This Retreat will take place in a wonderful secluded farmhouse reached by a footbridge across the beck with direct access to the fell and breathtaking views of Ullswater lake. The farmhouse has a lovely bright dining room with lovely garden views as well as a log fire to keep you warm and cozy in the living room. There is a separate yoga and meditation hall with amazing energy and plenty of natural light.

The house has a selection of rooms available. All rooms come with bedding and stunning views of the garden or lake side.

This weekend retreat is all-inclusive and is the ideal get away to help quiet the mind for those with a busy work/life schedule. Enjoy a hike up the fell or a stroll down to the lake side.     Amber Serene was influenced by her father who is a Acupuncturist & Herbalist professor in London. With over 10 years experience as a Registered Massage Therapist & 5 years Yoga Therapy experience she was honoured to complete her 500 hour advanced Yoga training in India and is a certified and registered Yoga instructor by Yoga Alliance. Her calm yet energetic approach makes others feel comfortable in her class, she has a great method of teaching beneficial for everyone. Amber is highly trained in multi style Yoga and has a warm healing presence that will help you let go, relax and unwind.

  • Ivan Modlinger-Ali

    Ivan was brought up a Buddhist, his parents practicing Tai Chi and yoga regularly always inspired Ivan in that way of being. He plans to work with people within the mental health sector introducing them to Qigong and the amazing power it has to help manage your well being. Ivan completed his training with the Shiatsu college of London & is a 500 hour advanced Qigong Meditation teacher & a Reiki master with years of experience. Ivan is passionate about healing your body through nutritious food & will be preparing meals during your stay as well as teaching mindful outdoor Qigong classes.

This retreat will take place in a beautiful and tranquil part of The Lake District. Ullswater is England's most beautiful and the second largest lake in the UK and sits amidst the splendor of some of the finest fells in the lakeland, including Helvellyn. It is also the setting for William Wordsworth's famous 'Daffodils' poem. There are many villages nearby with plenty of character and charm. Ullswater is the beautiful Eden Valley of Cumbria.

You will enjoy freshly made juicing/smoothies, wholesome and nutritious vegetarian/vegan meals during your stay. Gluten free diet options available and mostly organic produce used.

During your free time, you may book a session at the spa. In here, you can choose from holistic, deep tissue, acupressure massages, Reiki healing, aromatherapy, reflexology, or Indian head treatment. 30-minute sessions cost 30 GBP and 60-minute sessions cost 50 GBP. There is a 3-hour direct fast train service from London Euston to Penrith. The retreat venue is a 20-minute taxi journey from Penrith, Ullswater station. If you are traveling by public transport, you can reach the nearest town by a 30-minute bus journey to Pooley bridge and hire a 5-minute taxi ride to the retreat venue. Otherwise on request we can arrange a pick up from Pooley bridge. Once booked, you will receive a map and address to help you locate the venue.

    PROS Positives: The location, absolutely beautiful. A great mix of people, and with lack of phone signal and TV, we sat and "spoke" :) Just like it used to be. I really enjoyed the mix of yoga, and learnt a lot of new things. Also learning that vegan food can taste so good.

    Life changing experience

    CONS Negatives: This isn't really a negative as such but when arriving into Pooley Bridge on the bus as suggested in the directions, I found that the taxi driver for the village was on holiday and the nearest rank was Penrith, so a 10 minute journey would have cost me 25 pounds! I ended up getting a lift from a lovely lady in one of the Inns, but I would suggest ringing up the taxi service to make sure that you will be able to get to the house if planning on getting the bus! Otherwise it's best getting a taxi straight from Penrith train station.

    PROS Positives: Everything about this retreat was amazing, I felt I took something new away with me from each session that I now apply in my daily routine. I felt at ease as soon as I stepped into the house, and this feeling was carried with me throughout the weekend. The house is beautiful, it's in a special place and the atmosphere there is so warm and cozy! The morning meditation outside overlooking the lake was incredible! I am fairly new to yoga, and I felt as though the sessions were perfect for all levels, with the opportunity to push myself when I wanted to, and the reminder to rest when I needed to and to listen to my body. I ended up doing a headstand which is a huge achievement for me! The massage I had was beautiful, and the wild lake swim although very cold was a complete rush, and the experience brought the group closer together! The food was incredible!! I felt completely nourished the entire time, and by the end of the weekend my skin was so soft! I'm putting that down to the morning juice! During my free time I also went on a walk up to the waterfall, a 15 minute drive away, which was beautiful! I overcame a lot of anxieties, and pushed myself mentally and physically to the limit during this trip, and I feel so much stronger now. I have learnt so much about myself, yoga and healthy food, and I am already adapting this knowledge into my life! Thank you so much:)

