"Amazing experience"

Carla was simply the best host and instructor, she is friendly, bubbly and positive, we found it lovely that she ate her evening meal with us and joined in our conversations. Her food was delicious, healthy and good portions.

The setting is beautiful and the accommodation was very comfortable and clean.

The yoga was at just the right level, we were a group of 4 of intermediate level and we all managed it well, we loved all the different types of yoga Carla taught.

We will definitely be returning again and can't wait!!

"Excellent - Exceeded expectations "

The photos don’t do it justice. The house and yoga studio are tasteful and homely. Everything was done with care, from the cooking to the decor. There were lots of different types of yoga sessions and I enjoyed all of them. I felt challenged and rested. Additional treatments were available. I had a facial and back massage. Both were exceptional. There were healthy, tasty meals and a coffee and tea station for hot drinks. I can’t fault this trip at all. Amazing value for money too. I would recommend and book again without hesitation.

"Relaxing, friendly yoga retreat"

The setting is lovely with a very well kept garden and beautiful lounge for relaxing. Bedrooms are excellent too. Carla was a very friendly host, and excellent instructor. The yoga studio is really nice. The vegetarian meals were all good - as were the various baked goods Carla produced (while singing!) in her kitchen.

Very welcoming, instantly felt relaxed and comfortable. The yoga sessions were great, a lovely mix of different yoga styles and great instruction. The food was all homemade and delicious.

I had built up quite high expectations for my retreat due to personal circumstances and was really looking forward to it. It did not let me down, especially as I went on my own though I met a group of amazing people. From arrival and being met by Lesley, Carla's mum to leaving it met all my expectations and I was made to feel very welcome, as if I was visiting a good friend. The location was fab, accommodation and food amazing, even with an unexpected power cut on the first night, Carla and her team dealt with it extremely well and produced a fab 'candlelit' dinner for us all. The lodge was very homely and relaxing and the yoga sessions, yoga room and massage all amazing. I would highly recommend.

"A Wonderful 3 Day Break!"

I cannot recommend this yoga retreat enough! My sister, daughter and I had been looking forward to this 3 day break since we booked it a few months ago and we weren’t disappointed. Carla is a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are lovely and comfortable and the rest of the house is cosy and inviting. The food, all made by Carla was delicious while being healthy and nourishing.

Our yoga teacher, Jacqueline was wonderful and I learnt more in 3 days than I have done in the 3 years that I have been practising yoga! I can definitely recommend the yoga Nidra which we enjoyed at the end of each yoga session. All in all, a brilliant retreat - I will definitely be going back!

"Fabulous Yoga Retreat"

First class accommodation with fabulous plant-based meals and a truly lovely welcome from Carla (our host) and Jacqueline (Yoga teacher).

"An amazing yoga haven!"

Carla and Jacqueline were amazing hosts- so friendly and welcoming from the moment we entered the house.

The house is really cosy and our group of 6 ladies were encouraged to treat it like a home from the start. Carla's plant-based meals were really delicious and we are all looking forward to some recipes from her. Although Carla looked after the house and meals she also joined us in a few yoga sessions which was really nice.

Jacqueline was a fantastic yoga teacher and, although working us quite hard doing mainly vinyasa flow, she did also have sessions in yoga nidra and yin yoga. She was also sensitive to our tiredness on the last session and happily tailored the session to be a bit more gentle with not a downward dog in sight! Jacqueline also offered really good sports massages, a great complement to the yoga.

We had a perfect mix of yoga and down-time, with enough free time on the 2nd day to go into York if wanted. The evenings were very relaxing in their beautiful living room with enough comfy sofas and armchairs to accommodate all. We were encouraged to help ourselves to any food in the kitchen if we got peckish in the evening. Carla should never have mentioned chocolate in the fridge!

Overall, a great setup in lovely countryside (having access to the garden in summer would be an added bonus).

A 2-night yoga retreat was for me the perfect length of time.

