During this retreat, you will be served one daily delicious breakfast and dinner along with a light afternoon menu. All meals are inspired by the oriental and Mediterranean cuisine and are daily fresh cooked. A wide range of vegetarian or vegan food is available. Dfrost Almugarh serves daily different food and chooses from a big variation between healthy, hearty, and sweet treats.

Every evening, a vegetarian dinner is served to make sure you will get enough carbohydrates, vitamins, and proteins to enjoy a healthy week. Once a week, there is the option to get served fish but only will be served if the whole groups accepts to have somebody at the table eating meat.

The dishes depend on the season as the summer is warm and the kitchen is lighter versus the winter. They cook with seasonal products and not everything is available the whole year around.

The Moroccan kitchen barely cooks with dairy products or butter so most of the recipes are even vegan. The Moroccan kitchen is rich in vegetables, chickpeas, beans, and lentils which are also a high source of proteins.

If you need a special diet, due to allergies, please let Dfrost Almugar Surf House & Yoga Morocco know before your arrival in order to take care of you. Not everything is available in Morocco but they promise to do their best to take care of you.

Herbal garden

The herbal garden in the yoga house allows to serve you fresh tea and diches with eco herbs. "Dfrost Almugar Surf House & Yoga was the best yoga retreat ever! Highlight was the amazing fresh healthy vegetarian food! And so much variety! Daily cleaning of rooms and common areas. Great jacuzzi and sauna. Yoga space was so zen! I wanted to surf a couple of the days and this was easy to organize and an efficient pickup and drop off. Made the trip so relaxing."

"The main Dfrost surf and yoga centre is great! It's right above a beach, has an excellent indoor and outdoor communal area with Jacuzzi and barbecue, and an awesome roof terrace for yoga - perfect spot overlooking both sunrise and sunset, with sound of waves breaking in the background! Visiting yoga teacher (Kat) was fantastic, she was teaching a relaxing version of Hatha yoga, which was perfect after a long day of surfing. Morning class was a bit too early for our taste (7-8am) but the afternoon class was spot on, just before dinner (17:30-18:30). Surf instructors were different every day, some better than others, but all were reasonably ok. The vibe in the house was good, most guests were friendly and easy to chat to. The only thing we didn't like was accommodation - we stayed in Mo's studio, which is around 10 min walk up the hill from the main Dfrost centre. The studio itself was ok, it has a nice roof terrace, but we didn't like tracking up and down hill all the time. We highly recommend Dfrost, but only if you get accommodation either in the main centre or immediately next to it."

"This is the second yoga retreat I have done and I absolutely loved it! The villa is clean and well kept, I had a private room with my own bathroom and it was cleaned on a daily basis. The villa is a two minute walk from the beach which is not overloaded with tourists, and locals are very friendly. The food at the retreat is amazing, mostly vegan, and raw friendly - I think I gained weight on this trip because I would always go back for seconds! Breakfast is different and creative every day, with fresh almond nut butters and jams. The sauna and hot tub on the roof have a beautiful view. They also arrange free airport pick-up and drop-off which is so convenient! I can't wait to go back. It is a great value retreat and I would highly recommend it!"

"I have visited Dfrost Almugar Surf House 3 times in as many months this year - when I first tell people this they think I'm crazy but really I'm just very lucky, very happy and very tanned! As soon as you spend some time in Tagazhout with the guys at Dfrost you will understand why I keep coming back. Each time I have traveled by myself and spent the week doing surf and yoga, each week has been brilliant and I come home with new friends, new skills and great memories. From the moment I get picked up from the airport to"

"the moment I'm dropped off again I have a huge grin on my face - the place is perfect and everybody who works there wants you to have a great time."

"Firstly, the house itself is great and really starts to feel like a home from home, you feel so comfortable just hanging out and relaxing with the other guests and hosts. The dorm rooms are really nice and clean and I loved waking up with a view of the ocean. Its so nice to eat your breakfast out on the terrace in the sunshine and watching the waves."

"Which brings me on to the food which is so good! I'm gluten intolerant and chef Mo always made sure there was something tasty I could eat at breakfast and dinner, they even provided a lunch box so I could take a salad to the beach. "

"Secondly, the surfing! Its bloody brilliant, each of the surf instructors is great and you can really feel like they want you to have a good time on the waves. I was lucky that my first lesson was with Abdrahim who is really patient and will keep you laughing even if you keep falling off! Since then I have been taught by all the instructors and I've really enjoyed picking up tips from them all and improving. They make each day so much run and really look after the guests. "

"Finally, the yoga! Such a perfect companion to a day of surfing, this time I managed to wake up every morning in time to do yoga twice a day. I cannot recommend it enough! It puts you in such a good mood to start the day and stretching out in the afternoon meant I never had aches and pains from surfing all day. Claudia was a fantastic teacher and really helped me improve my strength and flexibility."

"If you are considering a surf trip or a visit to Tagazhout book yourself in for a stay at Dfrost - come with the aim to have an amazing week and I know you will. Thank me later!"

"Room Tip: The downstairs dorm room has great views on to the ocean and you don't get disturbed by the noise."

"I stayed at Villa Surya- the yoga villa, and joined the surfing crowd from the surf hostel for 3 days of my trip. I thought the day schedule was perfect- I loved waking up to morning tea and a 90 minute yoga session followed by a lazy healthy breakfast. Joining the surf crowd at 11 or so was enough surfing for me- after 3 hours as a beginner you are tired anyway, and it was a great way to see some other beaches and meet some other people. The surf instructors were excellent and very patient. Most people could surf a little in a couple of days."

"Then home for a delicious afternoon tea, before a sunset 90 minute yoga session followed by dinner. The day is very relaxing... after dinner either a massage, hot tub and sauna, or reading on a sofa. A short trip to taghazout is also possible but I didn't do this.."

"The yoga classes at the villa are more in depth than the ones at the surf house and the yoga sala is a lot nicer- it has a roof, and many windows to open up to let a sea breeze in and has sea and mountain views. Although the surf house is right by the sea so the yoga sala has great views it only has some shade provided by wooden slats overhead so can get really hot I'm told. Both Bruce and Steve gave wonderful yoga classes and really stretched my hips! I am missing my daily classes now."

