"From the moment we were greeted off the seaplane, to the moment we had to say goodbye, our stay at Thudufushi was as close to perfect as possible. All the staff here help create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and they all seemed to genuinely care about making your stay in this slice of paradise, one that you will treasure forever."
"We stayed in Water Villa 7, which is on the sunrise side. I was initially disappointed when we were told that we were staying on the sunrise side, because of the reviews that I had read here. I need not have worried. Our room was huge, and you actually have more privacy than on the sunset side. The best part of the reef is also on the sunrise side (we had turtles, rays, sharks, and fish of all colors, shapes, and sizes swim right past our villa!). We also had sunshine on our deck all day (which I didn't think we would, given some reviews). We found that the best place to watch the sunset was on the beach, with a cocktail in hand!"
"Saeed, our ‘room boy,’ was amazing and very thoughtful. He went to such efforts to keep our room looking beautiful. For instance, we came back from our manta ray excursion to find our bed decorated with flowers and a manta ray made out of towels!"
"The food and drink were all delicious. We mostly ate at the over-water restaurant, and our waiter for the week was incredibly friendly and welcoming and knew exactly what we liked. We also ate at the teppanyaki restaurant and had a romantic dinner on the beach one evening, as well as the main beach restaurant. The food was varied, but the seafood (as you would expect), Italian food, and curries were particularly good."
"The team at the water sports center were all fantastic. They were all great fun, and went to huge efforts to organize excursions and try to make your experiences ones to remember. We were lucky enough to swim with manta rays (ticked off the bucket list) but sadly weren't able to find the whale sharks (still needs to be ticked off!). If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend going on the manta trip, and also on the various snorkeling excursions on offer. The resident marine biologists are brilliant and are keen to teach you about the incredible sea life. I would also highly recommend going on a night snorkel."
"If I get the opportunity, I would certainly return to Thudufushi. They have managed to achieve the very difficult balance of laidback luxury and have done it in style."

"Paradise on earth."
"This hotel is a real pearl with a great management!"
"We flew in my waterplane, which lands luckily not directly at the hotel (like Moo Fushi) but at a pontoon some hundred meters away from the island. Therefore, there is no plane noise on the island. Also, you get to have your first ride on the Dhoni!"
"Beach bungalows are perfectly fine for a vacation, because you spend the majority of your time in the water or at the beach or eating. ;) The outdoor showers are great!"
"The food is well prepared, always fresh and plenty of selection. Since the hotel does only offer all inclusive, it is very comfortable. Great selection of fish and salads, Indian food, BBQ, and pizza/pasta. The waiters are friendly, speak at least English and Italian, and help you with everything you need. Try to get a table close to the beach, so you can see the gray heron looking for fish (when he is not at the BBQ). In fact, everyone is very attentive."
"Approximately 60% of guests are Italian, then some Germans, Swiss, French, Brits, and Americans."
"The watersport activities are included, which is ideal for surfers, sailors, and for kayaking. The iDive center offers dives, and the marine biologist makes snorkeling tours twice a day. The water is clear, the reef is nice and with lots of fish, and still some intact corals. You can see sharks, mantas, turtles, morays, groupers, and so on. I recommend visiting Biology Night, because it is informative and helps you to get to know what to do to protect the reef, flora and fauna."
"Additionally, the hotel offers daily excursions, e.g., manta and whale shark watching, snorkeling at different reefs, sunset fishing, and big-game fishing."
"The weather early September was good. Before we arrived, there were two weeks of constant rain, though."
"As mentioned in the title: A Paradise on Earth!"
"Room tip: when travelling early season (September/October), take a Beach Bungalow."

"Staff is great, food also great (mainly Italian food), but Water Villas are awesome. Rooms have everything you could think to have a memorable stay: big terrace with a table to enjoy your breakfast, all-inclusive minibar, coffee machine, and even good-quality Wi-Fi connection (also a Mac in case you need check the Internet or watch a movie). I cannot think of a better stay in Maldives despite many others having more expensive accommodations."