"Fabulous getaway"

Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived, Carla is a wonderful host welcoming and efficient. Jacqueline the Yoga instructor was introduced to us all at the meet and greet on arrival and from then on they couldn't do enough for us. Plenty of hot drinks available throughout the day and so much delicious food that it wasn't possible to feel hungry even for all the yoga classes that we did. Rooms were spotlessly clean and beds really comfy. Didn't want to leave at the end of the 3 days. Will definately be booking again.

"Didn't want to leave! "

Everything was better than we had expected! The food was delicious! A lot of the meals were vegan and we were surprised how much we loved them, I want the recipes so I can make them at home! The accommodation was lovely and comfortable, and there were nice areas you could relax in, in between classes. Carla was on hand for anything we needed throughout our stay, and Jacqueline the yoga teacher was very friendly and knowledgeable! She also gives a great massage, if you get a chance to have one, definitely worth it! In our spare time we went on a walk nearby but there are loads of walks near. Huge range of herbal teas, healthy snacks etc you can have any time. The yoga classes were very good as there was a range of different types we explored, and doesn't matter if you are a total beginner! Definitely recommend!

"Weekend retreat"

What a fab weekend I had with my best friend at the retreat. We loved how welcoming both Carla & Jacqueline were. They put everyone at ease and made us feel very welcome immediately.

I personally liked how flexible they were with regards to the itinerary in that you were not pressured to attend all of the classes if you didn t want to.

The plant based food was delicious and Carla tried to cater for everyone’s dietary needs and we had a few!

I enjoyed trying different types of yoga that I hadn t tried before and appreciated that Jacqui gave me alternative moves for any poses I was unable to do.

As the weather was good we also took some classes in the garden which were uplifting.

Already planning on when we can go back and would definitely recommend Deighton Lodge x

"Deighton Lodge Yoga Retreat"

I thoroughly enjoyed my yoga retreat! I was particularly pleased with the lovely warm welcome from Carla on arrival and throughout the stay. She was so lovely it was more like staying at a friend's house than in paid-for accommodation.

The food was also amazing. I was a bit nervous before-hand of whether 'nutritious plant based food' would be enough to keep body and soul together for 3 days but I needn't have worried! From the Sunday dinner on the first night (stuffed butternut squash) to the range of options on the breakfast bar I loved all of it.

We were also lucky that the weather was fantastic and we were able to spend most of the free time, and some of the yoga classes, in the beautiful garden.

I also enjoyed the opportunity to have a go at some different styles of yoga that I had not done before. I felt like I learned a lot from Jackie.

"1st time learning yoga. Amazing! Welcoming!"

This.was the first time I have done anything to do with yoga and wanted to give myself a good basis to start. Carla and Jacqueline were very welcoming and made me feel at ease. The yoga is very varied. The food is amazing! I am not vegetarian or vegan and absolutely loved it. The snacks provided were delicious. Carla is very accommodating to peoples dietary requirements and always goes the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy. I would recommend a massage from Jacqueline as this was one of the best I have had done and definitely released tight areas.

"A very relaxing break"

Beautiful house, it has lots of outdoor space with lovely little corners where you can sit alone if you wish to have some self time and then common areas to spend time with the group. I really enjoyed this as part of the visit was to spend time alone, reset and relax. It didn't feel claustrophobic, the house is big enough to allow for everyone to have their own space. It was lovely to go out for walks or running early in the morning, we were lucky enough to have amazing weather which made it even better. My room was lovely, with a view to the fields, quiet, very comfortable bed and a great wet room.

Lovely food and snacks. Menus are plant based. Very much my kind of cooking so really happy with that! Everything was delicious. You can help yourself to herbal teas throughout the day, nice touch.

The Nidra class was very enjoyable. It was the first time for me and really helped.

I found both Carla and Jackie very welcoming.

