During this retreat, you will be accommodated at a ‘Goddess Sanctuary’, a charming private women’s retreat oasis. It is a century-old property that compliments the charm of the rural village of Gharb where it is situated. The property is a gem in itself with its quaint streets, a splendid church, and exceptional country walks.
Converted to a high standard, it still retains its rare features when the property was a working farmhouse. Its own arched mill room now is a beautifully furnished living space. A separate kitchen and dining area also retains the ambiance of times gone by when it was the heart and center of rural family life. The old back garden has been turned into a spacious sun lounge and a sizable pool.
The property can accommodate 8 persons. There are four rustically furnished bedrooms (one ensuite) on the first floor, all of which retain old original features. Some with arches spanning the room and others with stone roof side support that is quite rare to find in the present day Gozo.
The bedrooms are accessible through a wide airy corridor overlooking the pool area. It is an old feature which takes you back centuries and gives the place a serene and cool ambiance. This floor is also equipped with two separate shower rooms. Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access and rustically furnished bedrooms amenities including hairdryer are available in the property.
The daily activities for this retreat will be varied. In the morning, you can either do yoga, dance, or meditation. In the afternoon, the activities are either excursions, spa, or massage. While in the evening, there are workshops, ceremony, or meditation and sharing.
On this retreat, you can visit sacred goddess temple sites. Entrance fee to the temple sites is at an additional cost. Ġgantija temples in Xagħra, Gozo, are one of the most important archaeological sites in the Maltese Islands and are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The site consists of two temples dating back to between 3.600 and 3.200 B.C.
The temple of Ħaġar Qim stands on a hilltop overlooking the sea and the islet of Filfla, not more than 2 kilometers southwest of the village of Qrendi. At the bottom of the hill, only 500 meters away, lies another remarkable temple site of Mnajdra which is found above the southern cliffs. The surrounding landscape is typical Mediterranean garrigue and spectacular in its starkness and isolation.
This retreat will be located in the village of Gharb, Malta. It is one of the oldest villages situated in the west of the island of Gozo. Gharb is surrounded by two villages of San Lawrenz and Ghasri. The village is also surrounded by the sea. The city of Victoria is only 3.5 kilometers away from the property and in the city, you can enjoy the rich history from the knights' time while unwinding yourself in one of the coffee shops you can find here.
The Maltese Islands went through a golden Neolithic period where the remains of which are the mysterious temples dedicated to the goddess of fertility. Later on, the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Romans, and the Byzantines left their traces on the Islands.
Malta is an island south of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. Over 5.000 years ago, the inhabitants built the Megalithic Temples of Malta which are now the oldest free standing structures in the world. The Megalithic Temples of Malta are listed as one of the UNESCO's World Heritage sites, comprising seven temples on the islands of Malta and Gozo.
The two temples of Ggantija on the island of Gozo are notable for their gigantic Bronze Age structures. On the island of Malta, the temples of Hagar Qin, Mnajdra, and Tarxien are unique architectural masterpieces, given the limited resources available to their builders. The Ta' Hagrat and Skorba complexes show how the tradition of temple building was handed down in Malta.
In this retreat, you will be served with 14 daily lovely Mediterranean meals that include breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts made by Womans Essence’s chef. The foods are delicious, healthy, vegetarian, and gluten free. You can also enjoy the unlimited tea, coffee, water, fruit plates, juices, and smoothies.