"Everyone else in the yoga villa were there to really relax and not do much surfing but this was not a problem- I was picked up every day I wanted to surf at the door and taken to the surf spot."

"The two Thai massages I had in the evening at the villa by Bruce were lovely- I suggest you pay for an extra one as the masseur knows your body a bit by then and what areas to work on."

"The beach 10 minutes walk below the villa is golden sand, big and wide but the village has very little to offer in dining- better to get a cab to Taghazout for that. I ate twice at Surf berbere in Taghazout- right above the rocks on the beach and beautiful place to watch the sunset. Full of Moroccans on holiday and also has many women there too, which the local cafes in the village do not."

"I had driven myself from Marrakech and enjoyed the freedom it gave me to drive to Paradise Valley, Agadir and Essaouira by myself. Essaouira is beautiful and I recommend a visit if you have the opportunity- far more relaxed and easier to visit with a beautiful seaside drive than Marrakech. Essaouira has a lovely Medina too. Roads in Morocco are fine if you are thinking about driving but the Hertz hire desk in Marrakech airport takes ages to process anyone and I waited 90 minutes to get my pre-booked car, late in the evening of my arrival, which I could have done without! All other car hire firms had no-one at their desks- so perhaps choose another firm than Hertz to book with- they did offer the best price though."

"Overall I had a fabulous time in Morocco and will definitely return to Villa Surya, although i think it was a special holiday due to the presence of Bruce and Steve on this trip."

The surf coaches were fantastic really great teachers, really patient and attentive and the classes were small. The yoga too was excellent, the mostbeautiful yoga room imaginable and with the first classat 07:00 a.m. it was the perfect way to start the day. The hosts were really friendly and eager to help all the time. The food was always great and over all the level of professionalism was the best I have experienced, within two days I felt part of a really cool community. I will absolutely be back."

"I stayed at the Villa Surya which was set back from the beach and was a very beautiful and relaxed villa. The yoga shala on the roof enabled us to look out over the rooftops and to the beach during classes. Teaching was varied. The villa was exceptionally clean and the courtyard at the rear is a good place to read and relax. The highlight was the amazing food, beautifully and carefully prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed my break and felt relaxed and centered after a week at the villa. I hope to return in the near future."

I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a yoga retreat holiday. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless, the beds are amazingly comfortable, and the food is out of this world. Although the yoga was very different to the type I am used to, I enjoyed every class and came home with a slightly different approach to my own practice. I continue to 'call on the light within'."

I was quite nervous about travelling solo for the first time but all of the guests were so friendly and the hosts, Aika and Kate were so welcoming when we arrived from the airport. The food was cooked beautifully, and the chef, Hassain, was so happy and friendly! Really good vibes throughout the whole villa. "

"Surfing was great and it was organised so well that you really didn't have to worry a bout anything! Everything was included, picked up from the Villa and dropped off at the end of the day. Such a stress free and relaxing holiday - I really can't wait to return! Be aware that shared rooms are mixed gender. Personally, I would not book a shared room again."

"It was my best holiday time. Simply I felt like at home!!! Very nice and cozy rooms, fantastic food that are fresh and tasty prepared by Hassan and his wife, fantastic host Katie - very helpful and friendly. The house is in Moroccan style with patio and stylish interior. The yoga teachers were very professional and I learnt a lot from them. The yoga house is beautifully located in a village Taghazout with amazing beach that is perfect for long and relaxing walks or just lying with a book and listening to the ocean. That was exactly what I was looking for - nice people, good yoga classes, beautiful nature, no pressure, just friendly atmosphere, but everything is perfectly organized. They have good internet and Whatsapp connection as well. I can strongly recommend this fantastic place to yoga lovers and also people who want to spend vacation off the bitten trucks. Thank you Loredana and Mohammed! I will be back - good luck to both of you!"

"Dfrost Almugar Surf House & Yoga Morocco is a fantastic place to stay if you want to combine yoga and surfing or only want to practice one or the other. Given the standards of North African holidaying generally the surf house and associated apartments are of a much higher standard than some of the more rural mountain accommodation I have stayed in, which have tended to be basic. However it is maybe not as the plush as the more up market city hotel in Morocco. That aside it is a very comfortable and welcoming environment, where the staff do their utmost to create a unique and inclusive vibe that is relaxed and family friendly. With such a diversity and flow of visitors from around the world it is certainly a tantalizing and exotic retreat to chill, meet new people, and experience some of what Morocco has to offer the adventuring surfer and yogi. Morning yoga starts at 7 to 8 am followed by breakfast. At 9 am the surf safari leaves to find the best waves and thereafter the lessons commence. After a day out on the waves, if you want you can take an hour of restorative yoga at 5.30 - 6.30 pm. Dinner follows at 7 pm and then you can relax on the terrace with a beer or a bottle of wine, enjoy a reinvigorating soak in the hot tub jacuzzi, or perhaps take a stroll into the village before bed. If you fancy the team offers the opportunity to take day trips to Essaouira, Marrakech, or Paradise Valley. You could also explore Agadir, experience a Hamam or have a massage locally as well. All these are extras though, and will be added to your bar tab; to be settled before departure. The food is superb, varied, and plentiful, with the kitchen team working hard to cater for everyone whilst mixing continental and Moroccan cuisine and accommodating most dietary requirements. Personally I found the cost very reasonable and the trip was easily organised. This means I will not look else where for future trips of this kind. Finally, I'd personally like to say a big thank you to Mo, Loredana, and their team for an amazing experience, and some wonderful memories. I can't wait to return. "

"I loved my stay at Villa Surya and I felt amazing after my stay. The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough to help, the rooms were comfortable with good beds and showers and the food was absolutely delicious. There was plenty to do in the area, the yoga was very good, and the beach was gorgeous too. Plus the other guests were all lovely so there was a very calm and relaxed vibe. If I had to criticize, I would say that a bit more storage - and more hooks - in the bedrooms would be useful and the yoga shala was cramped when the house was full. But overall it was a fantastic week and it was also great value for money. Thank you to everyone who made my stay so special."