"Can’t wait to return!! "

Just returned from a few days at the wonderful Deighton Lodge and I already can’t wait to go back. I was immediately made to feel welcome by the lovely Carla and Jacqueline the wonderful yoga instructor. There was the perfect balance of yoga and relaxation time and the lodge was idilic. Great location and surrounding area, very peaceful and the bedrooms were lovely and cosy. The yoga was amazing with a great mix of styles to suit any abilities. Both Jacqueline and Carla were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they really made me feel at home. Carla’s home cooking and snacks were just delicious! There was always plenty to eat! I would highly recommend a massage by Jacqueline also!! Thank you so much ladies for such a great few days, it was just what I needed and I can’t wait to visit you again :)

"Wonderful Yoga Retreat"

The accommodation was very good, comfortable, clean and fresh. The food was all vegetarian and excellent, with scummy little veggie snacks available all the time. Carla, our host, put me completely at ease as soon as I arrived and this was very important to me as I was travelling alone. Lovely comfortable and large ensuite room with a two seater sofa with very comfy bed. Jacqueline, Yoga instructor, was first class. I wish I lived closer to York as I would go regularly to her classes at her studio. I didn't feel pushed to do crazy asanas, I could just work at my own level. No competition in her classes!

Went for a 3 day yoga retreat :) had an amazing time... could have stayed longer

Food - 3 meals a day plus snacks, I brought my own snacks however didn't eat any of them because I was kept full by the meals included. All plant based and natural. I have very specific dietary requirements as I follow an anti-inflammatory diet. Carla, the owner, catered to my specific dietary requirements whilst still making absolutely delicious food and snacks - very accommodating and inclusive meals... didn't think it was possible to overindulge on healthy food but I did! 🤤🤤

Room - Double ensuite, spacious, cosy, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom facilities.

Garden and lounge space - comfortable, scenic, quiet and peaceful.

Hosts - So friendly, patient and welcoming.

Yoga - 3/4 daily sessions. Even though the yoga is more aimed at beginners/ older age clients, I learnt about yoga nidra (which I will try to continue) and feel like I did a lot of stretching and hip opening which I need, especially as I do a lot of fitness - some adaptations made. I feel like I deepened my yoga practice mentally and achieved relaxation which is just as important as the physical, much needed when living in the hustle and bustle of London.

Overall rating - 9/10

Would I come again? In a heart beat

Would you recommend to others? Most definitely.

"Deighton Lodge Simply yoga"

A fabulously calming retreat which was exactly what I needed. The yoga could be as challenging as I wanted it to be. Everyone was given the care and attention they required during our yoga practice. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. Free time and yoga was perfectly balanced. Carla and Jaqueline are great hosts, friendly, approachable and knowledgable. A fantastic few days that was so much more than simply yoga.

"A relaxing retreat"

Loved the food, the accommodation has everything I needed and the yoga was divine. Carla was extremely friendly and accommodating, our yoga instructor was extremely knowledgeable and adapted the yoga to my needs. The group was small so we all had a customised yoga plan and the location was wonderful, the house over looked beautiful fields and it was just off the A1 (handy for driving).

"Good yoga break"

Carla Mitchell (owner of Deighton Lodge) is very welcoming and friendly. I joined the end of one retreat and then joined with a full day separate retreat on my final day. Everyone was lovely and welcoming. I loved making a face mask on day two and having a full body massage. I also really enjoyed the relaxation yoga. The meals were hearty and tasty. There was a hot tub available for our retreat, which some of the group enjoyed. I was able to relax and read for a while. I particularly enjoyed the yin yoga with Jackie on day three. It suited my ability. My room was well appointed and comfortable. The classes with Debbie were mixed and, even when I could not manage the exercises she was encouraging and helpful - just asking that I keep moving. A very enjoyable experience.

