It's all up to you, and how you want to spend your time in beautiful Costa Rica.

When you're not doing yoga, or exploring Costa Rica, you can explore Docelunas' five acres of landscaped gardens. "This was my third trip to docelunas and will not be my last.this place is great.my room was very nice and having a pool and Jacuzzi right outside seals the deal.the staff was very helpful in helping me plan my activites and car rental.they would meet with me and help me plan my next days event.the grounds are well kept .one morning I got up and saw a troop of monkeys eating mangos outside my door.the hotel is located at the base of a mountain and you can walk to the beach in 10 15 min a cab runs you bout 3 bucks.the food at the hotel was excellent and featured local cusine.i would highly recommend this place to anyone and often do.it is also located close to two rainforests and the ocean this makes it easy to find plenty to do while you stay but hanging by the pool at the hotel is a good way to spend time.you cant go wrong with this place."

"Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Jaco. Why would you? This amazing hotel retreat center is a little slice of peace, nature and Zen in an otherwise busy area. It's a little bit on the outside of it all and that's just perfect. "

"The rooms are large, the bathrooms are large, everything is so tastefully done, the decor, the ambiance. I have to admit that after traveling in Costa Rica for a few weeks, I was impressed with the quality that went into Doce Lunas. "

"I came here to scout properties for an upcoming Yoga retreat, and not only would I book my retreat here, but i would come to stay for a few days after backpacking through Costa Rica. "

"This place is ideal for taking care of yourself and having some "me" time. When you want to go out, downtown Jaco is a short ride. Best of both worlds. "

"Must do: Walk the grounds, within only a few minutes, I saw so many types of birds and insects that I stopped counting. So much to see! Biodiversity at its best. "

"My husband and I stayed at Doce Lunas for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. Apparently we came to Costa Rica right after tourist season ended so were were one of two guests at the hotel. It was quiet and relaxing trip. Doce Lunas is tucked a little ways back from the beach but the beauty of the flowers and greenery make up for the lack of absolute proximity to the ocean. Chris, the owner, was very accommodating. Since we were basically the only people at the resort he was very flexible with dining hours and even offered to pack us lunches when we took a day trip to a national park! Also, our tv settings got switch around and everything was in Spanish (it was supposed to be in English) and he let us borrow some movies from his personal collection. I know some people have complained about the beds, and yes they are a little hard, but from my experiences in central and south america it seems that plush, pillow top beds are a pretty hot commodity. Also, a quick look on a map would show you that it's not right on the beach. Every time we needed to leave the resort we just asked a staff member to call us a cab and we were on our way in no time! "

"Doce Lunas is definitely not on the same level as an all inclusive resort, but if you're wanting a nice, enjoyable, more budget friendly vay-cay I'd definitely recommend the place."

"Just returned from another great stay at DoceLunas! I wouldn't stay anywhere else. For being only one mile from downtown Jaco this place feels like it's in the middle of the rainforest! The grounds are beautiful and the pool is always clean and just the right temperature. The staff is quick to accommodate too. We went on a fishing trip and the cooks told us to bring anything we caught back and they would cook it up for us! They can cook some fish!! It was delicious! The front desk staff also set us up with car rentals, zip lining, the ropes course, fishing etc. If you are looking for a clean, spacious, chill place that is also close to the action, check out DoceLunas! You will not regret it! We have stayed here in March during the dry season, as well as during October during the rainy season; both times couldn't have been any better. During March visit it was hot and maybe rained once in a week. The October visit it rained in the evenings and sometimes all through the night. It was beautiful all day though. Last but not least, Chris the owner is one cool dude that would give the shirt right off his back for you. Thanks again for making our family's trip one we will never forget!! Till next time!"

"Very nice hotel on a very tropical ground, with a swimming pool, only 3 - 4 kilometers away from central Jaco (4 USD one way by taxi)."

"The room was clean and extremely spacious and so was the bathroom. They have this great yoga studio, all closed up, which was perfect considering it is the creepy crawlies and mosquitoes territory due to all the greenery surrounding it."

"The restaurant food was good but they didn't have most of the food that was offered on the menu because it was the end of the season and i think they were closing for a few weeks after we left, so i ended up eating the same thing twice through lack of choice. Good place to relax and chill."

"Doce Lunas is an amazing space just outside of the town of Jaco. I highly recommend staying here as it is the nicest place I have been to in the five visits I have had to Costa Rica in the last years. "My second visit to Doce lunas was just as great as the first. The staff remembered me from last year and I instantly felt at home. They continued to provide excellent personal service and the food, well, you can't can't wrong. The grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife. The rooms are huge and the pool is clean and always inviting. Doce Luas has become my home base in Costa Rica. I love the seclusion and serenity there, but it is 5 minutes from downtown Jaco. Whether I hop on a bus and take a day trip or rent a car and visit nearby attractions, coming back to Doce Lunas feels like coming home. Many thanks to Chris, Brian, Shirley, Daniel and everyone else. I hope to be back again soon."

"I have stayed at DoceLunas multiple times and will continue to come back because of the atmosphere and hospitality. The staff is welcoming and was very helpful getting my friends and I acclimated to Jaco. They have an awesome pool that leads up to the restaurant / bar. My friends and I love to come here to hang out and watch the games. If youre lucky enough to get Shirley as your bartender she makes great specialty drinks, including a pineapple / basil margarita. The food is top notch as well and made fresh. Thanks to Chris, Brian, and Chris who run the place and make sure our vacation is great every time."

