To maintain a balanced body and mind, you need to be nourished with the right type and the right amount of food. Meals are therefore a key aspect of the resort, and one of its highlights. Each meal is thoughtfully prepared remaining true to the natural ingredients, each with their own flavors, textures, and aromas. The resorts’ chefs use fresh, seasonal and local produce, primarily sourced from their own organic farms, or from other local farmers. Meals complement the treatments and philosophy of the resort, leading you gently towards an enriching lifestyle.

With interiors made up of stone and heavy wood, this is a cozy space to relax in the evenings. Sitting by the fire on a chilly winter’s evening can be a perfect way to end a day of activity at the nearby hills.

Mako’s Zen

Zen Buddhist cuisine is based on the diet that was originally followed by monks in training. The five tastes (hot, sour, sweet, bitter, and salty) are combined with the five colors (red, white, black, green, and yellow), and five ways of cooking (fresh, boiling, roasting, steaming, and frying) to satisfy one’s appetite in a disciplined and nutritious way. Creatively offering vegetarian Japanese cuisine that is light on sodium and other flavorings, a meal at Mako’s Zen is a feast for the senses and easy on the body.

Nature’s flavors

Celebrating nature’s abundance, the Nature’s Flavors Restaurant provides a range of culinary experiences from the Himalayan region and beyond. Using many ingredients that are sourced from their own organic farms, meals are fresh, nutritious, and full of flavor.

Poolside restaurant

Set beside the infinity pool close to the top of the hillside, the striking wood and glass-paneled restaurant looks out onto the Himalayan mountain range. Offering a range of flavors from Nepal along with popular world cuisines, this is also the restaurant to visit for a sweet treat.

The price of this retreat includes one invigorating stress relieving massage to de-stress and relieve any tension in your body, one harmonious combination of herbal body scrub with unique combination of skin rejuvenating herbs, followed by a revitalizing steam bath to relax and revive, one session of Shirodhara calm and purify your mind, and one session of Pada Avayanga, a stimulating and soothing massage of the legs, feet, and ankles.

You are also allowed complimentary usage of fitness center, swimming pool, meditation maze, chakra sound therapy chamber, Himalayan rock salt room, and the garden of nine planets

Body treatments

The Pancha Kosha Himalayan Spa offers a range of treatments, drawing from the ancient wisdom of the Vedas, Buddhist medicine, and the rare medicinal herbs of the Himalayas. Addressing each Kosha, each therapy and massage has been designed to relax the senses and revive the body.

Set in lush woodland, several spa suites have been designed for individuals and couples to enjoy the treatments in complete privacy and comfort.

A range of unique experiences and adventures are available in conjunction with the scheduled activities. Under the guidance of an Ayurvedic doctor and naturopathy expert, meditation, yoga and astrology masters, Hindu priest, and visiting monk, you will be able to find an atmosphere of complete harmony, renewal, and growth.

Chakra sound chambers

One of the central aspects of yogic philosophy and Buddhist medicine, the Chakras are centers of energy, responsible for distributing energy around the body. The balance of the Chakras can be maintained through the use of color, light, sound, positive energy, and crystals; each of which have been integrated into the chakra sound therapy chamber.

Each chamber is dedicated to one of the seven Chakras present in the human body. With optional guidance, you can work to rebalance the Chakras, allowing energy to flow smoothly throughout the body, stimulating the positivity, and power within.

Himalayan salt room

The Himalayan rock salt is the purest form of salt on earth. Containing more than 80 important minerals, its nutritional and healing properties are well documented. Walled with rock crystals, the salt room is beneficial for the respiratory system, in particular for sufferers of asthma or hay fever. Himalayan rock salt treatment is also known to strengthen the immune system, can cure skin allergies, enhance the tone of the skin, and release negative energies from the body.

Meditation maze

Surrounded by eighty-four Shiva Lingas, the cosmic pillar that represents the infinite nature of Lord Shiva, the meditation maze is a synergy of spiritual power and nature, best experienced soon after sunrise. As you gently lay your feet on the grass floor within the maze and absorb the early morning dew, the healing energies of the earth and the universe is transmitted to your body, leaving you feeling revived and fresh.

The cosmic pillar represents strength and creation. In such a positive environment, nature does its own wonders by helping you establish an inner balance to set you on a positive path for the day. Meditating beside by the maze in the mornings can help deepen your powers of concentration, strengthen the heart and the lungs, relax the body, and counter mental fatigue.

Navagraha Vana

According to Hindu Vedic astrology, the positions of the nine planets (navagraha) deeply affect our lives, influencing our health, emotions, the level of success, and hardship that you face. The “Garden of the Nine Planets” has captured the vibrant cosmic energies of the planets with a combination of trees, bushes, and grass species, which are specific to each planet. The plantation at this garden helps to counteract any difficulties that have arisen from the influence of the planets, giving protection from such forces. Consultation with an astrological master can be arranged upon request.

