During this training program, you will be staying at Kaomai Lanna Resort in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This venue was chosen for its location, comfort, yoga venue, and excellent food. It is a beautiful, serene, and safe place for you to learn, grow, and thrive. Also, you will get to practice and learn yoga on a gorgeous platform treehouse.

The accommodation is on a private and shared room basis, you can choose to stay in a private single room or share a double occupancy room with another student. The available options are the deluxe room and superior room, the difference is deluxe room has a bathtub, while the superior room has a standing shower.


This Namaslay 200-hour yoga teacher training is a robust and comprehensive program that will graduate highly skilled, knowledgeable, and empowered yoga teachers who will go out there and better the world. This training is intensive, it is not a joke. This is not a relaxing and care-free retreat, rather an introspective and rigorous program that will be physically and mentally demanding. This is a time for deep and intensive study that will not only better your own life but also brighten the lives of those you reach through your teaching.

This training is for people who are not 100% satisfied with where they are currently at, it is for people who are ready to make a change but might be a little apprehensive about taking the first step. This training is for people who want more out of their lives, who feel that deep down they possess a profound inherent strength, gift, and are looking for a training to help them bring it to life.

This training program is best suited for people who want to be yoga teachers, as well as people who are looking to deepen their own personal practice yet do not have a desire to teach. Please note that this training has a strong emphasis on developing qualified and exceptional teachers. There will be a tremendous amount of practice and teaching throughout the program in which all trainees are expected to participate.

Strength training for yoga

One major component that is left out of so many yoga teacher training is the foundational basic of strength training. Based on what Candace noticed in classes from teaching and attending, many students are relying on their mobility and their hyper-mobility to get them through powerful Vinyasa classes. The danger of relying on hyper-mobility may lead to joint damage and potential injury over time.

The great way to balance out hyper-mobility is building strength. Strength building is beneficial to your overall health, as well as provide an extra boost in your yoga practice that may need to take it to the next level. In addition, the vital strength training information you learn in this training program will provide the solutions for students with hypermobility. Moreover, there is also a CrossFit certified instructor to teach the foundational basics for strength building as it applies to yoga.

Entrepreneurial class for yoga teachers

Thus, cueing needs to reflect this so that you can welcome bigger students into your class safely and ensure they get something out of the practice. This training program includes education on how to safely teach yoga for bigger bodies, the elderly, as well as people with PTSD and anxiety.

Namaslay yoga classes

Moreover, there are required reading lists that will be emailed to you upon sign up. You do not need to bring those texts, just need to read them prior to the training. The only book you need to bring for the actual training is Namaslay. You are recommended to bring the hard copy instead of the e-book version, as it is tough to flip through and the pose breakdowns do not always line up.

This training program will be led by a small team of highly skilled instructors. Candace will be the lead instructor, she will be the one responsible for teaching majority of the classes. Her main focus is Ashtanga Vinyasa and the majority of her studies have been under Mark Ansari, a direct student of Patthabi Jois.

Moreover, Carley Smith from Fairy Gutmother will be the second main teacher. She is a certified yoga instructor, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, GAPS certified practitioner, and she also works in functional medicine. In addition, there will be a strength trainer who is L1 certified through CrossFit, as well as other rotational guest teachers that are highly skilled and certified yoga instructors.

The first training class begins on July 8 at 5:45 a.m. and the graduation ceremony will end on July 28 at 12:00 p.m. This is an intensive yoga teacher training program, which means the days are tightly scheduled. While the days are tightly scheduled, there are frequent short breaks as well. YogaByCandace also encourages self-care, for trainees who are feeling physically tired are welcome to observe asana classes if they need a break from actually practicing. In addition, there are also three Thai massages included for added self-care.


Upon successfully passing this 200-hour program, you will be certified to teach yoga anywhere in the world. Through this training, you will be able to teach Vinyasa, Power, Yin, and Namaslay yoga classes as studio or workshop offerings. Consider it one more tool you have in your toolbox. Moreover, you will also be able to register with the Yoga Alliance, if you wish to be a 200-hour registered yoga teacher.

Note that YogaByCandace does not sell certifications and that your participation in the training does not guarantee you a certification. Certifications will be granted only upon successfully passing the written exam and practicum.

This training is not suited for pregnant women due to the acrobatic nature of the training. Please note that this training is very physically and mentally demanding. The weather in Thailand is very hot, a majority of the time will be spent outdoor for lectures and physical practice. Thus, it is important that you be in good health to successfully complete the program.

Please note that you do not need to know or be able to do every single yoga pose. You are joining this program to learn and you do not need to know everything right off the bat. However, you should have a strong personal yoga practice. There are at least three classes per week, one of which is hot yoga so that the training will not be a total shock to your system.

YogaByCandace does not care about those areas, the purpose of you joining this program is to learn. They would much prefer someone with an open mind who cannot do x, y, or z pose, than someone who is closed minded but has the perfect handstand. This program is not about the handstands, so don't worry about what you can or cannot do right now because that is not important. Rather, ask yourself if you have the love and determination to get through what is sure, to be a demanding yet empowering three-week training.

Carley Smith
Carley is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and certified GAPS Practitioner (CGP). She became interested in health and nutrition after being diagnosed with Lyme disease, the negative effects of Lyme disease coupled with long-term antibiotic use completely destroyed her body. She began searching for alternative ways of healing which is when she started implementing the GAPS diet. She became so empowered by the progress in her health, from then she decided to become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and certified GAPS Practitioner so that she could help others.
