Program

Yoga

Yoga is a discipline that represents many practices. Some are more dynamic and sporty such as Ashtanga and Vinyasa, others more gentle such as Hatha yoga. It is a practice considered integral.

Take advantage of the light and warmth of the beautiful Canary Island to strengthen your immune system and recharge your batteries with positive energy. Balance the energies to install well-being in oneself through Yin-Yang practice. During the morning sessions of Hatha yoga, strength and balance will be developed.

After a day rich in new sensations, explore the silence in the immobility of Yin yoga to establish calm, serenity, and restore your body.

Hatha yoga, between tradition and modernity

You'll practice dynamic morning yoga based on body alignment, integrating meditation and breathing. This yogic practice strengthens the physical and mental body while releasing accumulated toxins to find serenity.

What is Hatha yoga?

It has its origins in India. This specific practice of yoga, whose name means “yoga of effort” in Sanskrit, is inspired by the classic Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā texts from the 15th century.

Master Sivananda, the lineage that trained Dharmanas Yoga's instructor as a teacher, was the first master to open a school in India and transmit it to Westerners in the 20th century.

Hatha yoga is a practice that allows you to refocus on yourself and listen to your body. Due to the fact that the postures are held longer than in Dynamic yoga, introspection can take place. Dharmanas Yoga likes to call it 'Integral yoga' because one focuses the practice on different breathing (pranayamas), meditation, and postures (asanas).

How to practice Hatha yoga?

This practice has many advantages, including being able to adapt to all age categories and all practitioners. It is a simple practice that only requires a ventilated area with a yoga mat. It is a rather gentle yoga that adapts the poses to each person's level. There are no particular contraindications, only the fact of practicing on an empty stomach or sufficiently spaced between meals.

How do you practice with Dharmanas Yoga?

At Dharmanas Yoga, they particularly enjoy adapting to the group of the week. The Hatha yoga that they teach can include dynamic Vinyasa phases, a less maintained sequence of postures that further strengthens the muscular and cardiac system. It is also excellent for surfers who go to join them.

The magic of this type of yoga is its versatility, which offers significant physical, mental, and spiritual benefits by adapting to the needs of each person.

The benefits of Hatha yoga

By maintaining postures, people improve concentration and seek precise alignment of the body while toning it gently and deeply. Hatha yoga works on physical balance while disciplining the mind.

When the body and mind find peace after a session of breathing and yogic postures, it is the ideal time to do a few minutes of meditation. The union of one's being can be felt thanks to a feeling of deep well-being.

Traditional Hatha yoga

  • Muscle building
  • Stretching
  • Flexibility
  • Breathing

Hatha yoga has its origins in ancient texts, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. It focuses on the energy of being. In this sense, the etymology of the term sheds more light on the universe of this discipline. In this word, "ha" means "sun" while "tha" means "moon." These two opposites are found in the Yin and Yang of the Chinese tao.

As a union yoga, Hathat aims at the harmony of the person through physical exercise sessions. In this way, the union of opposites allows spiritual stabilization.

This practice involves all aspects of the human being - physical, mental, and energetic. Through the precise and rhythmic practice of postures through breathing, the practitioner develops a mastery of the body and the senses. This yoga is a real meditation in motion, perfect for letting go.

The postures of Hatha yoga have as their goal the tranquility of the body and mind. In other words, the purpose of this technique is the awakening of the mind via precise asanas. During a Hatha yoga routine, you will try to take control of your energy and mind through the control and flexibility of the body. Hatha yoga also relies on pranayama (breath technique) and meditation.

The benefits of such a practice are numerous both in physical and mental aspects, such as: reduction of back pain, relaxation of the body, oxygenation of the brain through breathing, improvement of blood pressure, improved stress management, reduction of sleep disorders, and intense mental relaxation.

Yin yoga, a gentle practice to release tension

You'll also practice passive and gentle yoga focused on feeling and self-awareness. It will be a moment when you let go to return to yourself, to your body, and to your mind. This method from Chinese medicine helps to release accumulated physical and mental tensions so that the energies can circulate freely.

Yin is a slow yoga with multiple benefits for the mental and physical aspects. Accessible to everyone, it is a mixture of yoga and meditation which allows you to relax deeply.

What is Yin yoga?

Popularized by Paul Grilley in the 90s, Yin yoga is a gentle yoga. It is a style of yoga inspired by Taoist thought and Chinese medicine, with Yin representing stillness and Yang representing movement. Yin yoga helps to slow down in its meditative approach. Unlike most other yogas, practitioners do not want to strengthen muscles but to relax them by nourishing the facias.

By remaining still, you will improve communication with yourself by accepting emotions and sensations when you hold stable and comfortable postures. This is yoga that is becoming trendy due to the great need to slow down in a society that does not allow rest.

The benefits of Yin yoga

You will strengthen the tendons, joints, and ligaments, and therefore flexibility. By maintaining the postures, you will circulate the energies according to the principles of Chinese medicine and learn to listen to yourself in stillness, like meditation.

The goal of this beautiful practice is to develop full self-awareness and self-healing. Even if it is not always easy to clear your mind during the session, you will let your thoughts flow without judging and calm will settle in naturally.

How to practice Yin yoga?

You will practice different postures, depending on the desired effect (detox, anti-stress, lower back pain relief, etc.), which you will hold for between three and five minutes each, or more.

Listen to your body and your needs. To practice Yin yoga well, there are four rules:

  • Completely relax your muscles.
  • Feel (without trying to set a particular intention, as with stretching). Be careful - feeling does not mean suffering. As soon as the slightest pain occurs, you will improve your posture to be better!
  • Stay still.
  • Stay long.

How to practice Yin yoga with Dharmanas Yoga?

In addition to those basic principles stated previously, essential oils are added to help in the relaxation process according to the theme of the session.

Dharmanas Yoga also appreciates supporting you in the acupressure system. It is a method similar to acupuncture which consists of stimulating energy points located on the path of the meridians by massaging them to fluidify the flow of vital energy that circulates in the body.

You will come back recharged with new energy.

Just like other islands, Fuerteventura is also famous for surfing, but also for its many walking trails. Lajares is surrounded by a vast, peaceful volcanic landscape that invites hiking.