"I loved my stay at Villa Surya and I felt amazing after my week. The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough to help, the rooms were comfortable with good beds and showers and the food was absolutely delicious. There was plenty to do in the area, the yoga was very good and the beach was gorgeous too. Plus the other guests were all lovely so there was a very calm and relaxed vibe. If I had to criticize, I would say that a bit more storage and more hooks in the bedrooms would be useful and the yoga shala was cramped when the house was full. But over all it was a fantastic week and it was also great value for money. Thank you to everyone who made my stay so special."

"Just finished an epic ten days of surf and yoga at Dfrost, The most difficult part was saying goodbye, I traveled solo and through Dfrost have meet some amazing friends, I cannot wait to return again. It was an authentic Moroccan surf / yoga experience and it is a reflection of the hardworking team at Dfrost. The hosts are always there to help and ensure you having a great time no matter what the surf conditions were like. Each day is carefully planned all you have to do is follow the ride. I loved the traditional food especially the homemade almond butter at breakfast! The talented surf instructors are one of a kind, they are committed to improving on your surf technique and each contributing something fun to the lessons. And of course Mo who is always there at the right time for another beer or vino! Thanks Loredana and Mo, you really have a dedicated Moroccan family at your hostel who have given me so many incredible memories. As Kelly Slater once said "It's like the mafia. Once you're in - your in. There's no getting out." And now I am definitely hooked on surfing from this experience."

"I can only confirm that all the positive reviews I read were true :) Delicious food, good atmosphere, clean rooms, experienced yoga teachers, ... The 2 girls hosting the villa gave me the warmest welcome ever and the staff was so nice, always smiling and ready to help the guests. Those 7 days went by so fast! On the last evening I realised it was the first time I had some time on my own, but that wasn't even a bad thing. Just sitting in the jaccuzi and watching the stars, it could be worse. The other guests were all so relaxed, fun, and enjoying the moment. I guess this is always the case, since everybody is there for the same reason, but the great atmosphere made it easy to stay in this (full) house and still feel completely relaxed. I went to Paradise Valley for a day, which was great! I definitely recommend going there. (Unfortunately the trip to Essouira was cancelled as there weren't enough people who wanted to go). The only remarks I have are the lack of storage space in the rooms, and size of the yoga studio. I shared a room with 2 other women, and then it would be nicer to have a cupboard or some shelves above the beds instead of 3 decorative shelves. During most of the days of my stay, the house was fully booked, and if everybody attended the yoga class, there just wasn't enough space. This trip was just what I needed and I had an amazing time. "Dfrost had the best package to offer: great location, surfari, airport pick up & drop off if needed, dinner, yoga classes. Booking procedure was really easy (we decided only few days earlier to our arrival) and our questions were answered quickly in a very competent way. Dfrost Almugar, the best choice!"

"We had our private budget room in a house just next to the main Dfrost Surf House in a private apartment which contained another sleeping room, kitchen, living room and had its own balcony with an great view onto the ocean. The apartment was very clean, as well as the rest of the main house. Day by day we could decide if we wanted to add a delicious dinner or yoga classes, that we appreciated very much. (Check out the cute village and its restaurants as well.) If there were any questions the hosts were always there to help us. Special thanks to Emmi, Sander, and Nina. You’re truly amazing!"

"We loved the surf, there are many nice surf spots, lovely beaches and with the help of the superb surf instructors my friend and I quickly improved our surfing skills. Anyway, the guys are a lot of fun. We had a blast!"

"Staying in Taghazout was probably one of the best vacations we both had. There was an exceptional good vibe in the surf house, all the guests were really nice and enjoyed it as much as we did. And don’t miss the real Hammam experience. Tanmirt to the crew for making us feel at home! We are definitely coming back."

"During the day I went with the surf instructors on surf-safari. Every day they take you to the surfs pot with the best waves suitable for the level of your surfing. I took a few lessons and got some really good advice on how to improve my surfing."

"If you rent a board and wet suit at the surf house you can use it all day long so you can surf whenever you want."

"In the evening you can chill at the surf house in the hot tub, or you can play games or make music with the other guests and/or the hosts. The vibe of the surf house is really relaxing and worry-free."

"The food at the surf house is really good. Breakfast is very extensive and at breakfast you can make yourself a lunch packet to take with you on surf safari. I also had dinner included and that was a good choice. All the dinners they provided were delicious."

"When I arrived I thought, "wow"! There were 7 other guests and it felt like being at home. We all had dinner round a big table and it was delicious. But for the remainder of the week the house was full (14 guests in total) plus there were up to 4 people staying in studios across the road. It just felt too cramped - both in the house where we had meals on our knees and in the yoga shala where it was a definite squeeze. Also, the "roof terrace" is a bit of a misnomer" - there is not much space up there for sunbathing. But it's a great location and there is a whole beach to sunbathe on. The host, Aika, is an absolute gem and Hassan, the cook, apart from producing great food was always smiling. And the place attracts really lovely guests. One thing that I really think needs fixed is the brick floor in the yoga shala - a few of us were complaining of sore backs and I certainly came back with a bit of lower back pain - quite possibly because towards the end it got a bit colder so the floor hadn't had a chance to heat up. A wooden floor would make it a lot better. In terms of sleep I would recommend avoiding the ground floor. My bedroom (shems) was on the ground floor and was noisy even although people tend to go to bed early there is always some coming and going. It was a shared room and was extremely small with only three swinging shelves for storage. The bathroom was not en-suite and was off the main area which meant that it effectively became a communal shared bathroom (at least for the toilet and sink) for everyone."

