Join Wild Atlantic Way Yoga's weekend retreat in Kinsale, Cork, Ireland. Every day you will wake up by the sea, fill your lungs with the fresh air of the Atlantic Ocean and immerse yourself in the teachings of your weekend teachers, who wish to hold the sacred space of yoga so others can experience this deeper connection with their own essential nature within. Wild Atlantic Way Yoga is a traditional Irish farmhouse. While immersing yourself in your yoga practice, you will be looking out at the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying the intimate setting of only eight guests. The farmhouse was brought back to life at the turn of this century, along with retaining the original features; the double height, underfloor heating, and yoga studio was added.

There are four double or twin bedrooms and two bathrooms which the majority of guests will be sharing. The four rooms are allocated upon arrival and will accommodate two people each. Private rooms are subject to availability for a supplement of 55 EUR. You will enjoy the experience of a traditional Irish farmhouse with beautiful views of the famous Old Head and of course, the Atlantic Ocean.

Wild Atlantic Way Yoga Retreat Ireland Weekend Program

You will arrive on Friday at 17:00, just in time for a strong yoga class after sunset. You will end the day with a soothing Restorative yoga practice or with yoga Nidra, creating that dream-like high after savasana, which must be felt to be believed. Yoga is suitable for all levels.

For the rest of the weekend, you will enjoy mouthwatering vegetarian meals, two sunrise yoga practices, and an evening yoga class. You will practice pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation every morning. The afternoon is free for you to explore and unwind in the stunning setting of The Wild Atlantic Way Yoga.

Geraldine O' Neill will be hosting the January 26-28 detox weekend, Bella Hancock the February 2-4 women-only weekend, while Sarah Fox will be your host on February 16-18, and Marion Buechner on the February 23-25 weekend retreat.

Detox with Geraldine O' Neill - January 26-28

Your food for the weekend will focus on detoxing. This retreat incorporates a tailored meal program with workshops and food demonstrations with Shirley O’Halloran, Wild Atlantic Way Yoga’s owner and resident nutritional advisor. Yoga teacher, Geraldine O’Neill, will talk about Ayurvedic medicine, using food to heal the body and creating a sustainable, detoxifying lifestyle by making small behavioural changes. You will leave feeling cleansed and toned, and with a copy of the one-week menu program, to help you continue to eat well at home.

The yoga program is tailored to support the detoxification process - classes will focus on boosting energy levels, charging up the immune system, eliminating toxins, and resting and restoring the body and mind.

Women-only with Bella Hancock - February 2-4

Imbolc is the first day of spring in the celtic year. You will celebrate the gently growing light with a nourishing and revitalizing yoga practice, to send you on your way into the beginning springtime.

February can be a hard month for the body and mind, the tail end of winter, the light is growing, but you are often depleted after the dark winter days. A yoga retreat can be an ideal way to gently restore yourself, and that will be the aim of this retreat weekend. Gentle flowing yoga, Restorative yoga, yoga Nidra, and energizing pranayama to support body, mind and soul. It’s a time for sharing and meeting each other, as well as a quiet time. As this is a retreat for women only, part of the practice will focus on yoga that is especially suitable and nurturing for women.

Sarah Fox - February 16-18

Marion Buechner - February 23-25

Approaching the spring season, you will awaken and energize your body through a beautifully designed Vinyasa flow sequence focusing on detoxifying twists and gentle backbends to open your heart promoting growth and creativity. The Yin and mediation practice will leave your mind and body calm and relaxed, and your heart nourished - restoring overall equilibrium. Throughout all classes, therapeutic-graded essential oils will be used to enhance your experience.

Sample schedule

The opening ceremony is on Friday evening at 5 p.m., followed by a nice, long, 90-minute yoga stretch, meditation, and relaxation with yoga Nidra after dinner.

The Saturday morning 30-minute walk is optional and is followed by a 90-minute Vinyasa Flow yoga practice. There will be free time after brunch on Saturday for a walk along the Wild Atlantic Way or a trip into Kinsale town or simply read a book. The evening practice is comprised of Restorative yoga for 90 minutes, followed by meditation and relaxation yoga Nidra after dinner.

