La Rosa dei 4 Venti is not a hotel; it’s a unique, comfortable, family-run specialist destination that focuses on yoga holidays. This 15-hectare property is situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italy’s boot (nearest international airport is Brindisi). Each room is unique, full of character and comes with an en suite with shower, toilet and basin. Rooms are furnished to reflect the building and the area, creating a relaxed, calming and laidback atmosphere.
The masseria comfortably accommodates 10 students and close by there are another five rooms in the trulli houses. These small, white conical buildings are one of the most magical aspects of the Puglian landscape.
The retreat has both an indoor yoga studio and an outdoor yoga platform, and there is also a massage room where a range of massage treatments are offered at very reasonable rates.
Yoga classes take place twice daily and are tailored toward each guest's own level and ability. The yoga studio at La Rosa is a beautifully converted 18th-century barn situated in a peaceful part of the property. The hardwood floor and traditional stone, arched, white walls are designed to keep the room cool during the warm months as well as offering space for guests to move through sequences uninterrupted. All equipment is provided so there is no need to bring your own.
Zoe is a Diploma Course Tutor (DCT) for the British Wheel of Yoga and is also their DCT training officer. She has over 30 years of yoga practice with many different teachers from a variety of traditions, which has resulted in having an eclectic style of teaching. Her fundamental approach is to build strength as the cornerstone of practice and from there, all poses become possible. Zoe has taken the additional British Wheel of Yoga modules in pranayama and pregnancy. She also runs regular yoga classes, courses, teacher training, and workshops.
Exhausted from her music industry career in the late nineties, Laura found yoga, and there was no going back! The teacher training in 2003-2005 with Brian Cooper and Nawajoti of Union Yoga gave her a really strong grounding in her dynamic teaching style, and she is forever grateful for their firm, nurturing and patient energy. At this time she was practising Ashtanga and assisting the daily Mysore class at Triyoga. She has been teaching yoga for over 10 years. Laura's yoga style is inyasa flow but she includes moments of yin or restorative; there is always some pranayama and meditation
Andrea is known for her passionate, dynamic, and inspirational teaching that incorporates both the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga from the lineage of her gurus Sharon Gannon and David Life. Her classes integrate deep Bhakti infused practices with the application of precise alignment and deep intention. Andrea completed her Hatha yoga training in 2001 and, in 2008, became the diploma course tutor for Cambridgeshire with the British Wheel of Yoga. In 2005, she completed the Jivamukti teacher training in New York.
Joanne teaches mindful, breath-led movement, inspired by many great teachers along the way. Over the course of twelve years, her yoga practice has grown towards a keen interest in the energetic effects of postures and breath work, the grace and flow of Vinyasa sequencing, and the contemplative practises of meditation. She has a passion for teaching yoga to all levels from beginner to advanced, and credits her students for teaching her as much as she has them!
This retreat will take place in the region of Puglia, in Italy. La Rosa dei 4 Venti is a 15-hectare property situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italy's boot. The landscape is rural and dotted with beautiful olive trees and vineyards, divided by pretty dry-stone walls.
La Rosa dei 4 Venti (formerly known as Santa Maria del Sole) is a charming, family run yoga retreat set in an elegantly restored 16th century masseria (a traditional farmhouse found in the Puglia region). Staying true to the old Apulian style, many of the authentic features of the farm are still in place and provide an idyllic backdrop for this yoga holiday.
