This retreat will focus on how to bring stillness into your movement and movement into your stillness. Through different practices and approaches from yoga, guided meditation to movement, and playful group work, you'll learn how to find your place of stillness inside and independently from the outside. It's a place where creativity, spontaneity, abundance, healing, and immense wisdom reside. In the desert with no distractions, you will be able to tune into yourself or your innate place of intuition and magic.
You will stay at riads and kasbahs with en-suite bathroom, and biouvac (berber tents).
The yoga is a combination of Vinyasa flow, Hatha, and pranayama (breathing techniques). The desert opens yourself to your own innate power. Therefore, it is recommended that you prepare a theme you want to work on or an especially demanding asana you would like to deepen.
In the movement classes, you will explore the body and its relationship with itself, the space around it, and other people. Move your energy from your center, and get in direct contact with your own creative flow. These workshops will amplify and liberate your energy via techniques such as theater, movement, and corporal expression.
The meditations will be with either guided using visualizations to receive subtle answers that expand the world of words or active with a combination of movement, music, and relaxation.
After meeting up in Marrakesh in the evening, you will set your intention for the week before you have a typical Moroccan dinner together. The next morning after yoga and breakfast, you will set out to cross the southern Atlas Mountains and Todra Gorges, have lunch in a little village, and have breaks for photos of the beautiful panorama until you arrive at your first stop in Ouarzazate. You will have meditation for the night.
The following morning starts with yoga and breakfast before you continue your journey through the mountains, large plateaus, and palm valleys to reach the desert. After taking a cup of the famous Moroccan mint tea and taking time to relax, you’ll have dinner and your first movement session. The next day is your stay at the hotel just at the footsteps of the dunes. You can take time for ourselves to walk out in the desert or simply relax in between yoga and meditation.
The third day is your day to the Sahara desert! You’ll leave after breakfast to enjoy the ocean-like landscape and finally enter complete silence without outside distractions. There will be no internet, cell-phones, and car noise! You’ll stay for two nights to dive deeper into yoga, meditation, and movement by using the days to tune into yourselves and the theme of the desert. It’s a perfect place to spend some alone time to listen within and to explore the landscape and its expansive view.
It’s all about finding stillness in your surrounding and inside of yourselves, no matter if you sit still in meditation or if you move along the dunes. Relaxing Reiki and Ayurvedic healing massage sessions are available in the spare time in between at an extra cost, or you can take time to simply relax and spend time by yourself or with the fellow yogi travelers. There’ll be plenty of time for you to walk on the dunes, sandboard, contemplate the impression of not having any kind of walls around you, just open space and clear sky, or just chill in the sun.
After these two nights, you’ll get back to your castle at the footsteps of the dunes. You can relax by the pool or optionally take a trip to the little berber village, buy some herbal tea from the desert, or have a look at local items.
After the last breakfast, you’ll take your trip back to Marrakesh. Here, you will say goodbye to everyone, check back into your intention for the week, and contemplate what you’ve learned and seen before taking your flights back home.
This retreat will take place in Marrakesh, Morocco. However, most activities will especially take place in Sahara desert.
During this retreat, you will be served daily half board meals which include breakfast and dinner with delicious, fresh, and mainly local seasonal food.