"Awesome! This is where you want to go after you’ve done your tour of Nepal. This is the spot you’ll want to drop everything and stay put. Yoga, painting, pottery, meditation, chakra balancing, sound therapy - and a spa. The views are mind numbing. This is pure ZEN, look no further. Rooms are dreamy and some have outdoor lounges. I can’t imagine a better place to reconnect with one’s self or one’s partner. This is a very unique destination hotel and is a ‘stand alone’ hotel in the sense that when you get there, you don’t need to leave. It’s almost an hour outside of the city, so this is a good hotel to combine with a city hotel. This hotel is great for anyone looking for luxury and peace & quiet!! The food here is AMAZING, farm fresh and organic. Their fine dining option is truly gourmet. Don’t even think about it - just book it! Dwarika’s Resort will not disappoint you."

"An amazing gem in the heart of Nepal. The resort offers so many activities, from Yoga, meditation, spa, pottery, painting to consultation with the Doctor, visit to the local farms. It also give the opportunity to have a cooking class with Chef Pramod, an amazing, creative, genuine 5* Chef. All the staff in the resort has been really welcoming. We could not thank them enough for sharing their knowledge with us from the Doctor to the artists (painter and pottery master) and the yoga guru; everything will be unforgettable. I am so glad we picked this resort compered to the one in Kathmandu."

"We had great experience at this resort in Dhulikel. Our suite was luxuriously furnished and everything in it seemed very authentic and natural. Utmost care is taken in the development of the property and it offers many activities for someone who wants to unwind amidst the nature, including yoga and meditation. We had splendid view from our suite which also had its own terrace and a courtyard. Food was great. We had Nepalese, Japanese and Continental dinners and each was sumptuous. We also had a private dinner on our terrace which was a very romantic experience. Staff are very well trained, professional and cordial. Their attention to detail is to be experienced. This place has a spiritual aura to it. Special mention must be made of Chef Pramod, Aurveda doctor Nirmala, Anoop, Satish and Bhuvan among others. Thanks to everyone for making our stay memorable. Masseurs Manju and Suman were also excellent. All in all, a perfect break it was for me and my wife."

"This property is outstanding, as is the location!! The resort is located at an altitude of 1,700 meters, giving the guest an incredible view of the Himalayas. Because the resort wasn't full on the days we were there, we were given the best suite- felt like we were celebrities! Huge suite and bathroom (with shower and tub), private entry with stairs leading to our personal rooftop viewing area (rooftop included a bed, living room area, etc.) All was absolutely beautiful! The chef here is amazing! We had incredible food! Staff extremely kind and helpful! We took a pottery class, painting class, and consulted with a Dr. of Vedic Philosophy (interesting!) all included in the price. Classes in yoga, etc. are also offered. There are 40 suites and 3 restaurants here. Go to Nepal and enjoy this wonderful property!"

"My partner and I traveled to Nepal Jan13-22, 2016 and stayed at a number of places during the duration of the trip, which I will discuss in separate reviews, but the highlight of the trip, and dare I say, one of the most decadent and unique hotel experiences in my life, was our five day City and Country package through the Dwarika Hotel and Resort Group. The details of the package can be found on the hotel's website, but suffice it to say, I have never experienced anything like the pampering and attention we received by the staff at the Dwarika Hotel in Kathmandu, but especially at their sister resort in Dhulikhel. "

"From the minute we arrived the staff at the resort treated us like visiting dignitaries. I think part this may be due to the low season and possibly the effect of the earthquake on tourism, but I sincerely believe that the staff truly care about the experience that guests have at the resort and go out of their way to ensure each stay is exceptionally memorable."

"Three days of incredible meals prepared daily from only fresh ingredients grown/sourced on the property, amazing spa sessions, yoga and meditation classes, painting/pottery/cooking classes from specialists in their respective fields, all within an amazing view of the Himalayan mountain range. "

"And this doesn't even take into account the property itself, which is very special and obviously is a labor of love and passion. Serene walking trails, lush vegetation, an infinity pool that looks out over the mountains and countryside, an observation lodge from which to view the incredible sunrises and sunset, and so so much more."

"Nepal is safe, and open for tourism. There are amazing things to see and do in the country and the Nepalese are friendly, open and eager to accept tourists. If you are ok with splurging a little, definitely stay at the hotel AND the resort. It doesn't have to be a package, but nothing else can compare to these two amazing properties."

"Thank you for the most wonderful stay. I first came to Dhulikhel 20 years ago to build a school for blind children at Sanjiwani College. I returned to meet those children 20 years later, to celebrate my son's 1st birthday and to show my family the magic of Nepal. Dwarika's has made our stay ever more magical, the staff is first class, the food, rooms, views, atmosphere, and spirit of the hotel are amazing. I will be back. Thank you for everything and making our sons birthday so special."
