During the training, you will be staying at Bohemia Resort in Jinja and @The River in QENP. These 2 guest houses are perfectly located for you to enjoy 2 very different sides of Uganda. Bohemia Resort is nesteld on the edge of the River Nile a few kms from town. This stretch of river has rapids and is often visited by vervet and red tail monkeys.
The River is also situated on a small river on the edge of Ishasha sector of the QENP. Almost all rooms have their own relaxing terrace and hammocks are dotted around the property offering seclusion and great views. There is a plunge pool great for dipping into to cool off. The main dining area also overlooks the area offering magnificent views of your surroundings. The birding here is phenomenal and there is a chance that baboon, monkeys and genet cats will wander through the lodge.
This training is a holistic and integrated approach in yoga. The training will be split into three modules. The first 65 hours in Jinja will teach students the fundamental philosophies and practices of yoga, empowerment and leadership, being of service to others, and how to create and serve an outreach community. The second module 105 hours will be in Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will prepare students to teach, as well as learn the fundamental philosophies and subtle energy practices of yoga. The final hours are made up of pre and post training work.
With her diploma and certificate in hand, Leyla flew to Ethiopia. She has traveled a lot and had various journeys through Africa before settling in Jinja, Uganda. She became qualified as a yoga teacher in 2008 with Africa Yoga and has been teaching extensively over the world since then. Initially drawn to the dynamic nature of Ashtanga and its power and moving meditation qualities, she has now softened herself and prefers to teach Vinyasa Flow.
Deidre is a certified yoga teacher specialized in Vinyasa Flow and Kundalini yoga. She first started practicing yoga in 2000, after she sustained a knee injury. She quickly realized that yoga was much more than a physical practice and she took her first yoga teacher training with Yoga Tree in 2008. Deidre has taught Kundalini and Bhakti yoga in Uganda, Jackson Hole, and San Francisco. Her students are encouraged to flow from the heart space. Yoga has been becoming a path of truth for her, a way to heal old traumas and become more conscious in her life.
Payal is a biotechnologist turned yoga teacher. Since she was a child, she found herself very curious about the mind, body, and soul connection. Until the age of 23, Payal had a regular yoga practice as a part of her culture, not paying much attention to it. At the age of 24, due to a major shift in her life, she left her job in one of the most competitive environments in the world and took a break. This is when she re-discovered her enthusiasm for yoga. She dedicated the next year deepening her own practice with several teachers in India, and in 2014, she became a full-time yoga teacher.
The yoga teacher training will be held in two places, in Jinja and in Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park
Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) For the last 10 nights, you will be staying in an accommodation located in Ishasha, QENP
Ishasha is an unspoiled remote sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for its tree climbing lions that can sometimes be spotted resting in the branches of the large fig trees. It is home to 350 bird species as well as giraffe, buffalo, oribi, defassa water buck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi, and reed buck.
During this teacher training, you will be served three healthy and delicious meals daily. The meals are gourmet vegetarian with plenty of options of locally grown organic food. The foods can be adjusted if you have any dietary requests and restrictions. Please inform Yogauganda in advance. Drinking water, organic juices, coffee, herbal blends, and teas are also available daily.
You could always arrive a few days earlier and take the opportunity to spend time with the mountain gorillas or tag this trip onto the at the end of your stay. The area for tracking gorilla is only a 4 hour drive from Ishasha which is where you will finish the training. The gorilla express three day trip costs $2,150USD if traveling solo. If you share the room and transport expenses, it would cost $1,750USD per person (2 people $3,500) in November in December the permit to track increases in price so the cost would be $2,300USD solo and $1900USD per person (2 people $3,800USD).
