and elimination systems with the nutrients it needs to function properly. The detoxification system is a key component of your body’s optimal functioning.

Most of the molecules made by your bodies every day are for getting rid of waste products. Hundreds of enzymes, vitamins, and other molecules are needed to help rid the body of unwanted waste products and chemicals. Hence, it is important to ensure a steady supply of all essential nutrients through diet. Although the bulk of the work is done by the liver and the intestinal tract, the kidneys, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin are all involved in this complex detoxification system. Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massages have been in practice for a long time, now. This massage relieves the stress and strain of the clientele’s body and mind. There is a lot more to your muscle pain than you think. When your body goes through extreme stress, deep inside your tissues, cells, and their functioning is exhausted, which results in fatigue.

If left untreated, this can lead to chronic pain. Deep tissue massage repairs those exhausted cells, which are deep inside your tightened tissues. As the therapists apply the pressure on these muscles to loosen up tightened tissues, you will feel the improvement in your blood circulation. Ultimately, the massage will leave you feeling light as a feather. The duration is 75 minutes.

Aroma Ayurvedic massage

Help stimulates optimal blood circulation and expels toxins from the body. Physically, it aids the functioning of the internal organs; mentally, it relieves stress and fatigue and rejuvenates the mind and body. Ayurvedic massage further aids in toning muscles, opening skin pores as well as in expelling excess fat from the body. The duration is 60 minutes.

Driving directions from Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) Bus Depot in Canacona

  • Continue along the main road (not turning left towards the beach).
  • Walk through the Dreamcatcher Resort near the end of the road.
  • Follow the path to the beach.
  • Take a right passing Cozy Nook and following the beach further around to the right.
  • You will then see the bamboo bridge which will take you straight into the village.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Goa International Airport (GOI). Earth Yoga Village can organize an airport transfer at an extra charge of 1800 INR from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or 2000 INR from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The driver will assist you all the way to the village with your luggage without any extra charge or tips. In case of a flight delay, you will have to pay an extra 200 INR per hour after the first hour payable to the driver directly.

Arrival by bus

There are bus services at a regular interval of 30 minutes from the Palolem beach to the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) Bus Depot in Margao. The nearest KTC depot is at Canacona.

Arrival by train

The nearest railway station is the Canacona railway station which can be reached from the Madgaon Junction railway station in just 60 minutes.