"I had a perfect week at Dfrost! The people, the location, the atmosphere, the other guests, Morocco and the Atlantic - food for the soul. I booked an all inclusive Surf and Treat package which included accommodation in a private room, all meals, 5 surf lessons, a trip to Marrakesh, and 14 yoga lessons (doing all of this was probably wishful thinking on my part! Good intentions eh. You can certainly save money by choosing another deal and then adding as you wish, but all that came to about 650 (can't go wrong). I was picked up at Agadir airport by one of the owners Mo, a very friendly guy. All the staff have a wonderful way about them; professional / friend-like / chilled out. The surf instructors are great fun and very good teachers. There is no fixed start and end to the activities, different people showed up and simply blended into the rhythm of activities hassle free. I did get up super early to enjoy a sunrise yoga flow. Beautiful! The sunset yoga was even more beautiful. The vibe is very international, plenty of opportunity to hang out and make new friends on the terrace and in the village of Taghazout, which is like a Moroccan surf magnet, very laid back. The food was good and there was always enough. There was some beer in the fridge but of course this is Morocco and you are there to move your body. Of course this is a surf camp, you can get lessons everyday if you are a beginner like me, but there are seasoned surfers from all over the world who were there too. They went in a different group to tougher locations. But at the end of the day everybody feels like they are part of the one tribe. No competition whatsoever. I tried a bit too hard and ended up hurting my ribs, my own impatience, and so I missed one day of surfing and a trip to Marrakesh. If you are generally unfit - take it slow! I did however join a trip to Paradise Valley which was stunning. I missed out on the more physical activities but to be honest I was just happy to be there, long walks on quiet beaches and time to think. The one thing I did find difficult - the bed was too hard in my room! This is not a 5 star hotel. This is not boot camp. It is a place to feel alive. I will return for sure."

"I spent an amazing week at Villa Surya. Villa Surya, located in the small fishing village of Imi Ouaddar, with stunning beach views from the roof top terrace is the perfect place for a yoga retreat. The house is quietly and efficiently run by the friendly hosts and staff to ensure guests have the most relaxing and stimulating experience. The twice daily yoga sessions, while entirely optional were great ways to start and end the day. The gourmet vegetarian food was amazing and it was wonderful to share these meals with other guests in the garden courtyard. Tea, fruit and other treats were always available. Accommodation was lovely, and the cosy salons, courtyards and roof terrace were beautiful places to relax and enjoy the warm sunshine. Beautiful weather and long beach walks, with the options for swimming and surfing, also make the villa a wonderful location for everyone. The whole experience, with pick ups and drop offs at bus station and airport included in the price make it great for solo travelers."

It is at very small town and not much to do except from relaxing, and I was the only one more than 31 years old. (I am 54) - so I missed people at my age. But surely I had a wonderful time and still feel very relaxed and vital. Thank you very much!"

Many different beaches, for both beginners and advanced and good instructors that really the attention to take you! Besides surfing, Dfrost also offers a variety of excursions to places like Marrakech, Paradise Valley and a visit to a hammam. This means that there is also enough for the non-surfers to do. "Really accommodating place! I wasn't surfing but came here to share the trip with my boyfriend. I bought the surf safari package and went to the beaches with the surfers. I relaxed on the beach while people had lessons/surfed solo. I felt a part of the group which was really nice. There were also two families with babies there which was lovely as it showed everyone was welcome here. Everyone (staff and guests) were all friendly and welcoming. Dinner, breakfast and lunch was delicious was a great choice of things in the morning and different fillings for sandwiches for lunch. The terrace is great to sit on in the evenings and have dinner/chill out with everyone. The hosts arranged a taxi so 3 of us could go to Paradise Valley which was well worth it! The surf instructors were very nice to bring us back early for this trip. Our room was a standard room with great sea/terrace views. You can wake up and go to sleep listening to the waves if you sleep with the balcony doors open. We needed to as there was no air conditioning or fan. The balcony was shared with a small dorm room next door but everyone is very trusting here and it would be a horrible environment if you couldn't feel you could trust your neighbors. The shared bathroom was fine, no problems- I was originally a bit worried about this but there was lots of choice and a bathroom was right next door to us. Ventilation in the toilets/bathrooms and something to dry your hands on (instead of bringing your own towel each time) would be useful but everything was fine otherwise. The surfboard selection was very good and my boyfriend got to try a few boards. Emily our host was very friendly and sat with different groups in the evening. We tried the restorative yoga which was on the terrace at sunset. This was very relaxing! All in all a great trip!"

To start with, it was the best value for money that we could find compared to other countries. The yoga house is away from the city, but they pick you up from the airport and bring you there. The place is just wonderful: it's colorful, artsy, with a beautiful view of the beach, which is actually three to five minutes walk from the house. The house is quiet and the company was wonderful, they were very helpful all the way. The most amazing part was also the food: breakfast and dinner included, there was a variety of delicious veggies, fruits, and Moroccan meals - it was one of the most awaited events of the day. And finally the yoga teachers, we had two, and they were a perfect combination: one was more calm and slow, and the second one was more energetic. So, by the end of the week all of us were more flexible and stronger, but we didn't overwork ourselves.I few things to be aware of as it came to us as a surprise. First, Dfrost Almugar Surf House & Yoga Morocco has a yoga house and a surfing house. The beach by the surfing house is actually much nicer, but the house itself is not suitable if you're looking for a pure yoga retreat. So, it's a trade off. You can join the other house for surfing any day, but the other house can't join this one for yoga, which gives some nice privacy. And second, be prepared that Morocco is very hot, the city is not close, and it can be a bit trashed in the city, or at the start of the beach. So, this is why we chose not to travel to the city for shopping or sightseeing, but just stayed in our piece of paradise at Dfrost Almugar Surf House & Yoga Morocco. All this should not divert you from picking this great place, just be aware of these peculiarities of Morocco."

"I was apprehensive at first when heading off to a new country, in a different continent by myself - imagining big groups or people couple off. What I turned up to was a hot meal and introductions to a big group of people socializing on the balcony - either in couples or by themselves - but everyone social, welcoming and there for the same thing. Over the week I got to know some great people, the hosts were lovely and eager to entertain. The instructors - both surf and yoga - were genuine, really nice, and super talented at their crafts. The food was awesome, the location picture perfect, the September sun baking, and the culture wonderful. The only heads up is that there was a bit of a bug going around, but just a 24-hour thing. It was more a group talking point than impactful though - and hasn't spoilt my memories of such an awesome week."