On Sunday you will have a morning Vinyasa Flow yoga practice for 120 minutes. The closing ceremony will take place after brunch.

Marion Buechner
Yoga Alliance RYT 500 (Yoga)
Marion is a 500-hour RYT certified yoga teacher and is also qualified in teaching Yin yoga and meditation. She has been teaching yoga since 2014. Her classes are challenging and dynamic, yet mindful with the focus on breath and body-mind connection. Yoga is for everyone. Providing an open, trusted and safe space for everyone to feel comfortable and being able to connect to themselves is essential to her. Marion continues her study by attending various classes, workshops, trainings and being a student to this infinite topic of yoga.
Geraldine O' Neill
Geraldine is a marketing consultant and the founder of Urban Yogi. She combines corporate life with teaching yoga in a number of Dublin studios. While her passion is Vinyassa Flow Yoga Teacher, she is a big fan of the more restorative yoga practices in dealing with the stress and demands of everyday life. Born in Co Clare, Geraldine has a deep appreciation for the sea, hence the location for this retreat.
Bella Hancock
Bella has been teaching Hatha yoga for 17 years in West Cork and beyond. She trained initially with Contemporary Yoga, Cork, and has completed trainings in yoga Nidra, Restorative, pre and post-natal yoga, and Womb yoga for women’s well-being (Uma Dinsmore-Tuli). She is influenced and inspired by the teachings of Swami Satyananda, BKS Iyengar, teachers of Scaravelli yoga and the tantric and structural yoga of Mukunde Stiles and Chinnamasta Stiles. Bella holds regular classes, workshops, retreats and women’s gatherings. She has initiated and is a director of the non profit Yoga Mandala Project.
Sarah Fox
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 (Yoga)
Sarah Fox is a E-RYT 200-hour qualified yoga teacher and is a certified yoga Nidra teacher. She has been teaching yoga since 2011. Sarah teaches many styles, including Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, and Yin yoga. She has a keen interest in the nitty-gritty science of yoga, including anatomy and physiology and the more esoteric theory, such as Subtle Anatomy. She lectures Asana, Nutrition and Lifestyle, Subtle Anatomy and Meditation with Yoga Diploma. Sarah believes the benefits of the practice are for everyone and include mindfulness, equanimity, peace, balance, and will seep into every aspect of life.


This retreat will take place in Cork, Ireland. Wild Atlantic Way Yoga is a mere 30-minute drive from Cork Airport (ORK). It overlooks the Atlantic Ocean on the famous Old Head of Kinsale. There are many beautiful sandy beaches in the vicinity. The famous beaches of Garrettstown are merely a five-minute drive away as is the famous Old Head Golf Links. The beautiful tourist town of Kinsale is a mere ten-minute drive away.

Meals are taken very seriously at Wild Atlantic Way Yoga, as the owner, Shirley, did her primary degree in Food Science. You will be served wholesome and nourishing vegetarian options throughout the weekend. There will be two main meals per day, brunch and dinner. Snacks will be served throughout the weekend.

Driving directions from Cork Airport (ORK)

  • From the airport, head southeast and continue for 190 meters.
  • At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue 2000.
  • Go through one roundabout and continue for 400 meters.
  • At the roundabout, take the second exit and continue for 210 meters.
  • At the roundabout, take the third exit onto R600 and continue for 20 kilometers.
  • Turn left onto Pier Road or R600.
  • Continue to follow R600 follow the signs for Old Head, continue driving for 5.5 kilometers.
  • Turn slight left onto R604 and continue for 1.8 kilometers.
  • Turn left at the skewed crossroads.
  • From signpost Old Head 4, Kinsale 7, continue driving for three kilometers.
  • Turn right and drive 1.3 kilometers towards the sea.
  • Turn left, continue driving for three kilometers, and Wild Atlantic Way Yoga is on your left. It's a blue farmhouse with a cream yoga extension.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Cork Airport (ORK). From the city center or Cork Airport, driving or taxi is your best option. Wild Atlantic Way Yoga can help organize transport to and from the retreat center. Expect to pay 45 EUR for a taxi from Cork city or 40 EUR from Cork Airport.