"I smile when I think about it"

I wanted a relaxed escape after a very stressful year. I’m not good at relaxing so I wanted something where I’d be guided and where I would learn something new. I was a complete Yoga novice but even though the class was mixed ability, it was taught in really clear way and there were always options for the more challenging positions. The group were lovely and we got on really well - I don’t know whether that was luck if just that a retreat like this is always going to attract nice people. The food was lovely and plentiful and the mix of free time, treatments and yoga was just right. I left with some tools I will use for the rest of my life and with a truly rested mind. I smile when I think about it.

"Deighton Lodge - A Serene Exquisite Retreat"

The location, ease of access yet surrounded by fields and nature. The stunning ambience of the Lodge, welcomed warmly by Carla who was friendly, welcoming and a wonderful cook, producing a variety of the most colourful tasty meals. The interior was stunning exquisite decorative touches, a wonderful large comfy lounge, lots of natural light and amazing rustic fireplace. Two dining areas. Beautiful patio with an abundance of outdoor seating overlooking colourful, tranquil garden areas with stunning vistas. The most comfortable beautifully decorated bedroom, fantastic aspect with all amenities required, including a fridge. The purpose built Yoga Studio and wonderful facilities. The yoga classes led by Debbie who offered a variety of options within the poses for all abilities in a friendly, encouraging manner whilst giving thorough explanation of the benefits of each pose, offering a variety of practices e.g Yin, restorative, Ashtanga etc. The Aryuvedic therapist was simply excellent, I've never experienced better. All in all a wonderfully restorative therapeutic retreat, I left feeling wonderfully relaxed, wanting to go back for more of the very same!

"Opportunity to try different yoga styles in a new setting"

The yoga rooms and communal areas in the house were tastefully decorated and the garden was very well maintained. It is quiet and you are generally left to your own devices. The beds are comfortable. I liked the view over the fields and seeing brown hares and pheasants. Debbie and Carla were both very friendly, welcoming and approachable. Debbie was very knowledgeable and good at explaining the theory behind her yoga and meditation practices and recommending resources. She provided plenty of options to make the poses accessible for all levels. I felt a little under-challenged in the earlier sessions but towards the end of the retreat I started to feel like I was learning and improving more, which made me more engaged and able to focus and not feel so distracted by my thoughts! I enjoyed trying some new yoga and meditation styles and learning how to improve my practice. This was my first retreat so I was not sure what to expect, but overall it was a nice break and I got to do lots of yoga and meet some interesting fellow yogi people, which was a good experience.

"Deighton Lodge"

I had a lovely warm welcome from Carla the owner and host of Deighton Lodge. As a lone traveller she made me me comfortable from the moment I arrived, showing me around the lodge and up to my room, which was extremely comfortable with a large modern wet room, big comfy bed and a beautiful views over the garden and fields beyond. Everything about the retreat was perfect, this wasn’t my first time on a retreat and compared very well with others. Our instructor Debbie was brilliant, delivering a good mix of yoga styles, never putting us under pressure to perform and always giving options for all abilities. There was a mix of lovely ladies on the retreat of varying ages and abilities and we all got along really well. The yoga was held in either the small studio which is bright with a vaulted ceiling and large folding windows with views across the fields, or the barn which is enormous with lots of room for playing around with inversions and alignments, being able to put yourself against a wall if necessary. Debbie put quite a lot of emphasis on alignment which we all found beneficial and helpful. She was patient, friendly and helpful at all times. Carla our host did all the cooking, providing some freshly baked goodies for us on arrival, and a varied yummy selection of vegetarian lunches and dinners over the 3 days. I can’t recommend this retreat enough, everything was perfect. The ladies who run this have built a thriving business and should be very proud!!

I absolutely loved my 3 day yoga retreat.

Carla is a brilliant Yoga instructor she broke the movements down which was perfect for a beginner like myself who has only experienced yoga via YouTube! Saying that the classes were still challenging enough which is just what I wanted.

"3 day retreat "

Carla is absolutely lovely. She’s an amazing host, cook and yoga instructor and she just makes you feel so comfortable and welcome.

I liked the timetable, the variety of classes and the opportunity for personal time. It’s a beautiful setting and I was particularly pleased about having a room with a bath!