"I loved everything: hotel, food, staff, surf, and yoga instructors (very patient!), the view from the hotel, even the other guests, all from different ages, singles, and couples. The atmosphere was really good. They also offer good excursions, I went to Paradise Valley which is lovely (the driver is very patient too), and if you go for surfing you are able to see different beaches as well. The yoga class is really good and even better on that terrace with view to the sea, just seeing the sunrise while doing yoga was amazing. I went there on my own without knowing anything about the place and surfing and I liked both. Best of all, I never felt alone and enjoyed every single minute. I would definitely go again, The only thing that was different was the room they assigned to me but at the end was better cause I got a room in one of the apartments (just beside the main house) and I got a balcony, living room, plus kitchen, so I cant complain actually, since Id booked only a single room. I super recommend going there!"

Mo the guy that runs the show is great at making things happen, the surf instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly patient. The yoga instructors were excellent and unique in their own ways. My girlfriend and I stayed in the studio apartment in town which is a five minutes walk from the surf house and perfect if you want to do your own thing a little more in the evenings. Awesome views, great food, and quality equipment. Will go back."

Even though I traveled alone, the hosts and other guests made me feel like one of the team immediately and were very open and friendly. Shade, the yoga teacher was very sweet and helpful if you need any additional guidance or want to improve your yoga skills. In the mornings you have Vinyasa yoga, which wakes you up and helps to warm up your body and prepare for a day of surfing. The restorative yoga in the evenings is perfect way to relax your body and stretch the muscles. The best part is the roof terrace with great view over the ocean!Surf instructors were very keen to help you and are there for you the whole morning and afternoon. oh, and if you dont feel like surfing, you can grab a SUP board! All provided by the Dfrost team. The surf house is simple but really beautifully decorated and has an amazing chilled atmosphere! The guys then take you to wherever the best surf is for the day, each spot that we visited was great and just a short distance away. We usually spent our evenings chilling on the terrace over a few drinks. The terrace is a great spot to just chill out and listen to the sea or the tunes playing from the speaker system or go for a relaxing dip in the hot tub. Dfrost also organize trips on certain days to a local hammam, Paradise Valley, etc which are worth checking out. Can't wait to return to this place and stay for longer next time!"

"Our trip to Morocco was topped off with a stay in Dfrost Surf House & Yoga Morocco and our only regret was that we didn't stay here for longer. The rooms are fine and basic/comfy enough, but it's the charm of the whole place that gets you. There is a lovely terrace with a super comfy seating area that you can chill on for as long as you wish. There's a Jacuzzi that can be used at any time that overlooks the ocean, so you can have a great view while you relax with a 'soda' or 'french fizz' in hand. The breakfast was delicious and super filling, and you could then make some lunch up for your day of surfing. There's an option for dinner too but we missed it most evenings. The staff was so helpful and (like everywhere else we stayed in Morocco) they really make you feel like it's your home they are working in. Olivia and Amely were the hosts while we were there and needless to say they were so friendly and accommodating. Olivia was the night host during our stay and we had a good laugh with her in the evenings. The surf instructors were also great, and they were often around the place in the evenings too to socialize. The music they pumped out was always delightful too and got me in a buzzy mood every time. Taghazout itself it a bit odd and tiny, but the beaches and my experience in this surf house made me want to come back here for every holiday. Which I definitely will!"

"We spent three nights here in July. The surf house is as clean and lovely as it looks in the picture, but I'd say it is a surf house with added yoga classes and not a yoga retreat with added surfing. The yoga teacher was absolutely lovely. Morning yoga was based on Ashtanga and the evening was a Restorative yoga. I had no idea how tough holding poses for five minutes at a time could be, but it was amazing. Our experience was a bit mixed, partly owing to poor communication at check in and the fact that we were only there for three days (apparently this is a bit unusual). It is worth knowing that there is no yoga on Thursdays, no dinner on Fridays and that you might end up staying in an apartment a couple of doors down which, although en suite, isn't as lovely or beautiful as the surf house. Surfing also regularly requires a bus ride to the beach and the beautiful view of the sea from the yoga space is rather spoiled by the traffic noise, but I believe we were there in a busy week for the town. The owner of the place dealt with our grumbles really well so overall our experience was positive. It is worth knowing that nowhere in Tagazout takes credit cards and that the nearest cash machine is in Aourir (Banana Village) about eight kilometers away!"

"My experience at the Villa Surya was more than I could have expected. The atmosphere in the house was relaxing and the staff was more than accommodating. It was the staff and the people I met during my stay that made it such a memorable experience. Traveling alone is not unusual in the Villa, and I shared a room with another lone traveler. We got along famously, as did all of the guests and staff present in the house. The yoga was fantastic. Teacher Jesse does a great job of ensuring that people at all levels within the class take something meaningful away from the practice. During the day you are free to do as you please - read, relax, visit the beach - but the villa also plans many great day trips and excursions if you're interested. I tried it all. Surfing, day trips to Paradise Valley and Essaouira (my two favorites), and loved all of it. The food prepared by Hassan was amazing! And Hassan couldn't be nicer! Mealtime was a great chance to sit around with the other guests and villa staff members and have good conversation over delicious food. These are some of my favorite memories from the trip. As a whole, I would highly recommend the Villa Surya to someone looking for a quiet, reflective, healthy yoga holiday. The bonus is the people you will meet along the way. A most satisfied customer."

