Come and relax for a yoga retreat while enjoying the Lyngenfjord's peacefulness! The yoga retreat will be held in Northern Norway with activities, Northern Lights, and relaxation. The yoga classes with an amazing view on the fjord are progressive and individualized, making it easy for you to follow the classes. You will witness the most magnificent natural light display, the aurora or Northern Lights. Escape the hustle and bustle of your life and immerse yourself in the relaxing activities.
Solhov offers accommodation in double rooms (single with supplement) and common sanitary facilities.
Solhov is a former school which looks like a castle. Three floors wooden construction from the beginning of last century, it is a place full of history with its outbuildings which offers multiple possibilities of activities. The area includes some organic exploited fields in summer (strawberry, rhubarb, potatoes, grass) and extends from the nearby forest to the island in the middle of the fjord.
Bed linen and towels are provided. Free parking and free Wi-Fi are also available.
Yoga Boréal offers you a yoga retreat for six days, 350 kilometers above the polar circle, from beginners to advanced! Arrive smoothly at the first night to welcome the morning of the next day without the fatigue of the journey. Yoga Boréal will pick you up in Tromsø or Lyngseidet (depending on your request) the first day and offer accommodation and meals. Thus, the second day is entirely dedicated to your retreat.
Upon waking up, a hot drink will be offered before a yoga practice in your dedicated “room with view” on the fjord. The courses last from two to three hours depending on your level (a group of 12 people maximum). If the weather allows it, a practice can be organized outdoors around the planned activities.
The courses are within the reach of everyone, progressive and individualized, with initial warm-up and relaxation at the end of the lessons. Iyengar yoga is remedial and curative, but not recommended in cases of acute pain.
As the days go by, you can experience several afternoon and evening activities (according to the weather): northern lights, relaxation in a hot tub, trip on an island, evening in a “lavvo” (Norwegian tipi), and excursions. The days will be punctuated with typical Norwegian or vegetarian meals.
The fourth day is also exclusively dedicated to your retreat: for those Yoga Boréal hosts, departure is possible the next morning.
Departure from Lyngseidet (or transfer to Tromsø regarding request) on day six in the morning.
Enjoy the quietness of the Norwegian forest in a different way, rocked by the crackling fire that answers to the brook in the distance. A 15-minute walk, but away from the lights of civilization in order to have the best conditions to observe the starry sky and the northern lights, the “lavvo” is installed near a small lake in which the Lyngen Alps are reflected. Looking out the other side, you will have a breathtaking view over the fjord.
The island, “holmen”, is a nature reserve that you can explore in peace, no habitation nor path. Hopefully, you can see dolphins during the motorboat crossing, admire the fishing technique of the marine eagles, and if the weather allows, enjoy the northern lights in the evening. The more adventurous ones will be able to go round the holmen by kayak.
No need to take the car, nor even to cross a road to go hiking. From your accommodation in Solhov, you will have access to the sea 40 meters away, but also to many hiking trips just behind the building. Two “hytta” (comfortable, open mountain huts) are accessible at one hour and two hours' walk, crossing the forest of fir, birch, then Arctic steppe.
Enjoy the relaxation moments in the “badestamp” at the edge of the fjord, fresh water heated by wood fire! After a day of stress (or not) you will enjoy this relaxation with the possibility for the bravest to refresh themselves in the icy water of the fjord.
There are northern lights all year round, but observing them requires a bit of luck. “Lyngen” means “quiet” in Norwegian and this defines the climate’s area rather well. It is one of the driest places in Norway. Thanks to the natural barrier that the Lyngen Alps offers, Yoga Boréal offers a clear sky here. As the north position, that is the other reason that the Norwegian scientific observatory is on the other side of the Lyngenfjord.
No need to travel more kilometers to enjoy this fairy tale show, you are at the heart of the scene. From late September to early April, when there is no midnight sun.
This retreat will take place in Lyngseidet, Norway. Lyngseidet is one and a half hour's drive from Tromsø. From your accommodation in Solhov, you will have access to the sea 40 meters away. The retreat location can be accessed either by public transport (bus) or by car.