    "I have been searching for the perfect yoga teacher in Hastings for some time now. I am happy to say that I have finally found her! I have been attending Amber's classes for a few weeks now. I love how she fuses together different styles of yoga, including hatha, iyengar and ashtanga, to create her own unique style of teaching. Amber is an engaging, passionate and mindful yoga teacher. She is very attentive to everyone in her class and ensures that they work to their maximum capabilities. She creates a beautiful relaxing atmosphere, with the use of candles, incense, chanting, tibetan singing bowls, bells, meditation and deep breathing exercises.     "I spent the most amazing week at Amber's yoga retreat in Menorca. Everything from the location and the food, to the activities and the company were absolutely perfect. We had wonderful daily Qi Gong sessions with Ivan on a beautiful cliff edge followed by great yoga lessons from Amber where I learned so much in just a week. The healthy, fresh and homemade breakfast and dinners were some of the best food I've eaten and were always served with such enthusiasm and a description of how it was made and where the delicious ingredients came from, which made each meal that much more enjoyable! Amber & Ivan also took us to see some gorgeous places where we explored caves and did yoga on the beach. Truly a fantastic experience and I left happy, relaxed, refreshed and very inspired.     "I had never been on any kind of retreat before, although I had read some reviews from last year's Menorca retreat. The photos were enticing enough."

    "So I booked myself and one other on the retreat, not knowing who was even going to come with me, my partner Nick, who had never done yoga, or my 19-year-old son Milo who had a bit of time on his hands. In the end, it was me and Milo. I took him to a few yoga classes in Sevenoaks to give him a taste..he loved it."

    "The next morning the sessions began. First warming up with Ivan, then yoga with Amber.     "I just returned from a week's retreat in Menorca with Amber and Ivan. What a wonderful life changing experience. Beautiful weather, food, location and most importantly people. The island is stunning and you have plenty of free time to explore the lovely walks and beaches. Starting our day with Qigong on the cliff with the sun on your face is a memory that will stay with me for a long time, and Amber's yoga classes are the best I have been to. We managed all our classes outdoors and even watched the moon on the rooftop on the last evening. I have come home feeling so much more at peace with the world and life.     "I had been at a wonderful yoga retreat in Grasmere where Amber was assisting the yoga classes and taught the meditation and relaxation sessions and also offering massage treatments. Both were fantastic. With the massage, I chose the deep tissue and under focused breathing (a few groans while those tense bits were vigorously worked on) I felt so good after (and later the same day when I went walking / fell running)."

    "A truly enlightening experience made all the more special by the personal care and attention is shown by our exceptional hosts, Amber and Ivan. We began our days with Qigong explained and led so eloquently by Ivan. Once we were 'warmed up', energised and full of positive chi Amber would then follow on with yoga practice. With her wealth of experience she is able to guide each participant to reach their full potential and we all noticeably improved during the course of the week. The reward for our efforts was to then sit down together and enjoy a superb healthy and nutritious breakfast. This really set us up for the day during which we could take guided mindfulness walks in pretty countryside often with sea views, or 'do our own thing' until sunset yoga. Weather permitting this would take place poolside or on the roof terrace, sometimes with chanting and meditation. The next treat would be the wholesome tasty suppers created by Ivan and enjoyed by all."

    "Finally found the time to share with you all what a wonderful yoga retreat I had in Menorca, Spain in November. Amber provided us all with a well balanced week of yoga and nutrition in a beautiful Vila. We started every day with Qi gong and yoga after sun rise revealing the beautiful surroundings before providing us with a delicious healthy breakfast and the most amazing juices I would never have dreamed of to set us up for the well thought out mindfulness walks through stunning scenery. After treating us to delightfully delicious vegetarian lunches we had afternoons to spend at the local beach or walk to secluded coves for snorkelling or reading before returning for our evening yoga. Ivan's exquisite evening meals were always a delight on the pallet and Ambers evening meditation relaxed us for a good nights sleep. It was a well thought out week, a wonderfully funny bunch of people who I miss and I sincerely did not want to leave, but I came away with renewed vigour and dietary intentions.