The local staff was really good from the surf coaches to the kitchen people. Food was quite decent. Hosts Beth and Olivia were supercool and always there in case you had any queries. But the best part was that there were ice-cold beers available even a few days after Ramadan which is difficult to get in many places. "I loved staying at Dfrost! I went there on my own, with the idea to relax, spend time outside of my usual routine, and take the time to read, and I did all that! The daily routine in the Surf Villa, (at least during Ramadan) is as follows: 8 - 9 a.m., Ashtanga yoga with Sade, 9 -10 a.m., Yummy breakfast, 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., surf guiding / surf lessons / surf practice and 5:30 p.m, Restorative yoga with Sade. I think everything is an hour earlier during regular periods (outside of Ramadan). That's the schedule, that doesn't mean you don't get to choose whether you want to chill by the beach or not have a yoga session if you prefer to chill or to get up later that day. Sade is a very kind and caring teacher, who listens to you and takes your needs into account. Thank you Sade! As for the surf, I wasn't even really planning much on that side and wasn't too motivated (I am not really an extreme sports fan). Yet the surf teachers, who are young but professional, managed to get me to stand on the board! I was quite proud and it gave me a boost, well done guys! Most of the teachers are from the area, Taghazout or Agadir, and know their way and their waves really well! They take you to beautiful beaches such as Banana Beach, Anza or my favorite Imssouane Beach. It's a 45-minute ride from Taghazout, but its worth the journey! It reminded me a little of Arugam Bay in Sri Lanka, were the waves are almost perpendicular to the beach. At the Surf House, there are two lovely hosts: Beth and Olivia, who take care of your every needs, and never tired of my incessant questions (and I can be pretty annoying sometimes). Thank you ladies! As for the food, its varied and considering the prices, surprisingly delicious! Fresh, simple yet sophisticated tajines, barbecues, and falafels (depending on the night) for dinners, and always great breakfasts with fresh orange juice! Food is served the same way all year round, there is no difference during Ramadan. It may get a little repetitive if you stay more than a week, but there are also good restaurants around. And by the way, even the chef surfs! All in all, it was a great experience, thank you Mo, for creating such a great value for money! Even the cleaning ladies, who can be quite disgruntled in other places (especially when they are fasting), were smiley and welcoming. The only con I can think of, is that some of the beds can be way too soft (I like hard beds), so if you have back problems, Id recommend you let the hosts or Mo know in advance."

I'm forever changed, this woman has a gift and if you and lucky enough to take her class you will not be disappointed! Even if you don't stay here you can eat, drink (yup they are the only pace in Taghzout where you can buy alcohol), and hangout. I had breakfast once and the popular BBQ dinner - delicious! The guests hangout in the dining / patio area listening to music, among other activities. Super fun. Olivia and Beth are hosts at the Surf House and are complete professionals (not to mention beautiful and hilarious). They will set you up with everything you need to enjoy your stay. "I loved staying at Villa Surya! I only have positive things to say about my stay at Villa Surya. Everything was beyond expectations. The room was beautiful, had my own bathroom, and a balcony with an ocean view. And the room was cleaned every day, so it was nice coming back after a long day at the beach. Waking up every morning with fresh air from the ocean, and listening to the birds sing. Can it be better?I was a bit worried about the vegetarian food, because I normally eat meat. But the food was so good. I didn't miss anything the whole week! If I lived at Villa Surya I would definitely become a vegetarian. I never tried surfing before I came to Morocco. But the surf instructors were great! After just an hour or two I could stand up on my board. Amazing! Had fun surfing every day.It was also my first time trying yoga. The villa had two different yoga teachers, each with different styles of yoga. I loved both of them. But my favorite class had to be Jesse's. He also gives a really good Thai massage. After just one week practicing yoga I feel addicted, and miss the yoga at the villa so much now that I have arrived back home. A big thank you to Loredana and Mo for making my booking and stay such an amazing experience."

"This was absolutely the best holiday of my life! When booking this holiday I was unsure of whether I wanted to stay in the surf house or the yoga villa. This would be the first time I had traveled alone and I wanted to be in a group of like minded people. After many emails back and forth (the communication was excellent) I finally decided on the yoga villa and I am so thrilled I did. Initially I didn't think there was much difference between the yoga villa and the surf house but as the week progressed I noticed quite a few differences. The main differences I noticed were the food in the yoga villa was incredible, of several courses some nights and of an excellent standard. Food was served on the table in the courtyard with everybody sitting around and socializing and getting to know each other. There is nothing that seemed too much trouble for Hassan the cook and care taker. He would often come and bring me kiwis before I left for surfing and checking that I had enough water. I felt very looked after. I couldn't thank him enough for all he did, including pre-empting our late returns and wanting the use of the Jacuzzi or sauna so he would make sure everything was on and heated up and candles lit for the perfect setting. I miss him already! Other differences I noticed were the socializing. In the yoga villa there is a smaller number of people and we all gelled really well. In the surf house, people seemed (to me) to mix with smaller groups they gelled with rather than the whole group (I expect a very natural process) however, I personally loved being a part of the entire group of Surya Villa yogis! We also had beautiful, delicious, long breakfasts after our hour and a half morning yoga sessions, which meant we would be picked up for surfing at 11 a.m. instead of 9.30 a.m. like the surf house. However, there were people within our group who did not surf and instead did their own thing and hired a car and explored Morocco. On our return to the villa after surfing - which was excellent and very well run with excellent and professional surf instructors who actually taught me to surf! - we would be greeted with a beautiful array of dried fruit and nuts and delicious Moroccan mint tea which we would sometimes take on the huge swinging bed in the front courtyard, soaking up the sun. I'm pretty sure the surf house didn't enjoy this luxury. I thoroughly enjoyed coming back to my bedroom being so clean and tidy. I realize how messy I was but the room was always so spotless as well as the bathroom. In fact, the whole villa was superbly clean and tidy always. I stayed in the Itri room so it was slightly cheaper, a pretty, shared room of three beds overlooking the back courtyard. When I arrived there were already two girls in the room. They were brilliant people - lucky perhaps. They left after three days of me being there and I had the room to myself for the rest of my week stay. The yoga at the villa was excellent, an hour and a half in the morning and in the evening before our exquisite dinners. I enjoyed two different styles of yoga and especially gained a lot, emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually through Lauri's more Kundalini style yoga. I also thoroughly enjoyed the massage she gave. I was on my own in the villa for the last day and Lauri made sure my yoga experience with her was truly special. Again, I can't thank her enough.I took two excursions while I was there, Marrakesh and Paradise Valley, both excellent and well worth the money. The hosting of the villa was personal and faultless. I was made to feel very special. Thank you Lordana and Mo so much. If you are thinking about which Moroccan yoga surf holiday to choose I would 100% recommend Villa Surya without a doubt especially if you're travelling alone and especially if you're travelling alone for the first time like me, you are made to feel very taken care of and looked after. Thanks to all at Dfrost Almugar Surf House."