The yoga sessions are varied and informative, and I will be using what I learnt in my practice going forward.

I’m quite a fussy eater so I was a little concerned beforehand that I wouldn’t like the food. As it happened I really enjoyed all of it, and it opened my eyes to trying more vegetarian & vegan meals in future.

I will definitely going back - it was a fantastic break.

"Perfect retreat to relax and escape the craziness "

Carla was a great host and yoga teacher who welcomed the guests with a friendly approach, which was perfect for a retreat.

"A fantastic yoga retreat!"

A really friendly welcome at the fabulous farmhouse made us feel at home immediately. We loved the well-appointed lounge with its great views out to the extremely well-tended, beautiful garden area. We loved the big deep bath in our bathroom- a perfect way to end a day of yoga.

The yoga studio was light, airy and spacious- a perfect space for yoga and meditation sessions. Our classes were led by Carla who is a very knowledgeable instructor and extremely supportive of all students at every level. Carla explains different yoga poses and sequences clearly and the alignment sessions really help you to move into positions correctly and develop a strong flow to the sequences. We learnt so much about yoga practices in just a few days.

The meals are all homemade and truly delicious. Overall, my daughter and I had a wonderful 3 days of yoga plus so much more at Deighton Lodge and we are already planning our next retreat there. Highly recommended for great yoga sessions and an overall inspiring, relaxing and rejuvenating break.

This was such a lovely & special retreat. The house is beautiful and very comfortable, with all you could need for your stay. The yoga was excellent with a lot of opportunity to practice (def got my money’s worth!) with some great focus on what you’re actually doing, as well as a chance to move and restore. The yoga practice was varied -some challenging but also some restful and restorative. The standard of teaching was excellent - supportive and encouraging too. "My First Taste Of Yoga"

I arrived at Deighton lodge as a meat eating, wine drinking stressed out mum/foster carer. I have never done yoga before but was still able to participate in all the classes. The whole experience left me feeling calm, relaxed and in a much better mind set. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and homely. I did not miss meat or wine at all, I also managed 3 days without tea or coffee. The food was very tasty and filling, fruit and healthy snacks available all day and night if you wanted. Carla and Debbie were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them, we were told to treat the house like it was our home. The hot tubs were an added bonus, great experience sitting in a hot tub looking at the stars. We also had a massage which, after all the yoga, was very pleasant. I was very fortunate to have 3 lovely ladies on the retreat with me, we all got on really well, it felt like we had known each other for years. The only negative is it was not long enough, I could have stayed for 2 weeks ! I would definitely recommend Deighton Lodge, I hope to do another retreat later this year. A 5 star experience for me.

"Highly Recommend this yoga retreat "

I found this a great experience for trying different types of yoga when I had very little knowledge . There’s no pressure from the instructors at all as to how much or little you wanted or could do . I wanted to really give it a good go so had a few aches , but the instructors always ensure you listen to what your own body can do, and guide you through the use of props . Carla and Debbie also prepare the really tasty veggie meals and I got loads of ideas to try at home . The small group of 4 of us , worked so well and we got on great . Deighton lodge is really easy to get to and so comfy . I felt really at home and the hot tub on a starry night was a bonus .

"A great retreat "

I loved the overall concept put together by Carla and Debbie. The yoga sessions along with the food and the overall atmosphere were well aligned. It was well thought through as the yin yoga session were well adopted to the overall topic of detox. The postures that we did were well aligned to further help detox along with the well chosen food every day.

The yoga alignment sessions then help to improve your practice.

The fantastic massage that was included was very appreciated by everyone to reset your body and mind for the sessions to come to be able to really deepen the practice.

The 1:1 session in the end rounded up the whole experience. I am able to have a nice well balanced home practice that supports effectively the areas of my body that I feel I should be more mindful focusing in my practice. Thank you for a great experience!