"We spent three great nights here at the end of an excellent but rather breathless tour of Sri Lanka. It rounded off a great holiday perfectly. From the moment that we arrived in Male, everything worked like clockwork. The flying boat transfer was a real thrill, and we were greeted at the island by friendly, smiling staff who could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Our rooms—beachside bungalows—were right on the pristine white sand beach, really well equipped and fantastically comfortable."
"During our stay, we enjoyed great scuba diving organized by the very professional on-site dive center, a sunset snorkel trip (complete with torches to view the night-time fish), a really informative presentation from the resident marine biologists, first-class cuisine, professional-quality cocktails (cocktails are part of the all-inclusive package—as were an unexpectedly good range of wines) . . . the list goes on."
"I am running out of superlatives."
"The fact is that this place is just brilliant, without being up itself which I find to be a common problem at high-end resorts. Everything and everybody is relaxed. The vibe is as good as I have experienced anywhere. The place is Italian-owned, with a lot of Italian guests who inject a real ‘dolce vita’ feel and who, I assume, are responsible for the fact that the pasta and pizza are the best you will find outside Italy (although the rest of the food is brilliant too—expect to put on a bit of weight)."
"There weren't even any mossies to bother us."
"My recommendation, unless you are on honeymoon, is to go for a beach bungalow—much more fun and one water room on stilts is pretty much the same as another!"
"I only wish that we could have stayed longer . . ."

"When a resort describes itself as being luxurious, there is usually an expectation that there will be a certain amount of pretentiousness as well. However, as far as Thudufushi is concerned, this could not be further from the truth. This is a laidback and down-to-earth yet completely luxurious resort set in an idyllic location in the middle of the Indian Ocean."
"My wife and I spent eight nights at Diamonds Thudufushi as part of our honeymoon. It is fair to say that we never wanted to leave. Everything was fantastic: the service, the food, the accommodation. Everything."
"We stayed in a water villa, which I wholeheartedly recommend. When we arrived, we were taken straight to our water villa to complete our check in. As we sipped on the complimentary cocktails and nibbled on the fruit skewers that were waiting for us on the veranda, we knew that we had arrived in paradise."
"The all-white water villas are exceptional. Inside, the main room has a very comfortable king-size bed, a desk with an iMac, and a day bed. There is a walk-in wardrobe, where the room safe is located. There is also a fully stocked minibar and a tea/coffee machine that is along the same lines as a Nespresso machine but not quite the same quality. The bathroom has three separate sections: the toilet and bidet, a central area with two sinks, and the shower area, which has three different showers and an external door that leads onto the veranda. Outside, the deck is split into two levels. The upper level has a sofa area on one side, and a dining table on the other. The lower deck has two double sun loungers and steps that lead directly down to the sea and the amazing reef that lies underneath the water's surface."
"Snorkels, goggles, and flippers can be borrowed free of charge from the diving center. It is definitely worth getting these, as swimming in the sea at the bottom of the water villa steps is an amazing thing to do. There is coral all around and there are so many different types of fish swimming around. They have no interest in humans, nor are they scared of us. It was amazing swimming over their habitat, watching them swim below."
"There are two restaurants. The restaurant on the island is a buffet restaurant and offers a wide range of different foods from different cuisines. Anyone can eat here, although people staying in the water villas need to phone ahead to book a table. For people staying in water villas, there is also an à la carte over-water restaurant. We ate there most days, as the food was extremely good and varied. There isn't as much choice as there is in the buffet restaurant, but the menu changes completely each day, so there is always a good choice of exclusive dishes not available in the other restaurant. Drinks are served by the glass and your wine glass is never allowed to go empty before someone comes to fill it up! In addition to the restaurants, there is also a snack bar on the beach that serves food such as pizza, chips, fish, sandwiches, and salads from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m."
"One of the highlights of our stay was having lunch at the teppanyaki bar. Seated around 12 people, you are treated to a true Japanese-style meal, which is cooked in front of you. This is a must if you visit Thudufushi, but your place must be booked the day before."