"I spent a week at the yoga villa and had the most wonderful stay. The hosts and staff Niama and Hassan were just lovely, made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. I shared a room in the Shems, had it to myself for half the week as the villa wasn't full. Rooms were really clean and comfortable with a private shower. There are two yoga teachers at the villa - expect very different styles! One teaches Kundalini, the other is more like advanced Hatha style. I enjoyed both. The yoga studio is at the top of the villa so perfect for watching the sunrise and set. You can surf everyday if you want, they pick you up at 11 a.m. and take you to wherever the best waves are. You can do excursions too, or you can simply chill at the villa and soak up the Moroccan sun! Food was great, mainly veggie although you can ask for fish or meat. Breakfast is delicious, try the amnou made at the villa, I'm now addicted! I'd highly recommend the villa for a yoga holiday and can't praise it enough really. Will definitely go back."

"We stayed in Villa Surya for one week in February 2015. The pick up from the airport was great! The villa is very welcoming and so are the hosts. Laid back attitude, you can really do whatever you want - if you want to skip a yoga class you can, if you want to surf they come and get you...everything is possible! We didn't skip one yoga class because we are kind of addicted to Kundalini yoga and at that moment, yoga teacher Rupert was in the villa who is a Kundalini teacher so it couldn't have been better for us.In the evening, you can get in the hot tub or sauna or just relax. We were here as a couple but all the others came alone. It's a really good place and very safe if you're coming alone. The people are very nice and friendly. The food was excellent! In the morning and evening the food is so good, you'll overeat, I guarantee. The surf teachers are great too. We never surfed before and at the end of the week we could stand up due to the great lessons. We've had a wonderful trip and met some great new friends! "

"Wonderful stay with lovely food.I stayed in Villa Surya for one week in January. The villa is located in a small village, close to Taghazout and has an amazing view of the sea. I had a warm welcome from the host, the yoga teacher and the other guests when I arrived. I was happy there were some more guests, because I think I wouldnt appreciate it that much if I was all by myself. Lots of people work in the villa to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You are really well taken care of.The food is very good with lots of variety. For me, it being all vegetarian was really nice, and if you want some meat or fish, that is also possible. I loved the nice talks with everybody after dinner, where the hosts and the yoga teacher also joined, so you really get to know each other. If you want to go somewhere, everybody is very helpful to give you some ideas or to help you arrange something. I also tried some surfing, which I was not very good at, but still enjoyed it because the surf teachers really try to help you learn it.The only thing which was a little disappointing for me was the yoga, which was essentially what I came for. The yoga taught in the house was Kundalini which was completely different from the type which was presented on the website which was Vinyasa flow, and on which I based my choice for a yoga holiday. The teacher tried to mix the yoga classes so that it was more general than one specific type, so that was nice, but I still felt like I probably would have chosen differently if I had known the type of yoga before. Overall, I had a really nice stay with lovely friendly people, very good food, nice surfing classes, great weather, and a very inspiring and calm environment."

"I can definitely say that I just had one of the best holidays in my life at Dfrost! I had some time off in January and none of my friends were able to go on holiday. Going on surfing holiday was quite a spontaneous decision and I couldn't have chosen better! It was a lot of fun. I've met tones of great people (single travelers, couples, group of friends, and hardcore surfers who come there every year). I've learned the basics of surfing, lost a couple of kilos, and just had an awesome time. The place is located on the shore of the sea so you wake up to the sounds of the ocean and then you can watch the sunrise while having breakfast. The rooms were clean and nice (although I didn't spend much time there). The teachers were great (it took me a while to get it, but the teachers were always encouraging and supportive). We went to quite a few different beaches. In the evening, people all hang out together on the terrace or go for dinner somewhere. The vibe in general is just very chilled and relaxed. I also did some yoga and yoga teachers were awesome as well. In general, staff at Dfrost is very nice, helpful and friendly. I think you really get the value for money and I couldn't recommend this place more!"

"My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Villa Surya for a yoga retreat during New Year's 2014-2015. It's located right on the beach and even though there are several residences and a luxury hotel in front of it, sunset views over the ocean from the open roof of the villa are completely unspoiled. The retreat itself consisted of a very good value package that included accommodation in clean, modern, charming rooms with lovely breakfast, yummy dinner, tea and juice throughout the day and of course two 1.5-hour sessions of expertly-taught yoga by friendly, loving teachers. The villa itself is built to modern standards in a rustic style with a nice terraced area with tables and lounging sofas. While the east-facing terrace doesn't get a lot of sunlight, the roof of the villa more than makes up for it with a 360-degree windowed and heated zen space for practice and an outside Jacuzzi with a Finnish-sauna that is accessible practically all day long. The activities offered are varied and include hiking or city day trips, local hammams, and surfing classes. It's not the easiest place to get to, as it is in a small settlement built around a 5-star hotel and a camping ground. Across the villa there is a small traditional restaurant serving tagine and grilled fish with an ocean view balcony. Although they charge tourist prices, but with nothing other than a couple of convenience stores and a massive water park, this place is very much catered to tourism. The beaches are not unspoiled, as debris and rubbish is quite commonly found around dilapidated buildings interspersed in between tourist lodging but the entire coastline is still mostly untouched by mass-development. The villa is a good 15-minute taxi/bus-ride away from Taghazout, a village where the main surf house, shops and restaurants are located, so that's an ideal day trip. Villa Surya is a new place, having only existed for about six months and it is the ideal retreat for anyone remotely interested in yoga or Morocco, but some things are clearly still in development. There are only plastic drinking water bottles on offer, whereas a filtered water fountain would be ideal. Also, deck chairs and other loungers in the sunny areas or to take down to the beach might have been a nice addition. The food was very good overall, but it is not what some yogis might expect. It is all vegetarian, with fish or meat only as an option for anyone who asks in advance, but not Ayurvedic or vegan. Not being able to eat completely vegan is disappointing, as there weren't any non-animal protein sources as breakfast served supermarket cheese slices and hard-boiled eggs, and the delicious smoothies all had UHT cow's milk in them. There were barely any beans- and pulses-based meals served. If you wanted to be strict in your diet, you could only really eat vegetables and rice or pasta which isn't adequate nutrition when training for 3 hours a day or if you have food intolerance. There didn't seem to be many "nuts and local food" which was advertised on the website apart from the exquisite locally-made Amlou and un-seasonal produce like lettuce and tomato salads were served quite often. This was all raised at one point by a fellow retreater and to the cook's and the organizers' credit, the next day saw nuts and a sublime lentil stew being served! The organizers made every effort to address everyone's concern as promptly and kindly as possible, even though it doesn't seem that there is a cohesive plan or philosophy in place as of yet. Overall the experience of the yoga retreat at Villa Surya was amazing and I can only recommend it highly to everyone."

