The course at Durga’s Tiger School is more than a yoga teacher training, it is an intense transformational experience. In the Tantric perspective, everyone is related through experience. These experiences in turn help you discover deeper, your true nature. Through this training, you may discover the barriers and blockages, unlock your potential to feel. When you start feeling, you realize everything is sacred and, from here, you begin to dance with life.
Balancing Kaula Tantra Yoga practice, Shamanism, Theatre Arts techniques, and dynamic group work, the different aspects of the training help to realize a more profound self-encounter. You will learn, not only to share the yoga discipline from the heart but also to work energetically in connection with the others (people, animals, elements, plants, etc). A discovery that you will be able to bring back to your daily life, taking the seeds of what you have learned and watching them flourish. Saying yes to Durga’s Tiger School is a jump into trusting the flow of existence. Are you in?

Or just lie in the hammock and read or meditate on treetops dancing in the wind. It is pure luxury to offer a retreat place in a rural environment at the edge of the ecological reserve Ilal and so close to the center of Quito, 25 minutes by car.
This place is made by ecological local materials and a sustainable way of living is promoted. Accommodation will be in double or triple rooms equipped with kitchen and bathroom with hot shower. You will share meals every day in the communitarian terrace enjoying the view.
Different morning meditations
With the rising popularity of yoga in the recent past, many different styles and teachings have established themselves. So what does the Kaula Tantra yoga practice offer you?
The sequence taught at our school comes straight from an ancient lineage and is based on the teachings of Bhagavan Shanmuka Anantha Natha. We work with asanas, bandhas, pranayama, mudras, and mantras. Different to other practices, this series is practiced in a slow and flowing manner to build patience and awareness. Each asana is held gently for a period of time to allow students to relax into the posture. This way, each individual finds their own unique way of expressing the asanas without pressure of competing or performing perfectly.
Tantra yoga facilitators approach students as whole human beings and discourage isolating or forcing muscles. Their priority is to hold a space of acceptance and love, with only little guidance where necessary.
Over time, students learn to meditate in the postures to connect with the divine. This yoga specifically cultures the diaphragms and thus balances every area of life, including sexuality.
Please note that classes do not involve nudity or sexual contact. In the advanced stages, deeper Pranayama practice, Bandhas, and Mantra practices are incorporated to culture Kundalini energy.
Through Kundalini yoga, as taught by Yogi Bajhan, students learn another different, approach to energy work in yoga. Students explore kryias, pranayama, chakra theory, and the practice of kryas will be focused on different chakras each time to help students feeling them.
As we are living in Ecuador with a huge indigenous population, students also have the opportunity to learn about Andean culture, its cosmovision, and its similarities with eastern culture. During the course, shamanistic energy concepts are explored together with the Tibetan tantric tradition. There are parallels in how these two different traditions understand energy, astrology, subtle anatomy, and physiology. This work helps Ecuadorian yoga students integrate more easily with eastern wisdom.
There are alway two shamanic rituals included In the trainings: the andean Limpia with medicinal plants of our mountains and the Temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge.
In this training, we added one more ritual with the power plant of cacao, in which you will connect with the sacred energy of the cacao and with the ancient and traditional use of this plant.
The process of self-discovery will be supported by the work of one of our Arts teachers in the classes of ritual and play or “Heyoca - the Shamanic clown”. Self-expression, connection with the ancestors, connection with yourself and the group at the same time will allow for.a very experimental trip into your emotions and your power of creation.
We will approach the vision and methodology of the Kaula Tantra yoga practice in these classes. We will develop a connection with our inner body intelligence, learn how to read it better and act according to it’s current needs. It’s about the combined powers of the mind and the physical body and the effect of being totally in harmony with the messages we perceive form our bodies in each moment
Durga’s Tiger Dance is a form of movement developed by Iris Disse based on yoga energy work and different dance styles. It is yet another form through which students deepen their creativity and relaxation in body movement. The training also involves voice work and mantra chanting.
These classes are a powerful opportunity of self discovery. As the course is based on experience, we will create active and participative classes where we will work on some of the main aspects of Tantra. Furthermore, there will be focus on working on specific Chakras.
We will discover the joy and the importance of support and be supported, The challange is to take care of the sacred space dancing between me and my partner, and I experience the joy of giving and receiving.
In these classes, we will keep on working on many asanas of the Kaula Tantra yoga series, using the approach of tantric wisdom, in which we will focus in presence, senses, connection, body communication and, in this way, we will create the dance of Shiva and Shakti.
Derived fom Ayurvedic wisdom, this ancient foot massage was used to prepare warriors for battle, as well as open the physical and energetical bodies before the yoga practice. Working with partners is a very effective, meditative, and intutive way to give and receive before the yoga practice. The massage touches many important Marma Points as well as softening the muscles.
Karma Yoga is part of the learning process of community life. We help each other to maintain common spaces and materials, we take care of the “Pachamama” (Earth). Through karma yoga, we keep in contact with the earth and its fruits as we contribute to the well being and learning of the group.
Living in the ashram enables students to focus intensively on their training, away from everyday tasks and distractions, fully immersing themselves in a process of learning and self-discovery. Students discover the joy of deeply engaging in yogic practice and lifestyle without their usual responsibilities and the busyness of daily life. A close, and energetic group environment is created to enable students to share their experience and learning process and thus collectively deepen their understanding of the yoga practice.
Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance and Yoga Alliance International. Registration with these two organizations provides a globally recognized credential.
