This Manawatu venue in North Island, New Zealand, is a converted hay barn on an idyllic organic homestead property. The views from this hilltop location on a clear day include as far south as Kapiti Island, as far west as Mount Taranaki, as far north as Mount Ruapehu and over to the Tongariro ranges to the east. Far away from the noise of cars or other people, the sounds of native birds chorus from the new growth native shelter trees.
The composting toilet, rainwater collection and simple accommodation model environmental stewardship and permaculture principles at their best. Rustic, peaceful, and environmentally sustainable to the highest degree, this is an exceptional setting for connecting with the energy of New Zealand. There is a basic kitchen where you can prepare or reheat your own meals. Sleeping arrangements are marae style or shared spaces.
There are three room options at Waiata Gardens. You will wake up with the birds if sleeping in the loft of the old hay barn. The barn loft sleeps four individuals, each booking separately. One queen bed suitable for a couple of close friends is available in the main house in the pink room (Rebekah's room) with an en-suite. There is also Luke's room which has two beds and sleeps two people who can book individually.
This retreat is carefully crafted by a New Zealand raised farm-girl yoga teacher, current Bay Area Healer, and a whole crew of passionate supporters who have your goals in mind. With gentle yet profound yoga and pranayama practices as the base of each day, you will also be led into gardening and harvesting projects to give back to the land that will be supplying most of your food during your stay.
Forrest hikes, glowworm expedition, and river outings. Each day will begin with meditation from an experienced meditation guide, followed by yoga practice carefully crafted to the needs of your group. Yumba Retreats offers one complimentary Zero Balancing treatment with Rebekah, Suzy, or Gabriel. Zero Balancing is a deeply relaxing body-energy work that addresses the tensions held in your bones. Performed lying on a massage table with clothes on, this treatment is like nothing else you have experienced.
Time in the garden, to walk to the river or to just sit and be, will be interspersed with trips to local sacred nature spaces. Evenings are times for the infrared sauna, the wood-fired hot tub, or sharing music and quiet reflection together after your afternoon restorative practice and deeply nourishing meal.
This retreat will take place just outside of Feilding, New Zealand, in the hilly rural countryside. New Zealand is known for its stunning landscapes, exotic plants, birds, and big sky. You will have the real experience of connecting ethically and deeply with the land and the people who care for it. The river is 15 minutes away so you can walk there and go for a swim or enjoy the sound of the rushing water. You can also just sit and read under the shade of the apple trees. Rolling green landscapes as far as the eye can see are nearby.
You will be fed with food grown and prepared organically and with love, on the farm homestead that will be your home for seven nights. All three meals will be catered for you with simple fresh and health-full meals. The catered meals come from the lovingly grown produce on the property itself. This retreat is vegetarian-friendly and there will be a meat option available once a day for people who are used to that, but always on the side. Please indicate your preferences on the registration form.
Farm-to-table has never been more direct, with produce such as plums, apples, spinach, corn, carrots, pumpkins, tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, strawberry, oranges, lemons, fresh herbs, feijoas, tamarillos, butternut squash, potatoes, kumara (New Zealand sweet potato), and eggs (six lovely hens on premises) coming directly from the land on which you'll be staying.