"We spent one week at Dfrost Surf House doing the surf and yoga package in January. The location was perfect, it was near the beach, a walking distance from the restaurants and shops. The breakfast is good and varies everyday (but you have to be on time for it as you will also have to prepare your lunch package). We loved the Sunday BBQ and the trip to Paradise Valley. We met a lot of friendly and relaxed people, the surf instructors and staff were also nice and we got to see many different beaches during one week, which was great. Being just beginners, we found the surf instructors professional and they also gave personal feedback. One day we could combine the surfing with going to the souk in Agadir, which gave us the opportunity to discover the region a bit. We were slightly disappointed by the Hatha yoga teacher, who offered a more meditative kind of yoga, but she was only temporarily hired. Apart from that, doing yoga on the rooftop with a view over the ocean was quite nice. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it."

"Great location, atmosphere, staff, organization, as well as the food which is excellent! It felt more like sharing a home with friends. If booking a private twin room though, make sure that it is private! Otherwise you will end up in an apartment where you will have to share the bathroom. And, even though it presents itself as a hostel, the price is not that of a hostel. Costs are actually closer to those of a resort. The daily proposed activities are plenty and varied: surf, yoga, horse riding, hammam, daily excursions etc. Overall, a great place to "dfrost" and relax. Would love to return!"

"Have been here twice now. What I like about this place is the relaxed atmosphere by common trust. So things are arranged well but you can feel as if the surf house is a holiday apartment you rented only with friends. Don't bother to ask anyone for help, or surf instructions: everybody likes to help. If I have to think of a con, it could be the cook that left in the same week, whom was making greater food than the good food that is already being served."

"It was exactly what I was looking for, a house full of travelers ready to go surf. There was a daily surf safari that would take you to the optimal surf break on that day. There was a beginners group and an advanced group, so everyone can find their wave. The equipment they rent out is in good condition too. The house was clean, the food was good and the staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a true surf trip."

"Stayed for a short week, great service, great crew, great food! I was enjoying the surf a lot! Made my holiday awesome. Will definitely come back to Dfrost sometime, probably next winter. Not a problem at all to go here solo by the way, you'll meet fun people very quickly."

"We had a pleasant one-week stay at the yoga villa. Good long yoga sessions (sometimes a bit crowded in the yoga room), delicious healthy food, whirlpool and sauna at the roof terrace, and a beautiful beach nearby. It is a calm area with no real shops around. At a hotel nearby, you can have drinks by the pool. Nice beds, nice staff, great massages, interesting people, and very good communication beforehand. We felt totally relaxed after this week, thank you!"

"I had a wonderful time at the Dfrost Surf House. All the staff I was chatting to on the lead-up to my trip was very helpful. The drivers, surf / yoga instructors, and hosts in the house were lovely and really showed a great time in Morocco. I really enjoyed the surfing and food. All of the other visitors staying at the house will definitely be back!"

"As two best friends on a bucket list surfing adventure, we could not have picked a better place than the Dfrost surf house. We totally loved the whole experience. The house is great and beautifully located, the food really tasty, and the complete staff of drivers, hosts and surf teachers is amazing. They were all really nice, fun, and helpful. The surfing was oh so hard, but oh so cool and fun. Besides the surfing it's a great spot to make new friends too! A great place to come back for sure!"

"I've been at the Dfrost house for a couple of times now and always have troubles going back home. It's a beautiful house in a lovely little village, with the best view over the sea and the waves. Although I traveled by myself, you meet lots of nice people, most of them also coming back all the time. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. There's always someone around to help or just to hang out with. The atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back, as you might expect between surfers. Breakfast and dinner are pretty good (join the Sunday barbecue if you can!), but there are also a couple of nice restaurants nearby. The surfing is the best part for me as a beginner, but from what I've heard, also for advanced surfers. The teachers are fun and they try their best to get you on your board. Lessons are in the morning, depending on your level, and in the afternoon you can go practice on your own, with your new friends or just relax on the beach. If you are looking for a surfers' holiday in Morocco, just choose Dfrost!"

"I've been here four times in one year already and it doesn't get boring. Spending your holiday here will make your days look like this: wake up with the sounds of the ocean, follow a yoga session, have a big and healthy breakfast, make your lunch, listen to chill music in the minivan while they are looking for the best surf spot, have lessons from the friendly and fun surf teachers, chill on the beach in the afternoon, leave to the house around 4 p.m., chill on the balcony or take a look in the many surf shops in town, enjoy the lovely dinner and chill in the Jacuzzi. The balcony and living room are perfect to read a book or listen to music, and there is also always someone to talk with if you want to. All these assets, together with the lovely hosts Nathalie, Selma, and Beth, will make you feel at home!"