"All-inclusive really does mean all-inclusive at Thudufushi. All soft and alcoholic drinks, including cocktails, as well as food are included. Spirits are premium brands, not the cheap ones that other all-inclusive resorts usually offer! You can pay extra for champagne, prosecco, and wine by the bottle, but this really is unnecessary, given the wide range of drinks available."
"The service on the island is five-star. At times we weren't sure how there were so many staff in such a small island—everything was fantastic. Our room was cleaned twice a day, including a turndown service in the evening with elaborate folding decorations on our bed. As you have the same table in the restaurant for each meal, you also have the same waiter. Our waiter was great at remembering what we liked and very kindly always brought out gluten-free bread for me. Everyone smiled and said hello, no matter where we went on the island."
"One of the novelties for us was having a golf buggy to collect us from our water villa and deliver us wherever we wanted to go. As soon as you step out of your door, the golf buggy will arrive to take you off to your destination, despite nothing being more than around 100 meters away!"
"The spa on Thudufushi was great. We had a honeymoon special, which was a full-body massage and a honey and sesame body scrub. We left after two hours feeling like we were walking on clouds! Although expensive, a visit to the spa is definitely worth it."
"Thudufushi - luxury in paradise."
TripAdvisor website, edited
"If I could, I'd give this resort 6 out of 5 - even though I rarely even hand out a five. Diamonds Thudufushi touches perfection. The island itself is a magnificent jewel in the atoll, very small (you walk around it in less than 10 minutes, and across it in less than a few), but with white sand, healthy plants, and buildings perfectly placed and integrated in the scenery. The hotel also possesses about 25 water villas, stretching out on the shallow waters that never grow deeper than a five meters, and are surrounded by crystal clear water, in which even sharks and turtles can be seen! A paradise for everyone who loves water."
"The hotel provides ample services to enjoy this beautiful environment too. A special word for the IDive center here, which offers PADI courses for scuba diving. If there is one place you should learn how to dive, this is it. The instructors are professionals, ever enthusiastic and patient, and they do place high value in the correctness of their training—if you receive your certificate, it is because you earned it, not because you paid for it. You need to master several skills before you can go to open water dives. It certainly boosts your confidence! For those simply interested in an experience, the resort also offers a 15-minute free trial, and an accompanied one-hour dive without thorough instructions needed."
"Of course, the IDive Center, or the watersports center (which offers catamaran rides and snorkeling equipment and canoes) or the spa are not the only ways of entertainment. There are daily snorkeling tours, excursions to reefs and fishing grounds, and a free trip to Fisherman's Island, where you can get a taste of local Maldivian life and enjoy a swimming party. Still, this variety of activities is not even necessary—the rooms are so neat and beautiful one could spend the entire holiday in them. Especially the water villa suite is recommendable—it includes free laundry, a free minibar, cookies in the afternoon, breakfast on the terrace, a swimming pool, and a Mac computer filled with movies, series, and music, as well as free Wi-Fi. Nothing beats waking in a deep bed with the sounds of wind and sea around you. More than worth its money!"
"A final word on the staff and eating facilities, which are equally impeccable: From the very first day, most of the staff know your name and your room, even if you have never spoken to them. It provides a very personal and familiar feeling (enhanced by the freedom to wear whatever you want, with or without shoes, at every place at every time of the day). The small size of the island helps this familial feeling too. For those lodging in the water villas, a caddy rides regularly on and off to bring you to your room (the way across the water is longer than any path on the island). It is an achievement if you manage to reach the beach without being offered a ride! And no need to tell them your room number—the caddy driver knows. The staff in the restaurants is friendly and correct, and the food (especially in the over-water restaurant) absolutely delicious (and expensive—no cheap dishes for al-inclusive here, but lobster and fish). There is almost nothing to remark. If you are planning a trip to the Maldives, do yourself a favor and visit Thudufushi (and opt for a water villa)."
