You will stay at Pack Creek Ranch. Cradled in the foothills of the La Sal Mountains, Pack Creek Ranch cabins are just south of Moab and are spread out over 15 acres of land, most of it pasture. This small hamlet is part of a historic 300-acre ranch favored by visitors, locals and guests alike for its moderate summertime temperatures, exceptional mountain, and desert views and natural beauty.

The secluded location means you won't find network televisions or telephone landlines so you can relax and escape daily pressures. However, high-speed internet and some television options are available. The Pack Creek Road House is one of the most beautifully redone cabins that Moab has to offer. Located in Pack Creek, about 20 minutes from downtown Moab, you’ll feel refreshed from the mountain air at the base of the La Sal mountains.

The two bedrooms two bath cabin has views of the mountains in nearly every room thanks to the big windows. The famous Abbey Cabin is just a couple of steps outside of the home, giving the Roadhouse a total of three bedrooms. This is the site where Edward Abbey wrote several of his pieces.

Now fully remodeled, it serves as an additional sleeping area with a new queen sleeper sofa. You’re going to want this kitchen in your own home. It’s bright and airy, has a farmhouse sink, wood countertops, a great window, and cute light fixtures. It has all the supplies necessary to make a large meal. The dining area and living room are combined.

You’ll want to sit all day looking at your views and admiring the intricacies this home has to offer, like the beautiful wood ceiling, furniture, fireplace and so much more. If you want to connect back to the world, then you will be happy to have a smart TV and Wi-Fi. Cell reception is a little dodgy out at Pack Creek.

Both bedrooms have queen size beds and will serve as perfect retreats after a full day of adventuring. There is also a swimming pool, hot tub and a detoxing sauna. Soak up some sun in the hammock on the back deck, or enjoy the scenery while barbequing on the propane grill. There is quite a bit of wildlife out at Pack Creek including adorable goats.

What makes this adventure different from other trips is:

  • This is definitely a contender for the one with the widest range of activities. In addition to climbing and yoga, you also go rafting down the beautiful Colorado River.
  • It's also one of the best for those of you who are looking to connect with other awesome people because you all stay together in a beautiful cabin nestled at the base of the La Sal Mountains, which gives you more time to get to know each other.
  • Although all of our trips are great for new climbers, this is the best trip for an introduction to rock climbing and yoga. Earth Play Retreats teaches technical climbing skills along with movement skills in a fun, safe and encouraging environment to help you flow up the rock with ease. Note that experienced climbers do come too and will also have a blast.
  • The tower is a once in a lifetime opportunity to climb a mega classic climb to the summit of an inspiring summit in the Moab desert. Even those new to climbing will be more than ready to tackle the optional tower day after climbing just two half days with our amazing staff.
  • This is the only trip where you get to go rafting! And on the magnificent Colorado river, no less.
  • Being in the continental U.S., it's also one of the more easily reached retreat locations.

Optional tower day

This is a full day and includes all gear and guided experience up iconic Ancient Art tower or Looking Glass Rock (depending on skill level). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to use your new and improved climbing skills to reach a spectacular summit.

Ancient Art

At Fisher Towers, an ancient seabed layer has been worn away to make some of the most intricate formations in the Moab area. Ancient Art sits near the base of the large towers, which loft 900 feet above. Still, rising almost 350 feet from its base to the corkscrew-shaped summit, Ancient Art is one of the most gravity-defying summits in the area. Route: Stolen Chimney (II 5.8 A0 or 5.10) 4 pitches.

Looking Glass Rock

Looking Glass Dome is the perfect introductory multi-pitch rock climbing route. Featuring low-angle slab climbing which is perfect for learning footwork this climb ascends three pitches to the spacious summit and jaw-dropping views. After enjoying the summit, you will do a wild 140 feet rappel through the eye of an arch. Route: East Rib (5.6) - 3 pitches.