Everything from the location, the weekend itinerary, the facilities, and the food was wonderful. Carla has used her enviable talents to create a peaceful, relaxing, beautiful, luxurious and unique space that makes the retreat so special. She is also such an attentive and welcoming host (fabulous cook too! 😊) I don’t feel a 10/10 would do it justice. The people I shared it with, the first class yoga tuition from Debbie and the massage just made it even better.

The Sunday Chill out session with Reiki and sound therapy was so relaxing and a welcome new experience. I also enjoyed the cookery workshop - great addition to the itinerary.

So much thought and attention to detail has evidently goes into the retreat. You genuinely feel that Carla and Debbie care about your wellbeing and there to ensure you have the most relaxing weekend.

"A relaxed, cosy getaway "

The week was very well organised so all attendees didn't need to plan. Each day was carefully laid out with a perfect balance of yoga and downtime.

The food was delicious, all plant based, with recipes for us to take home. Cooking workshops were included for us to practice some easy & healthy options too.

The rooms were very cosy and comfortable, allowing us to have personal time away if we needed. There was also a hot-tub and a large living room so we could spend time with others on the retreat if desired.

A massage was included within the package, which was a perfect add on to a relaxing week.

We did a wide range of yoga with some pilates and meditation also. We learned a lot about the different types of practices/postures and we were taught how to conduct our own self-practice when we get home. Tailored exercises were given to help us build our individual practices. Each yoga class was accommodating of all levels.

Carla & Debbie did an amazing job at looking after us and making sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing week. I would definitely recommend and I'd love to go again!

the whole experience felt well thought through. Carla looked after us all so well and we were incredibly well fed! Debbie was very attubed to the group as a teacher and kept the styles varied and built things up each day, which really boosted my confidence in what I could do. The extra touches such as the massage, 1:1 sessions, hot tub, food recipes, goodie bags and wellbeing sessions really added value and thoughtfulness to the whole experience. "Fantastic retreat, recommend without hesitation "

Food, rooms and yoga studio were fantastic. Carla took care of everything with perfect attention to detail. I’ve never felt so welcome and so looked after. The structure of each day was perfectly tailored to our needs and also flexible. Debbie was very knowledgable and her teaching gentle yet firm. She helped me to improve my practice massively and by the end had me doing postures I’d never tried before. The hot tub was a real treat. The massage included as part of the retreat was the icing on the cake. A real reset for me ... I’ve come home relaxed and inspired to develop my yoga practice further.

"My new annual January detox holiday! "

What's not to like? The food was incredible, location stunning, classes were fantastic. Carla and Debbie and Lucy could not have made us feel more like a little family if they tried! We completely crammed as much in as possible within the 3 days. I felt relaxed, rejuvenated, fit and healthy all in one. Will be returning next year with absolutely no doubt! I've even roped in a few of my friends to have a look at retreat dates. It was worth the 4.5 hour drive at 4am to get there!! Thankyou so much for this experience

This was a fantastic weekend, the right amount of classes vs free time to chill. Classes were brilliant and pitched for every level, food was fantastic and plentiful, venue was beautiful, can't fault it at all!

"Deighton Lodge Yoga Retreat - November 2018"

I was looking for a yoga retreat that was reasonably priced, had super comfortable accommodation, and offered lots of yoga sessions as well as relaxation. The Deighton Lodge retreat was perfect!

Thank you so much to Carla, Debbie and Lucy (and your team) for the most wonderful weekend away! The full body massage was absolutely amazing and hugely appreciated after working the muscles hard through the sessions. It was lovely to also have relaxation time - I can highly recommend the lovely trail walk nearby and prosecco in the hot tub was such a treat! Thank you also to Carla for being so thoughtful and diligent preparing meals and snacks to cater for coeliac disease. I really appreciate the effort you went to and it was wonderful to be away and feel so relaxed about the meals. Carla, Debbie and Lucy are fantastic! All in all, what a great yoga weekend with a great group of people!