"This resort is a gem. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are large, well appointed with beautiful dark woods, and tastefully decorated. Most mornings we started with yoga, up in the studio. While me wife and I weren't accustomed to the heat, the instructor wonderfully kind, and slowed things down for us until we adjusted. The food, we want to go back for the food alone. Home cooked and delicious. Can't wait to return!"

"Everything about DoceLunas was wonderful from the lush jungle atmosphere, the exceedingly friendly staff, the high-quality food and just overall character of the rooms and layout. Truly stunning. We felt like we were in a secluded mountain hideaway instead of minutes off the Jaco strip. Our king room was spacious and the beds were well kept. We even spent a day watching the wildlife at the resort, including a huge iguana and all kinds of exotic insects. We were there during Cicada season (they are loud) but quickly adjusted and had no trouble sleeping."

"DoceLunas met and surpassed my expectations a thousand times over...and I expected a lot! We took a large group and had the hotel to ourselves for the week and the experience could not have been better. From the moment you arrive, the incredible foliage makes you feel like you're secluded in your own jungle getaway even though it's just a short walk or cab ride to town. The grounds are incredibly well-maintained, with a breathtaking array of local plants and flowers. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and you never feel crowded or aware of your neighbors. The pool was perfect and my husband and I found ourselves happily spending the better part of our days and nights cooling off and spending time with our friends. The staff was friendly and attentive and made us feel so at home, we found it hard to leave when the week was over. I highly recommend DoceLunas and we can't wait to go back!"

"This is definitely one of my favorite hotels. It is close to Jaco, but you feel like you are so far away in the middle of the quiet rainforest. The staff is very professional and fluent in English. The food at the restaurant is great and the atmosphere is truly unique with the canopy overhead. Brian is great for helping to recommend local place to visit. He was extremely helpful in helping us get quickly to the hotel from the airport despite 2 delayed flights. It is just such an amazing place to stay. The rooms were clean and quiet. The spa completely exceeding our expectations, too! Every morning we woke up to birds outside our windows. "My husband and I had our wedding at DoceLunas Aug 2014. We wanted to have a private place for us and all of our guests. We didn't want tourists watching our wedding on the beach in their swimsuits or sharing a beach or resort with another couple also trying to experience their wedding. We contacted Brian and he made the planning so easy. He provided us with contact information for the cake, florist, photographer, and hair and make up. He sent pictures so we could visualize where we could have our ceremony. The grounds were so beautiful and I was so excited to have a garden wedding in front of their huge, amazing trees. We didn't arrive until about 11pm but Brian and the staff were ready for us and our 28 guests and escorted everyone to their rooms. They had, nachos, dips and beverages ready and waiting for us by the pool. The food at the restaurant is simply amazing!!! The cleaning staff were great along with everyone else. They were so helpful with booking excursions, Brian even joined us on a trip to 3 pools waterfall!! I highly recommend going. Our wedding day was the most amazing experience and they stopped at nothing to make us happy! Our wedding supper was the most amazing meal I have ever had and to top it all off we had fireworks. The locals were so excited to partake in the fireworks. We could not believe the complimentary breakfast in bed for the morning after our wedding. We could have fed all of our guests there were so many dishes. It was spectacular. Being at DoceLunas felt like being at home. The ages ranged from 5 years old to 75 years old and everyone had a blast! There were minor issues such as some bugs in the rooms but they immediately remedied the situation. My husband and I will definitely go back."

"I found Docelunas through Trip Advisor. Hotels.com does not list them. We conversed directly with Brian to make arrangements. We made the drive directly from San Jose the day of arrival, making the trip in spite late flight and slow luggage. I liked it better than staying one night in a hotel and then moving."

"Here are the high points:- Affordable."

    "- Big soaking bathtub"

"- Huge beautiful room with a powerful air conditioner"

"- Spectacular pool area, not the kind with drinks at a swim up bar, but the kind with birds and flowers. Macaws every morning."

"- Costa Rican breakfast every morning"

"- Uncrowded, open air dining room with attentive service. "

"- Minimal gift shop, no pressure to buy tours, "

"A few minor room issues were fixed the morning after arrival. What a great place. We did tours during the day, and returned for drinks and visiting in the bar each evening. We found it laid back, relaxing, and a good spot to retreat from the hustle and bustle of Jaco. We went to Manuel Antonio one day, to Carara Park the next, and had time to stop and see sunset at the Amphitheater. This morning, we got to help release turtle hatchlings with the Jaco police. They are involved in protecting the eggs and helping with the release in the morning. It was spectacular. Each morning, we would go and check the nests at about 4:30. Day 4, we were rewarded with 34 baby turtles ready to head to the sea."

"With sprawling jungle grounds, a gorgeous swimming pool complete with a waterfall, and rooms are more comparable in size to an apartment than hotel room, Hotel Doce Lunas is a quiet and cozy oasis that lends to a comfortable stay. The hotel is a 20 minute walk or a quick, 3 USD cab ride from Jaco's bustling city center. I really appreciated the peaceful location. It was perfect for relaxing. A traditional Costa Rican breakfast of gallo pinto, eggs and fruit is included with your stay."

"We had a fantastic 6 day stay in this little paradise. The hotel is 15 min walk away from the beach. The pool area is beautiful, surrounded by jungle and open at all times. The pool is chlorine free. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There are only 20 rooms. The few we saw were very clean, spacious and with great bathrooms. The food and the drinks were excellent! I recommend using taxis to get to the city at night. This is the perfect place to relax with friends, visit the area, go surfing at the beach, organize some activities and enjoy a bit of night life in the city nearby. We will be back."
