Accommodation is in the rear bure standard rooms and the front ocean view bures. Each room has two beds, an ensuite bathroom, a private deck, and air conditioning. There is a bar fridge and tea and coffee making facilities in each room.

Programm

This week explores the insights of all these practices for body and mind. During the yoga class, Sam will seek to cultivate your physical awareness, and find a balance between effort and surrender that can be translated into daily life.

She teaches a gentle hatha practice, encouraging you to sink deeply into each asana and explore the edge, finding that point before effort becomes strain. Letting go of the need to push oneself is part of the journey, and drives true understanding of surrender.

Susan takes up the exploration in her classes on meditation and mindfulness. She will discuss the scientific basis for the benefits of both, and lead you into developing your own practice.

In the same way as yoga is a practice – something pursued regularly – mindfulness and meditation are also practices. One does not “do” meditation, one practices it – and it grows with time. So too with mindfulness: it is a process and a habit for better living, with established benefits for physical as well as mental health.

  • Afternoon: Trip to Savusavu Town to see local market and shops. Yoga in Fiji put you in cabs to get into town and then leave you to wander around at your own pace, and let you take a cab (3 AUD), or walk back, when you’ve had enough.

Daku Resort is a delightful gem that cheekily glints from the hidden treasure trove that is Savusavu. It’s a magical place where you’ll soon feel like part of the family. Set in beautiful tropical gardens overlooking Savusavu Bay, Daku’s accommodation is a mixture of rooms in traditional Fijian-style bures (small houses), and self contained cottages and villas.

There’s a central bure with a bar and restaurant, and a swimming pool. Savusavu is an easy 25 minute walk or four-minute cab ride. There are a range of activities at Daku or nearby – ranging from snorkelling on the fantastic reefs of Savusavu to kayaking, diving, hiking and fishing. The staff will be happy to help you arrange trips and excursions. If you just want to relax and have a spa massage, that’s also available.

You will arrive in Fiji at Nadi International Airport and then take a domestic flight to Savusavu Airport (SVU), where Yoga in Fiji Team will meet you. You can also fly into Labasa Airport to the north and from there, it is a very pleasant 80-minute taxi ride over the moutains. Cost of taxi: 120 FJD.
