You will be accommodated in shared twin rooms in attractive gites, with a maximum of four guests sharing a shower room and toilet. There is also the option of a single room or, for a supplement, single occupancy of a twin room. Some rooms have an en-suite shower room and toilet. All gites include a very comfortable communal living space with facilities for making tea and coffee. It is also possible to book an entire apartment for two people upon request.

You can choose from a wide range of optional activities at the Château du Fraissinet. You can come along to the two guided yoga sessions each day, take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, or take a walk in the mountains. You can also paddle, bathe, or watch the myriad of tiny fishes in the river, wander around the grounds, and make friends with the donkeys.

You can read in the shade of the trees, play table tennis, or chill out in the hammam or sauna. If you're feeling energetic, there's an optional session of kayaking or SUP yoga on the local lake.

  • Alison Burns

    Alison Burns has been practicing yoga for more than 30 years. She is a British Wheel of Yoga trained teacher, and is committed to sharing her love of yoga with her students and holiday guests. ​She is also a writer who has published two books and contributes regular articles to the Oxford Times. She has traveled extensively in India and Nepal. She and her husband, Chris, fell in love with the abandoned Château du Fraissinet in 2002 and moved in immediately with their children. Since then, they have been developing the property to create the beautiful and peaceful venue that it is today.

    Jane Harris is a professional practitioner in flower and vibrational essences and a consultant in energetic and therapeutic essential oils, also known as aromatherapy. Through flower essences and essential oils, Jane can help bring about balance and clarity in your life, enabling you to develop the courage, strength, and commitment to follow your dreams. She will work with you to promote your spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being to give you the opportunity to experience the magic of flowers and, more importantly, to show you that you can be the person you were meant to be.

This relaxing and inspiring yoga retreat will take place at the Château du Fraissinet, a beautiful country house on the edge of the stunning Cévennes National Park in the south of France. It is in the Gard department of Languedoc Roussillon, the Midi, and enjoys 300 days of sunshine a year.

The Château du Fraissinet is set in six acres of beautiful grounds with a river running alongside. There is an outdoor swimming pool cleaned with UVC light, which is kind to eyes and skin, and a relaxing spa pool. Guests are also welcome to use the sauna and hammam. Two gentle donkeys, Daisy and Lily, help out with mowing the lawn and are always delighted to make friends with visitors, especially if they bring carrots.

During this retreat, three delicious and mostly-vegetarian meals are provided each day. The dinner on Wednesday will be held at a local restaurant nearby. Coffee and tea are also included, and available every morning.

Occasionally, free-range chicken or fish may also be an option on the menu. The chateau's in-house chef, Chris, uses locally-sourced organic vegetables for salads and pulses, local free-range eggs, and, whenever possible, locally-produced cheese. He also specializes in creating wonderful and light desserts to round off your meal. He is happy to cater for most dietary requirements, if you notice in advance these requirements when booking.

The following excursions are optional and there will be a small supplement payable on site:

You can enjoy a hammam bath and the infrared sauna, and you can also book massage sessions at an additional cost.
